Derek Datil is a 2024 OF/RHP with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Sabana Hoyos, PR who attends Vocacional Antonio Lucchetti. Recorded a 6.60 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder with a lean and projectable frame. Fielded ball off to right side, employed a clean funnel and a longer arm action. Kept throws low and released from an over-the-top slot. Solid fundamentals and good arm strength, up to 85 mph on throws from the outfield. Left-handed hitter and starts from a medium base with open feet and a high back elbow and hands. Gets fully extended out front and impacted the ball to pull side. Swung the bat with lots of intent and created some whip to the path. Secondary right-handed pitcher and utilizes a smooth and under control delivery. Released from a low-3/4 slot, pounding the zone and running it up to 80 mph. Mixed in the changeup effectively with good fade. Flashed a 1-7 shaped curveball. Excellent student. Named to the 2023 Sunshine East Top Prospect List.
