Avery Smith is a 2025 C/3B, IF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from East Greenville, PA who attends Perkiomen. Medium, slender framer with long-levers and tons of room to fill out. Recorded a 7.96 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary catcher with solid catch-and-throw skill set and some upside as he continues to physically mature. Receives softly from a slightly side-saddled stance with quick feet out of the crouch and direct mid-line transfer. Gains ground quickly towards his target, stays athletic into and through his transfer and gets rid of the baseball extremely quick. Displays game like actions behind the dish, as he recorded arm strength up to 71 mph and a pop time of 2.04 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a well-balanced, even stance with a tight hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates a subtle hover trigger for timing and creates some separation as he gets out to landing. Contact oriented stroke with some feel for the barrel and quickness to his hands. Displayed the ability to impact the baseball from gap-to-gap when on-time. Flatter swing path with some barrel depth through the strike zone. Will continue to improve with minor swing adjustments and additional strength. Solid overall skill set with plenty of projection and upside on both sides of the ball.
