2024 Ohio Valley Workout Showcase (Wed.)
Matthew VanOstenbridge is a 2024 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Sinking Spring, PA who attends Wilson. Medium athletic build. Has a fast paced delivery with drop and drive lower half mechanics and a low 3/4's arm slot, hides the ball well in back and has some deception in his mechanics and arm action. Fastball was consistently in the upper 80's and topped out at 89 mph, gets some riding action up in the zone. Softer change up has nice fading action and some feel for commanding it. Still developing consistency on his breaking ball feel but can really create spin, 2800+ spin rates, breaking ball flashes sharpness with 1/7 shape but will flatten out with a slider shape at other times. Has impressive raw stuff, key to development will be learning how to throw consistent strikes with it. Good student, verbal commitment to Penn State. Named to the Ohio Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
