10U PG Series Game Recaps- 7/26

In the last day of pool play, there were 3 games left to be played with championship contention on the line. North took advantage of their double header today by winning both games, staying undefeated in the tournament, and clinching a spot in the championship game tomorrow against Florida. Their first win of the day was actually against Florida in a close 3-2 game. Florida was also undefeated in the tournament and putting up impressive numbers offensively and defensively. However, it was North's pitcher, Aiden Smith, who threw a complete game, held them to only 2 runs on 2 hits, and struck out 6. Smith was the MVP of the game but Stefan Radovanovic and Ryan Castetter also helped out by recording a hit and RBI each.

North and Radovanovic carried their momentum into their second game of the day as they defeated Central 6-3 and Radovanovic was the MVP. He went 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Grayson Reece also provided some run support himself by getting a hit, knocking in a run, and scoring a run. Despite the loss, Central's Keaton Neal (2B, 2 RBI, and run scored) and Spencer Stevens (2-3) both had good games as well.

Southeast and Puerto Rico also faced off in a close battle that ended in a 4-4 tie after Puerto Rico scored 2 runs in both the 5th and 6th inning. The starter for Southeast, Luke Partin, had a great outing on the mound going 4 scoreless innings, not allowing a hit, and striking out 5. Partin did it all in this game as recorded 2 hits and scored 2 runs as well. Neyland Hulsey and Ryland Paxton also got 2 hits apiece but it was Brody Brant who received the MVP of the game after crushing a 2 run homerun in the 4th inning. For Puerto Rico, Yabdiel Aponte showed off his bat going 2-3 including hitting in the game tying RBI in the bottom of the 6th. These two teams will matchup again tomorrow to see who will play Central in the 3rd place game.
