1-Columbia Blue Game Highlights

8/7/2022

Karson Knox (2023 C, Wake Forest, NC) was a defensive asset for his squad during both days of the event, constantly holding the running game at bay behind the dish with a 1.95 pop time. The actions for Knox were quick and compact, gaining ground in the footwork with more than enough accuracy to pinpoint throws on the bag. Knox also flashed the ability to handle the bat well on the offensive end, putting good AB’s together with strength in the 6-foot 190 pound frame.

Corbin Martens (2025 1B, Mount Pleasant, SC) put an aggressive approach on display at the dish, jumping on a FB early in the count to drive a triple to deep LF. The 6-foot-1 185 pound prospect showcased solid hip torque and natural lift in the bat path with quickness to the hands that generated loud impact.

Cameron Main (2023 LHP, Roanoke, VA) looked sharp on the bump, striking out five and only giving up one hit through his three innings of work Sunday. The projectable 6-foot-2 170 pound lefty worked efficiently, pounding the zone with success from a 3/4 slot. He repeated the operation and hid the ball well, mixing a slide piece with horizontal tilt as his primary off speed offering.

Samuel Cozart (2025 RHP, High Point, NC) worked a light one inning on the bump the way a #7 overall national prospect would, as the physically developed 6-foot-7 235 pound righty pounded all quadrants with ease flashing the full FB/SL/CH arsenal. Extending downhill well and releasing from a 3/4 slot, Cozart displayed plenty of feel for spin with the ability to manipulate shape and size of the breaker. He worked quickly and confidently on the bump with very few competitive swings against him if any.

3-White Game Highlights

8/7/2022

Owen Michelson (2023 C, Candler, NC) drilled a ball to the CF wall during his first PA of the day in which ultimately ended up being an inside the park HR. The UNC-Asheville commit flashed clear whip to the barrel through the zone with jump off the barrel, working from a 5-foot-11 185 pound frame.

Jimmyll Williams (2023 3B, Durham, NC) went a perfect 3-3 in his first three AB’s on Sunday, finding ways to get on base while using the pull side of the field to his advantage. With slight hover in the load, Williams shifts the weight well displaying a compact hand path to generate consistent contact.

Colin Pritt (2024 3B, Concord, NC) finished his day strong with a single to LF using an open stance and bigger leg load to generate backspin on the baseball. Strength is evident in the 5-foot-11 200 pound frame with solid extension post contact.

Tyler Galloway (2023 OF, Leesburg, VA) had another impressive day at the dish, this time roping a standup triple to the pull side LCF gap. The 6-foot-1 180 pound righty’s stroke is compact and controlled, flashing both contact and power tools at his disposal. He also worked off the mound with a complete arsenal and FB up 85 mph.

2-Red Game Highlights

8/7/2022

Wes Estes (2024 RHP, Waxhaw, NC) worked three innings on the bump from a loose clean arm action and high 3/4 slot, striking out a pair with the FB sitting 83-86 mph (2000 rpm). He successfully sequenced both a slider and change piece for swing and miss, the latter flashing solid fading action that effectively killed spin at 1432 rpm. The 6-foot 180 pound righty has further room to project into the upper 80’s which could be coming sooner rather than later.

Brendan Fulcher (2024 C, Albemarle, NC) roped a double to deep LF putting the bat speed on display in game one. From a wider open stance, the 6-foot-2 180 pound righty consistently put good swings on the baseball in game, dealing damage to the pull side whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Cason Hill (2025 OF, Murfreesboro, TN) couldn’t let his brother be the only one in a game blog, as he had himself an opposite field single down the RF line to start his day off followed by sound defensive play. The 5-foot-11 170 pound frame still has room to develop and add strength with natural athleticism present in both the OF and at SS that made itself known on charge plays with smooth glove work as well as the ability to change slots.

Travis Smith (2024 SS, Hampstead, MD) was another infielder who looked more than comfortable on the left side, flashing tons of lateral quickness and range to both sides with the ability to throw on the run and make difficult plays look routine. Smith has more than enough arm strength across the diamond, keeping the mechanics controlled while also possessing a reliable glove to ultimately be a staple behind his pitcher.

Batting Practice Highlights

8/6/2022

Corbin Martens (2025 1B, Mount Pleasant, SC) is a big and strong right handed hitter for his age with lots of room and time to get stronger.  He has present bat speed and good timing to his swing and got lots of jump off the barrel during a very consistent round.

John McKillop (2024 1B, Charlotte, NC) has a strong build and a pretty short and direct left handed swing that combined plenty of barrels with some power to right centerfield.  A bit more extension through contact would kick that power up another notch.

Karson Knox (2023 C, Wake Forest, NC) has good present strength and a short and compact swing that enabled him to barrel the ball up consistently.  He opened up his swing a bit late and showed his power potential as well.

Logan Dyer (2024 2B, Salisbury, NC) looks like a high average hitter who is going to keep improving as he gets stronger.  He was very well timed with a loose swing and got the barrel out front consistently.

Andrew Hill (2024 SS, Knoxville, TN) has a long and angular 6-4/200 build and a long and leverage swing with some present bat speed.  He just flashed it but there is some serious power here as he gets stronger and better timed with his lower half.

Landon King (2026 LHP, Belmont, NC) is a one of the younger players here and also a primary pitcher but he's an athlete with a very projectable swing who could definitely end up as a two-way guy or primary outfielder as he matures as a player.

Tyler Galloway (2023 OF, Leesburg, VA) has hitters hands and some bat speed to develop, along with being a very good athlete.  A couple of adjustments to get his barrel into the zone on time more consistently could pay big dividends.  The ball comes off his barrel very well.

Tyler Stillson (2023 SS, Chapel Hill, NC) had some of the fastest hands at the event in BP and gets them through the ball very well with a pull side approach.  He has a very projectable 6-3/175 body and there is more power in there as he gets stronger.

1-Columbia Blue vs 3-Red Game Highlights

8/6/2022

Bobby Osburn (2023 RHP, Fuquay Varina, NC) showcased some effortless life on the bump sitting 84-86 mph and ultimately topping out at 87 mph (2100 rpm) in his three innings of work. The projectable 6-foot 160 pound righty worked exclusively from the stretch with simple repeatable mechanics that eliminated any unnecessary movement, releasing from a 3/4 slot to strike out five.

Andrew Hill (2024 SS, Knoxville, TN) impressed yet again, this time by leading off the game with a barreled double in the LCF gap. The stroke for Hill was effortless and powerful, using the uber athletic 6-foot-4 200 pound frame to create backspin and carry on the baseball to the pull side.

John McKillop (2024 1B, Charlotte, NC) turned on an inside pitch to send a one hop double off the RF wall in his final AB of the day, getting the barrel out in front with solid post contact extension. McKillop has strength in the 6-foot-2 205 pound frame with power potential continuing to grow.

Greyson Hainer (2024 OF, Elizabethtown, KY) pieced up an opposite field line drive making the most of his plate appearance, keeping the hands connected through the zone with a level path through contact. Hainer’s swing is quick and compact with the ability to use the entire field.

2-White vs 3-Red Game Highlights

8/6/2022

Nathan Hayworth (2024 OF, Rockwell, NC) roped a loud RBI triple into the LCF gap during his first plate appearance, creating effortless carry with solid barrel extension. The righty has plenty of projection remaining in the 5-foot-9 155 pound frame with advanced barrel control already in the toolbox.

Chase Soesbee (2024 1B, Huntersville, NC) barreled up a single over 3B to get his day started, flashing quickness to the hands with a simple line drive stroke. The lefty kept the barrel in the zone for an extended period of time with minimal swing and miss in the approach. He ran his FB up to 84 mph on the bump with good separation and extension in the delivery.

Tyler Galloway (2023 OF, Leesburg, VA) showed clear pop off the bat with a deep double to CF, displaying some easy bat speed and natural fluidity to the stroke. The 6-foot-1 180 pound righty is a well rounded prospect with multiple tools at his disposal.

Devon Nortier (2023 RHP, Huntersville, NC) showed the ability to control the barrel successfully on multiple occasions for two knocks on his day, using all parts of the field with not a ton to complain about in the stroke. The strong 6-foot-2 185 pound righty was also up to 86 mph on the mound with developing life in the arm.

Andrew Hill (2024 SS, Knoxville, TN) hands down made the defensive play of the day at SS, showing full extension to make a diving play and then double up a runner at 1B. The natural athleticism was on complete display flashing range to the glove side with arm strength and carry across the diamond.

1-Columbia Blue vs 2-White Game Highlights

8/6/2022

Keegan Luxem (2025 RHP, Mount Prospect, IL) put the young but plenty physical 6-foot-4 195 pound frame on display for three innings on the bump Saturday, striking out five with a nasty two pitch FB/CB mix. Sitting 79-82 over the course of the appearance, Luxem has tons of velocity potential left in the arm, dropping the steep 11-5 breaker on command for consistent swing and miss around 2200 rpm.

Colby Vanhook (2024 RHP, Concord, NC) also pitched a clean three innings during his time on the mound, striking out five while running his FB up to 85 mph with a plus SL/CH mix. A well built athletic 6-foot-1 195 pound righty, Vanhook controlled the zone well and recorded efficient outs from a high 3/4 slot.

Brandon Bannerman (2023 OF, Rocky Point, NC) showcased the ability to go the opposite way with a simple inside out stroke during his first AB, flashing strength to the hands with plenty of quickness once on the bases. He stole both second and third with ease and created chaos for the defense.

Conner Thomas (2025 RHP, Raleigh, NC) roped a ball into the LCF gap for an easy standup inside the park HR making the most out of his PA. With evident strength in the lower half, the 6-foot-2 185 pound righty flashed solid bat speed and generated backspin on the baseball, moving well around the bases with athleticism in the frame.

Landon King (2026 LHP, Belmont, NC) successfully got the barrel out in front during his second AB, stroking a leadoff single down the RF line with bat speed present. Contact tool is evident with power developing as the 6-foot 155 pound frame fills out in the future.
