Navy vs Red Game Highlights

Uday Narottam (2020 LHP, South San Francisco, CA) pitched at 76-78 MPH with a quick arm action.  He gets some extension out front and finishes to the plate well.  Narottam showed pitchability and located his fastball well.  He also threw a strike to third base from right field cutting down a runner trying to advance from second base.  

George Christison (2019 OF, Vacaville, CA) continued his hitting ways this weekend collecting another hit with a good approach at the plate.  

Jeff Pierantoni (2020 SS, Valencia, CA) swung the bat well with some bat speed and barrel contact.  He had 2 hits on the game.  Pierantoni also showed good defensive tools and footwork at shortstop.

Kevin  Sim (2020 3B, San Diego , CA) showed solid defensive actions at 3B making a nice running play to his glove side.  He also made solid contact at the plate with good barrel contact.  Sim also pitched at 78-80 MPH with a short quick arm action.  

Charlie Adamson (2019 SS, Beverly Hills, CA) pitched at 78-81 MPH with a short arm action.  He has some arm speed with a lean projectable build.  Adamson threw strikes and also threw a slider at 70 MPH.

Oliver Hicks (2018 LHP, San Luis Obispo, CA) pitched at 77-81 MPH with a long arm action.  He gets good run on his fastball with some life on it.  Hicks also threw a change up with sink at 70 MPH.  

Liam O'Connor (2019 OF, Dana Point, CA) hit the ball hard a couple times collecting 2 hits.  He made hard line drive contact and showed some fast twitch in his swing.    He was aggressive on the base paths stealing a base as well.

Gustavo Perez (2018 MIF, San Diego, CA) barreled up the baseball well with a hard single up the middle and a triple to left field.  He also showed some instincts on the bases taking second base on the throw to home plate.

Connor Chapman (2018 3B, Anaheim, CA) pitched at 80-84 MPH with a short quick arm action.  He gets some down plane on his fastball and also threw a curveball at 71 MPH with some downer shape to it.

Caiden Matheny (2019 SS, Canyon Lake, CA) hit a hard single up the middle and showed good bat speed.  He swings on a line drive path and showed some barrel skills.  He also pitched at 80-84 MPH with some arm speed.  

Austin Kretzschmar (2018 SS, La Mesa, CA) showed good defensive tools making an impressive sliding backhanded play in the hole and throwing the runner out at first.  

Nick Schnopp (2019 OF, Camarillo, CA) made consistent hard contact and collected 2 hits.  The ball sounded good off his bat on a hard line drive to left field.

Trevor Bateson (2018 SS, Menifee, CA) pitched at 78-81 MPH with a long arm action and some arm speed.  He threw an 11/5 curveball with some shape to it.

Oliver Hicks (2018 LHP, San Luis Obispo, CA) Showed the ability to keep his hands inside the baseball and drive the baseball to all fields. Drove an fastball located on the outer third of the plate down the third base line for a double in his first at bat of the evening. Also showed good speed on the bases turning the before mentioned hit into a double, then stealing third base.

Justin Long (2019 RHP, Chino Hills, CA) Flashed good life with his fastball that ran up to 82 miles per hour. Long has a deep arm stab back at separation and accelerates his arm from a three-quarters arm slot generating occasional downward angle to the bottom one-thirds of the strike zone. Long maintains his arm speed well with an 11-to-5 curveball that has softer spin with solid depth down in the zone. 

Andrew Grieder (2018 RHP, Newbury Park, CA) Effectively changed speed after establishing a fastball that ran up to 82 mile per hour. Grieder flashed developing feel for an 11-to-5 curveball that has good depth when he maintains his arm speed. Also showed a changeup at 69 miles per hour with late fading action and slight sink. 

George Christison (2019 OF, Vacaville, CA) Has a naturally lifted swing plane that generates good leverage through extension. Ball jumps when Christison is able to turn the barrel to the baseball and work to pull side. Also flashed good arm strength throwing behind a runner at first baseball to complete a double play from deep right field. 

Gustavo Perez (2018 MIF, San Diego, CA) The left handed hitter showed a very balanced, line drive approach while at the plate that resulted in three singles including a sharply hit line drive to left center field in his second at bat. Perez is also a threat on the bases, stealing second and third base in the next plate appearance and eventually scored on a throwing error from the catcher. 

Benjamin Caggianelli (2018 RHP, Bakersfield, CA) Produced a balanced mix of fastball and curveball offerings throughout his four innings of work. The right hander's fastball ranged 78-81 miles per hour and was complimented with a 11-to-5 curveball had flashed very good depth. Cagginaelli has a live arm that flashed good whip through extension. The Bakersfield product projects for additional velocity with continued physical development.

Isaac Ayon (2020 3B/RHP, Fresno, CA) Showed a smooth paced, repeatable delivery from a three-quarters arm slot. Worked exclusively from the strength producing occasional life with a fastball that topped at 80 miles per hour. Ayon also mixed in a curveball with proper shape and depth, and maintained his arm speed on a changeup offering that generated occasional fade. 

Gabriel Cruz (2019 RHP, Bakersfield, CA) Doubled down the right field line in last at bat of the day. Primarily showed a mid-field approach throughout the day, but flashed the barrel control to use all fields when front side trigger is on time.

Caiden Matheny (2019 SS, Canyon Lake, CA) showed good bat speed at the plate, had a double in the game with an RBI.  He showed a confident approach at the plate.

Mason Eng (2018 C, San Jose, CA) had a pair of singles in the game. He showed a short swing at the plate and moved well behind the plate too.
 
Alexander Hunter (2019 RHP, Bakersfield, CA) showed a good FB at 79-81 touched 83 mph with natural cutting action on his FB. He showed good command on the plate.

Charlie Adamson (2019 SS, Beverly Hills, CA) had a single and a double in the game with a run scored. He showed a line drive swing plane at the plate with good bat speed.

Diego Baqueiro (2020 3B, Mission Hills, CA) had a single and a triple in the game with 2 RBI's. He showed quick hands at the plate with good bat speed.

Cal Underclass Showcase BP Highlights

George Christison (2019 OF, Vacaville, CA): Did a very good job creating separation in load and then showing excellent bat speed through the zone, capable of making squared contact consistently. 

Austin Kretzschmar (2018 SS, La Mesa, CA): Shows very good intent in swing with quality bat speed and positive launch angles, did a very good job of driving the ball into the air with very projectable power. 

Nick Schnopp (2019 OF, Camarillo, CA): Shows legitimate pop to the pull field with both the swing and projectable frame to project for even more power moving forward. 

Connor Chapman (2018 3B, Anaheim, CA): Showed good separation with strength in swing, did a good job getting the barrel out and driving the ball with some consistency.

Charlie Adamson (2019 SS, Beverly Hills, CA): Had one of the more consistently loud rounds of the day, consistently putting the barrel on the ball and driving it deep into the OF with a whole-field approach and good bat speed. 

Alexander Hunter (2019 RHP, Bakersfield, CA): Showed good strength in swing with middle-field approach, was successful at driving the baseball on a line with consistency. 

James Kobylt (2019 SS, Los Angeles, CA): Shows good bat speed with consistency and was able to barrel up the ball with strength off the barrel when on time. 

Kevin Sim (2020 3B, San Diego, CA): Has some big time bat speed and strength, showing one of the louder hit/power combos of the day; drove the ball consistently and only projects to get better.

Garrett Taylor (2019 C, Escondido, CA): Did a good job shifting into contact and showing looseness in hands/swing, drove the ball into the air successfully with some carry. 

Jake Clark (2020 LHP, Calabasas, CA): Very advanced bat to ball for a 2020, repeatedly squared up the ball on a line to all fields and projects for power. 

Caiden Matheny (2019 SS, Canyon Lake, CA): Showed very quick hands with good bat speed and strength, consistently driving the ball on a line with one of the best approaches of the day. 

Mason Eng (2018 C, San Jose, CA): Showed good balance with quick hands and a fluid stroke, made consistently hard contact with jump off the barrel.

Aaron Treloar (2018 3B, Pasadena, CA): Showed some of the better power on the day, driving the ball deep up the gaps with big bat speed and strength at contact.
