2024 Sunshine New York Showcase
Thomas Formica is a 2027 C/RHP/OF with a 6-2 189 lb. frame from Staten Island, NY who attends Curtis. Formica works from a broad shouldered frame with evident strength proportioned throughout. As a primary C, he displayed a side saddle set to start, occasionally going to one knee to receive. Repeated a quick and compact mid-line transfer well with evident ground gained in the footwork. Should see accuracy refine in the future. Posted a 2.08 pop time. From the OF, showcased an aggressive buildup and carried momentum well through release, ultimately topping out at 80 mph. Offensively, the righty started from a slightly open base with a high hand set, utilizing a leg lift trigger into impact. He shifted the weight effectively to generate carry on the baseball with a gap to gap approach displayed. Posted an exit velo of 87 mph. Ran a 7.52 sixty yard dash. Good student. Named to Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
