Jay Johnson can flat out build an offense and he has a special group of sophomore hitters in Tucson. Austin Wells, Ryan Holgate, Dayton Dooney, Tony Bullard and Branden Boissiere have continued to progress this fall and this could be a nightmarish lineup come the 2020 season.

While run prevention was a major issue a year ago, the pitching staff was injected with a very strong recruiting class. Garrett Irvin, a lefthander from Riverside City College (Calif.), stood out in the fall and the freshmen quartet of Dawson Netz, Wesley Scott, Hunter Cope and Chandler Murphy all showed signs of making an immediate impact.
