2024 High School All State Select Championship (2025-2026 Grads)
Masataka Shudo is a 2026 2B/RHP/C/UT with a 5-4 140 lb. frame from Menlo Park, CA who attends Menlo-Atherton. Shorter compact build. 7.26 runner in the sixty. Primary second baseman on defense but can play all over the field, including catcher, and is a true utility type player, has quick feet and good glove work and some arm strength. Right handed hitter, starts from a narrow base and a coiled start, big barrel wrap in back, short stride into a rotational swing, has good rhythm to his swing and gets the barrel to the ball on time, line drive contact to all fields. Took a turn on the mound, high leg raise delivery with a full 3/4's arm action, gets down the mound well and over his front side. Fastball was in the mid-70's and mostly straight, mixed in a 12/6 downer curveball and a short flatter slider, threw strikes and challenged hitters. Outstanding student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
