2027 Top Prospects

Caleb Lynn  OF - 2027 - Garner, NC

Lynn is a primary pitcher and was outstanding on the mound, topping out at 83 mph to go with a hard curveball that completely over-matched the hitters. But he was also the best athlete at the event, running a 6.79 sixty, showing defensive athleticism and had perhaps the best pure swing we saw all weekend. He has five-tool potential as he develops.

Holt Gaston  RHP - 2027 - Arden, NC

Gaston is a fine prospect as a primary third baseman, with a broad shouldered 6-0/175 build and lots of right handed bat speed. But he's a better prospect as a right handed pitcher, where he topped out at 87 mph with feel for both a curveball and a power slider.

Carter Hullett  C - 2027 - Brentwood, TN

Hullett opened everyone's eyes when he hit a ball over the right field stands in batting practice, then proceeded to square up 4-5 balls hard in the games. He stood out defensively behind the plate in both games and drills and was also up to 81 mph off the mound.

Tyce Thompson  C - 2027 - Winterville, NC

Thompson has solid athleticism on defense behind the plate and big arm strength but what really stood out was his right handed bat. You don't often see an eighth grader go no doubt home run over the left field fence on a professional field. There's big, big power potential here.

Harrison Corey  SS - 2027 - Winterville, NC

Corey was one of the more impressive 14 year old middle infielders we've seen defensively in a while, as he has outstanding quickness, balance and agility to go along with a strong arm. With his smaller 5-7/125 frame, he has some young Nick Allen in him.

Ryan Edwards  RHP - 2027 - Greenville, NC

Edwards was the most polished pitcher at the event, filling up the zone with three solid pitches that he had advanced feel for, including a slider that is going to get hitters out right away as he moves up age groups. He worked 76-78 mph with his fastball and had the best change up at the event.

Harrison Mears  SS - 2027 - Southport, NC

The PG scouts nicknamed Mears "Tomahawk" for his distinctive swing but that swing certainly worked well. Mears slammed a inside the park home run and a double in the games and crushed the ball in BP as well. He also ran one of the best 60's of the event at 7.01.

Hudson Tuttle  C - 2027 - Kernersville, NC

Tuttle has an outstanding swing at the plate with extension and lift and is going to have some real power when he matures physically. He was solid defensively both behind the plate and in the infield and also threw in the upper 70's off the mound.

Aiden Coats  RHP - 2027 - Winterville, NC

Coats has a strong 5-10/178 build and good athleticism that showed in a loose and flowing delivery that he repeated well. He topped out at 81 mph on his fastball and showed a nice low 70's change up with feel for the zone as his best secondary offering.

Colton Temple  1B - 2027 - McDonald, PA

Temple is a strong left handed hitter with a very sound swing and a pretty mature ability to see the ball and recognize pitches and locations. He squared the ball up almost every at-bat with some jump off the barrel and has strong "hitterish" actions in baseball speak.

Luke Samples  RHP - 2027 - Durham, NC

Samples has an outstanding young pitcher's body at 6-4/180 and a high 3/4's arm slot that works downhill very well. He worked mostly in the 75-77 mph range but flashed higher when his mechanics came together, including notching an 81 in the strike zone. There's a high ceiling here potentially.

Grayson DeBerry  SS - 2027 - Matthews, NC

DeBerry has some strength in his 5-11/165 build and a solid variety of tools and skills. He creates nice right handed bat speed and has solid middle infield actions on defense. He also struck out all six hitters he faced on the mound, topping out at 78 mph with a sharp curveball.

Julius Pabon  OF - 2027 - Woodbridge, VA

Pabon is a quick twitch athlete with all the tools and actions to stay in the middle infield for a long time. He has a very controlled and quick swing at the plate, with lots of middle of the field line drive contact.

Colby Fesler  SS - 2027 - Broadway, VA

Fesler's best tool is his right handed bat. He consistently hit the ball hard during both BP in the games and showed an advanced approach in the games with his ability to make adjustments and hit the ball hard to all fields. He has good arm strength and projects at third base moving forward.

Caleb McLawhorn  OF - 2027 - Winterville, NC

McLawhorn has some present strength in his 5-9/150 frame and creates very good bat speed for his age. He showed an advanced ability to drive the ball from gap to gap and crushed an inside the park home run to right center field in the games that really jumped off the barrel.

Cooper Marks  SS - 2027 - Elon, NC

What Marks lacks in present size at 5-5/130 he makes up for in quick twitch athleticism. He ran a 6.95 in the sixty, showed range and hop in the infield and has some hand quickness at the plate as a switch-hitter, especially from the left side.

Elijah Terry  OF - 2027 - Virginia Beach, VA

Terry is a primary outfielder who has a nice swing at the plate but he might have a higher ceiling on the mound. He has an outstanding arm action that was loose and extended and sat effortlessly at 76-78 mph in the strike zone during his inning of work.

Benjamin Bernard  2B - 2027 - Cary, NC

Bernard is a primary outfielder who also catches but graded out higher at this event on the mound. He worked in the upper 70's and bumped 80 mph while showing a swing and miss curveball that he threw for strikes.

2028 Top Prospects

Devin Haynes  RHP - 2028 - Rockingham, NC

Haynes is a 6-0/150 long limbed seventh grader with a loose and whippy arm action from an extended mid 3/4's arm slot. He worked in the 70-75 mph range on his fastball with nice running life and really projects well physically.

Chase Collins  C - 2028 - Randleman, NC

Collins was very impressive for a seventh grader, especially on defense where he handled numerous plays at both shortstop and third base flawlessly. He already has an idea at the plate and some real bat speed for his age.
