2019 West Coast Prospect Showcase  
Anthony Ortiz is a 2020 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B, MIF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Montebello, CA who attends St. John Bosco. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, present strength to frame with additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary shortstop, only took to the mound in this look. Shows athleticism in delivery, medium leg lift and lands slightly closed coming down the mound, quickness to arm stroke through the backside with a shorter arm stroke working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 87 mph, shows running life to pitch when working to arm side, mixed well and allowed fastball to play well against hitters. Slider showed tight spin with 11-5 shape, firm through the zone and kept hitters on toes. Knuckleball showed tumbling life at 71 mph, works around the zone well with it too; straight changeup at 74 mph, maintains release point on it. Very good student. Named to the 2019 West Coast Prospect Top Prospect List.
