2024 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Emilio Alonso is a 2026 OF/RHP/3B with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Reno, NV who attends Bishop Manogue Catholic High. Medium athletic build with good present strength. Ran a 7.69 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder who had some speed to the build-up to the ball, showing a longer arm swing and over the top arm slot through release. He kept the arm online and showed feel & intent working through the ball. He threw 83 mph during his round of defensive throws, keeping them accurate and around the bag. He took BP as a right-handed hitter with an athletic stance, high back elbow, and lower & tight hands. He had a spread lower half with some crouch. He showed some bat speed and was able to produce line drives with some jump off of the bat. He showed some good swings when in-sync. Produced an 85 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with some athleticism to the operation. He pitched from the stretch with a knee-to-belt leg lift. He had a longer and loose arm action with good arm speed working through it. He lands on-line with some extension toward the plate. It was an easy operation that he repeated well. The fastball was 79-84, up to 86 mph with some occasional cut to it. He competed with the pitch and attacked hitters early in counts. He showed a curveball in the mid-60s with a 12-6 shape and depth to it. He also showed a changeup at 71 mph in the mix, killing spin on it well. Very good student. Named to the National Underclass Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
