Dulin Dodgers grab 14u Qualifier in walk-off fashion

EMERSON, Ga. – The Dulin Dodgers 14u defeated Exposure 14u Fall White in walk-off fashion in the championship game of the 2017 PG 14u Fall World Series Qualifier by a score 6-5. In a back-and-forth battle that featured multiple clutch hits, the Dodgers came away with the victory.

The scoring began for the Dodgers in the bottom of the first inning as Jake Wilson hit an RBI single to right after a seven-pitch at-bat for the game’s first run. The next run would come as Wilson would score on a balk after stealing third base.

Wilson also started on the mound for Dulin and tossed 3 1/3 one-hit innings for the Dodgers. Both offenses were stymied by great starting pitching from Wilson and Caleb Champion of Exposure.

Exposure’s offense would come alive in the fifth inning as they would tally five runs to take a 5-2 lead. Andrew Burns and Carson Yates each produced RBI hits for Exposure as Burns doubled home two runs and Yates tripled home another.

It would take a heroic rally in the bottom of the seventh inning by the Dulin Dodgers to tie the game and send it to extra innings. With a three-run seventh inning the Dodgers pulled off the seemingly impossible, and with the bases loaded, an RBI hit by pitch by Jeff Wilkins, an RBI single to right field by Landon Myers and a wild pitch would get the job done for the Dodgers to force extras.

After a scoreless top half of the eighth inning, the Dodgers would put three hits in a row together to win the game and the 2017 PG 14u Fall World Series Qualifier Championship. Tanner Jones was the hero as he drove in Joshua Russell for the walk-off victory.

The MVP of the 2017 PG 14u Fall World Series Qualifier was Andrew Burns of Exposure. Burns went 5-for-10 (.500) at the plate with four of those hits being doubles. He also collected four RBI in the tournament.

The MV-Pitcher of the tournament was Tucker Stockman of the Dulin Dodgers. Stockman appeared in three games for the Dodgers tossing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
