14u WWBA Returns to Hoover

One of the most anticipated events on the summer travel baseball calendar returns this week as the 2026 Perfect Game 14U WWBA National Championship gets underway in Hoover and the surrounding Birmingham area.

Now in its 19th year, the tournament has established itself as the premier event for 14U players across the country, annually attracting some of the top young talent in amateur baseball. This year’s championship will feature 129 teams competing for a national title, continuing a tradition that has seen organizations such as East Cobb Astros, Team Elite, USA Prime, SBA Bolts National, and defending champion ZT National Prospects take home the trophy.



As always, the field is loaded with elite prospects, many of whom are already becoming familiar names within the Perfect Game community.

Starting off strong with Christopher Cabrera, the No. 1 overall player and No. 1 third baseman in the 2030 class. The Miami native returns to the national stage after earning invitations to the 11U, 12U and 13U Select Festivals. Cabrera enters the tournament as one of the most accomplished hitters in the country, posting a .514 batting average with 12 home runs in Perfect Game events during 2025, while also showcasing impressive arm talent on and off the mound. He will suit up for defending champion ZT National Prospects as the team looks to defend their title.

USA Prime 14U National brings another impressive group to Hoover, including Jason Spray Jr. and Amani Tuiasosopo. Ranked No. 2 overall nationally, Spray combines elite athleticism with significant physical projection and is already regarded as one of the top outfielders in the class. Tuiasosopo, ranked No. 4 overall and the nation’s top shortstop, possesses a well-rounded skill set that allows him to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Both players earned invitations to the 13U Select Festival and enter the week among the top players to watch throughout this tournament.

Another player to watch is Kingston George of FTB/TBT Phillies Scout. Ranked fifth nationally, and second in the state of Texas, George brings a powerful right-handed bat, advanced athleticism, and the ability to contribute on the mound. The Texas native has attended each of the last three Select Festivals and has developed into one of the most dynamic players in the 2030 class.

While many of the nation’s top-ranked players will be making their first appearance at this event, several familiar faces are returning to Hoover looking to leave an even bigger impact this summer.

Florida outfielder Brayden Nims returns as one of the top-ranked players in the country after an impressive year that saw him hit .491 while continuing to establish himself as one of the premier young hitters in the class. Being one of the younger players in the 2030 class, Nims brings a combination of present production and long-term projection that makes him a player to watch throughout the week.

Alabama shortstop Tucker Richardson also returns to Hoover. After earning MVP honors at the 2025 13U Select Festival, Richardson is ranked as the top player in Alabama and one of the top shortstops nationally. Richardson’s ability to impact the game as both a hitter and pitcher has made him one of the most exciting prospects in the field.

Another returning name is Chris Reed, a talented shortstop from Georgia who impressed at last year’s WWBA 14U World Championship while competing as a 13-year-old. Reed enters the tournament ranked among the top 25 players nationally and will help lead Team Elite Scout 14U as the organization looks to add another championship trophy to its collection this summer.

From returning Select Festival standouts to the next generation of nationally ranked prospects, the 2026 Perfect Game 14U WWBA National Championship promises another exciting week of baseball in Hoover. For many of these players, the event represents an opportunity to compete against the best in the country, create lasting memories with teammates, and continue building their futures in the game.

As the first pitch approaches, one thing is certain: the next wave of baseball talent is ready to take the stage.

Year in and year out when the best young talent from across the country is packed into one national-level event the arms tend to win the week. That feels especially true in today’s amateur game where velocity, pitch design and high-level training in general are being introduced earlier than ever, allowing young pitchers to develop impactful stuff at a faster rate than younger hitters can consistently catch up to it. PHILADELPHIA – When the folks at Perfect Game reached out to invite him to pitch in the 2026 PG All-Star Game for rising sophomores and juniors, Cullen Scott had one request. “You mind if I get a couple of at-bats, too?” Along with his dad, Scott traveled from the family’s home in Texas to Citizens Bank Park.
