Houston Banditos take the Crown

The Houston Banditos Black defeated the South Texas Sliders, 5-1, to be crowned champion of the 2014 WWBA South Qualifier.

Leadoff Kody Clemens (2015, Memorial HS, TX) a Texas commit, led the way for the Banditos, going 2-4 at the plate, with a double, single, one run and one RBI in the contest.  Joe Davis (2015, Bowie HS, TX) a Houston commit, finished 1-4, with a homerun, one run and two RBIs.  Garrett Wolforth (2015, Concordia Lutheran HS, TX) went 2-3 with a double and a single, and Jacob Hughey (2015, Millikan HS, CA) went 2-3 as well, with a double, single, and two runs scored.

On the mound, Alfredo Villarreal (2015, Veterans Memorial HS, TX) a Houston commit, pitched 6.1 innings of work, giving up one run on five hits, and struck out four.  He had a lively fastball that averaged 86-88/90 mph, and mixed a good curveball, with a changeup as well for his off-speed pitches.

For the Sliders, Blane Hamon (2015, Gregory-Portland HS, TX) sparked the offense, going 1-2 with a double, and one run scored.  David Anaya (2016, Veterans Memorial HS, TX) and Ray Swyers (2015, Tivy HS, TX) each finished 1-3 with a single a piece in the game.


South Texas Sliders hold off Banditos 2-1

The South Texas Sliders held on to defeat the Austin Banditos, 2-1, and advanced to the Championship game of the 2014 WWBA South Qualifier.

Jaxon Williams (2016, B.F. Terry HS, TX) a Arkansas commit, and Kevin Kopps (2015, George Ranch HS, TX) a Arkansas commit, led the way for the Sliders, each going yard in the contest.  Williams finished 1-4 at the plate, with one run scored and one RBI, and Kopps also finished 1-4 with a run scored and one RBI as well in the game.

On the mound, Williams also pitched 4.1 innings of work, giving up no runs, no hits, and struck out four.  He showed a good presence and delivery on the mound, and displayed a fastball that averaged 83-85/86 mph, while mixing in a handful of curveballs and sliders for his off-speed pitches.

For the Banditos, leadoff hitter Ricky Martinez (2016, Pflugerville HS, TX) went 2-3 with two singles, and one run scored.  Nicolas Garza (2016, Stony Point HS, TX) contributed by going 2-4 at the plate, with two singles.


Houston Banditos Advance past Drillers

The Houston Banditos Black held on against the Texas Drillers, 9-6, to advance to the Championship game in the 2014 WWBA South Qualifier.

Conner Capel (2016, Seven Lakes HS, TX) a Texas commit, led the way, going 2-4 with a triple, single, two runs scored and one RBI in the game.  Andres P. Sosa (2016, Reagan HS, TX) a Texas commit, contributed with a homerun, and finished 1-4 at the plate, with two runs scored and three RBIs.  Joe Davis (2015, Bowie HS, TX) a Houston commit, went 2-4 with a double and a single, and Tristan Melton (2015, Prestonwood Christian Academy, TX) a Texas A&M commit, also had a double of his own, and went 1-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.  Kody Clemens (2015, Memorial HS, TX) a Texas commit, went 1-5 with a single, one run and two RBIs.

For the Drillers, Dillon Degadillo (2016, King HS, TX) sparked the offense, going 2-3 with two singles, and one RBI.  Michael Berglund (2016, Carroll HS, TX) went 1-3 with a single, and two runs scored.  Christian Long (2016, Westside HS, TX) went 1-4 with a single, one run and two RBIs.


Prospects Take Consolation Game from Houston

The Prospects National Team defeated the Houston Prospects 8-4 in seven innings.

For the Prospects National, Angel DeLaFuente (2015, Spring, TX) led the team with two singles with a two RBIs and a run scored. Mick Poirier (2015, Alamo, CA) helped with a pair of doubles along with a  RBI and two runs. Daniel Jones (2015, Coppell, TX) roped a double that scored two RBIs, and Elijah MacNamee (2015, Cypress, TX) contributed a RBI single and twice runs. 

Frank Sheehy (2016, Houston, tX) pitched 2.1 innings on the mound.  He did not allow a walk, hit, or a run in the game. He struck out four on his 88 mph fastball. 

For the Houston Prospects, Lee Thomas (2016, Katy, TX) connected for the only hit and also plated a RBI for his team.

Tony Esparza III (2016, Spring, TX) led the pitching duties for his team with four innings of work. He allowed one run off two hits to occur. He walked two and struck out two. He maxed out the gun at 79 mph. 

A's Edge Out Austin Banditos

The Arlington A's Elite defeated the Austin Banditos- Underclass 8-7 in six innings.

For the A's, Will Floyd (2015, Grapevine, TX) led the team with two singles and a RBI. Will Herrera (2015, Colleyville, TX) added a RBI single of his own. Nick Evarts (2015, Colleyville, TX) roped a single and scored twice, and Aaron Fanning (2015, Grapevine, TX) did not pick up a hit but got a RBI and two runs.

Lane Rice (2015, Keller, TX) pitched five innings for his team. He allowed three earned runs off five hits. He walked three and struck out seven on his 82 mph fastball. 

For the Banditos, Alex DeLeon (2017, Lago Vista, TX) led the team with two singles and three RBIs. Christopher Adams (2016, San Antonio, TX) helped with a two RBI single and a run scored. Jake Velasco (2016, Austin, TX) contributed a pair of singles.

Drew Cable (2016, Cedar Park, TX) pitched 2.2 innings with one earned run and three hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out two on his 80 mph fastball.

For ABC, Josh Burnett (2016, Driftwood, TX) led the team with two singles and a RBI. Bryce Symmes (2016, Buda, TX) added a RBI single for his team, and Tyler Wilson (2016, Buda, TX) contributed a single and a run.

Athen Shultz (2015, Buda, TX) pitched the entire game. He did not allow an earned run off four hits. He walked three and struck out five on his 81 mph fastball.

For the Angels, Garrett Gray (2015, Sugar Land, TX) led the team with two singles. Jacob Weber (2016, Sugar Land, TX) roped a RBI single in the game.

The Action Baseball Club 17U defeated the Extra Effort 16-2 in four innings.

For ABC, Grant McDaniel (2016, Victoria, TX) led the team with three singles with three RBIs and two runs. Carson Childers (2016, Round Rock, TX) roped a double and a single and plated three RBIs. DJ Erfurth (206, Round Rock, TX) added a double and a single while touching home three times. Jake Mangrum (2016, Pflugerville, TX) and Johntyler Clark-Chiapparelli (2016, Austin, TX) each knocked two singles with two RBIs and three runs.

Johnny Ryan Panatex (2015, PFlugerville, TX) took the mound for the game. He allowed one earned run off four hits. He walked one and struck out three on his 83 mph fastball.

For Extra Effort, Walker Vance (2015, Moore, OK) led the team with two singles and run. Blayne Spann (2016, Moore, OK) roped a RBI single, and Leo Gallegos (2016, Moore, OK) knocked a double and scored.

For Mizuno, Chris Stevens (2017, Mont Belvieu, TX) led the team with two singles and a run scored. Nick Landrum (2017, Pearland, TX) contributed a two RBI triple in the game to help. Joshua Larzabal (2017, Houston, TX) roped a single and scored twice.

Brendan Owens (2015, Pearland, TX) pitched most of the game with four innings. He allowed one earned run off one hits. He walked five players and struck out six. He ran the gun up to 87 mph. 

For the Expos, Edward "Tres" Wachtel (2016, Brazoria, TX) led the team with a RBI double and a run. Brandon Strebeck (2015, Danbury, TX) added a RBI single and a run for his team. 




E-Train Destroys Ronin 12-0

The E-Train Baseball Club defeated the Ronin Bat Co.- Black 12-0 in four innings.

For E-Train, Reid Schiffbauer (2016, New Braunfels, TX) led the team with double and a pair of singles with a RBI and a run. Corey Harrell (2016, Schertz, TX) added a single with two RBIs and a run. Abel Aguilar (2015, Laredo, TX) helped with a two RBI single, and Patrick Castillo (2015, Pflugerville, TX) crushed a two run home run in the game. Dylan Duarte (2015, Corpus Christi, TX) roped a RBI double while scoring twice.

Zach Leigh (2016, Victoria, TX) pitched 2.2 innings for his team. He did not allow a run with three hits. He walked three batters and struck out five on his 84 mph fastball. 

For Ronin, the team could only muster three hits with all being three singles by three different players.

Donovan Langston (2017, Frisco, TX) showed some consistency with his time on the mound with 2.1 innings. He allowed one earned run with five hits. He walked one and struck out five. He ran the gun up to 83 mph. 

Texans Win Consolation Over Rakers

The Fort Bend Texans 2015 defeated the Texas Rakers 3-1 in seven innings.

For the Texans, Jorge Gutierrez (2016, Sugar Land, TX) led the team with two singles and a run scored. Cooper Weatherly (2015, Rosenberg, TX) added a RBI single, and Gabriel Rodriguez (2015, Richmond, TX) roped a double and a run.

Tyler Polasek (2015, Pearland, TX) pitched three strong innings for his team. He did not allow a run and just one hit. He did not walk a batter and struck out six on his 80 mph fastball. 

For the Rakers, Jacob Wright (2016, Montgomery, TX) led the team with a double. Three other teammates added a single each. Michael Lewis (2017, Montgomery, TX) scored the only run for his team.

Colton Vien (2015, Montgomery, TX) was the most effective pitcher for his team with three innings on the mound. He did not allow a hit or run to occur. He walked one batter and struck out two on his 74 mph fastball. 

Action Baseball Takes Down Ronin

The Action Baseball Club 18U defeated the Ronin Bat Co. - Gray 4-1 in seven innings.

For Action, Kyle Gray (2015, Blanco, TX) led the team with a double and scoring twice. Stephen Pena (2015, Pflugerville, TX) added a single and a run. Kyle Schmidt (2015, Smithville, TX) was pinned with the only RBI. 

Bradley McKellop (2015, Paige, TX) pitched about half of the game with three innings. He gave up one run that was unearned off two hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out one on his 82 mph fastball. 

For Ronin, Jake Hamilton (2015, Granbruy, TX) led the team with two singles in the game. Two other teammates added a single each.

Quaid Gunnells (2015, Hudson Oaks, TX) pitched the entire game with no earned runs to score off four hits. He walked two and struck out three while touching 80 mph. 

Drillers Barely Fend Off Twelve

The Texas Drillers defeated Twelve 4-3 in seven innings.

For the Drillers, the team was led by their pitcher, Brandt Belk (2016, Houston, TX), who went 6.1 innings. He did not allow a run until the last inning with two earned runs. He let four hits fall without a walk and striking out eight. He ran the gun up to 85 mph. He has a good curveball that comes with depth. 

Offensively, Michael Berglund (2016, Corpus Christi, TX) roped a two RBI double and later scored. Mitchell Caskey (2016, Houston, TX) added a RBI single for his team.

For Twelve, Bryan Sturges (2016, Katy, TX) crushed a three run home run in the seventh inning to bring the game within a run. 


Schmidt Leads Action to 4-1 Win

The Action Baseball Club got a quality game at the plate from Kyle Schmidt (2015, Smithville HS, TX) as they took a 4-1 win over Alex Cintron Baseball. Schmidt, a Richmond commit, led the offense to five hits from four different players with a 2-3 game at the plate while knocking in a game-high two RBIs, a run scored and a double. 

Patrick Mora (2015, Westwood HS, TX) took home the win for the Action bullpen that saw four different pitchers log time on the rubber. Mora tossed the first three innings of the game and allowed two hits and one unearned run while walking two and striking out four with a fastball averaging 74 mph and topping out at 78 mph. 

Seay and Banditos One Hit Texas Stix 2016

The Austin Banditos defeated the Texas Stix Baseball Club-2016 3-1 in seven innings.

The Texas State commit, Weston Seay (2015, Halletsville, TX), led the pitching for the Banditos with seven innings of work. He allowed one run with just one hit. He walked three batters and struck out a dozen on his 90 mph fastball. He has a deceptive delivery with a a fastball that runs and can sink. Het sets up hitters while using his aggressive fastball. He pitches effectively inside and misses bats often. 

For the offense, Jacob Wyeth (2017, Austin, TX) led the team with two singles. Nicholas Garza (2016, Round Tock, TX) and Tony Oslovar (2015, Round Rock, TX) helped with each connecting with a RBI single. Taylor Barksdale (2015, Bertram, TX) roped a double and later scored.

For the Stix, Matthew Canterino (2016, Southlake, TX) knotted the only hit with a single. Trevor Jurecka (2016, Flower Mound, TX) scored the only run.

 

A's Elite Roll After Seven Run First Inning

The Arlington A's Elite exploded onto the scoreboard with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning as they cruised past the Mizuno Houston Select-White 8-1. The Elite offense knocked in seven hits from seven different players with Nick Evarts (2015, Grapevine HS, TX) turning his single into two RBIs, a run scored, two stolen bases and a walk. 

Allan Wallander (2015, Coppell HS, TX) took home the win for the A's Elite after tossing the full game from the mound. Wallander thew 76 pitches and allowed two hits and one unearned run while walking two and striking out three. 

Anaya Shuts Down Banditos on Mound

David Anaya (2016, Brownsville, TX) led the pitching duties with a complete game for the Sliders. He did not allow a run and just two hits. He walked just one and struck out five on his 78 mph fastball.

Offensively, Kevin Kopps (2015, Sugar Land, TX) led the team with a RBI single and a run scored. Beau O'Hara (2015, Katy, TX) added a double and a run. 

For the Banditos, Jacob Rodriguez (2015, Spring, TX) and Joel Rodriguez (2015, Spring, TX) each connected for the only hits for their team.

Twelve Take 5-1 Win Over Action BB Club

Twelve was outhit 5-6 and committed three more turnovers than the Action Baseball Club but was able to come out on top and take a 5-1 win. The Twelve offense was sparked by Ryan Leckich (2016, Port Neches-Groves HS, TX), a Baylor commit, and his perfect game at the plate, going 2-2 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a double and a walk. Bryan Sturges () added in a three-run homer to start out the third inning to kick off the offense.

CJ Verela (2016, Seven Lakes HS, TX) took home the win for the Twelve after tossing six and a third innings from the mound throwing 100 pitches and allowed five hits and one earned run while walking one, striking out eight and logging a strike on 66 percent of his pitches. Verela showed command all around both sides of the plate and a balanced, online delivery, setting up and attacking hitters with a four-pitch rotation featuring a late-breaking slider that flashes potential and a fastball averaging 83 mph and topping out at 85 mph. 

Twelve Take 5-1 Win Over Action BB Club

MD Johnson (2016, Red Oak, TX) led the pitching with five innings. He allowed two earned runs with six hits. He did not allow a walk and struck out eight on his 90 mph fastball. He has good command with sharp downhill arm action. He hides the ball well with his deceptive delivery. 

For the Stix, Hunter Markwardt (2015, Euless, TX) led the team with a double with a single and a run. Danny David Linahan (2015, Argyle, TX) knocked a RBI single to help his team.


Banditos Toples Heat 9-1

The Houston Banditos Black defeated the Houston Heat 9-1 in five innings.

For the Banditos, Garrett Wolforth (2015, Spring, TX) led the team with a home run and a single with two RBIs and a run scored. Joe Davis (2015, Austin, TX) crushed a two run home run as well. Michael Hickman (2015, Katy, TX) connected with a double and a single with a RBI and a run. Tristan Metten (2015, Lewisville, TX) added a double and later scored.

The Houston commit, Nolan Bond (2015, Spring, TX), pitched most of the game with four innings. He allowed one run and four hits. He walked just one player and stuck out three on his 90 mph fastball. He has a plus fastball and a plus curve.

Trey Jimmerson (2015, Cypress, TX) led the Heat with a RBI single, and Kyle Jeffcoat (2015, Houston, TX) added a double and later scored. 


Patriots Blank Texan Academy 10-0

The Dallas Patriots 17U Red put on an offensive showcase and shutout the Texan Baseball Academy 10-0 behind an offense that put up ten hits from eight different players. Ricky Perez () provided the power to the Patriot offense with a 2-3 game at the plate, picking up two RBIs, one run scored, a double, and a stolen base. Brayden Cook (2016, Richland HS, TX) chipped in a 2-3 game of his own, knocking in an RBI, two runs scored, a stolen base and a triple. 

Chris Burdine (2016, Coppell HS, TX) took home the win for the Patriots after tossing all five innings from the mound. Burdine tossed 65 pitches and allowed two hits and no runs or walks while striking out ten and logging a strike on 65 percent of his pitches. 

Austin BB Club Takes 6-2 Win

The Austin Baseball Club put up three runs in the second inning and took a 6-2 win over Performance Baseball. The Austin offense was outhit 4-5 but was able to take advantage of four Performance fielding errors. Bryce Symmes (2016, Jack C. Hays HS, TX) led the way on offense with a 2-3 game at the plate, logging an RBI and two doubles. 

Tyler Wilson (2016, Jack C. Hays HS, TX) took home the win for Austin after tossing the first four innings from the mound. Wilson threw 69 pitches and allowed five hits and two runs, one earned, while walking one and striking out six with a fastball averaging 76 mph and topping out at 80 mph. 

Banditos Score Late to Overwhelm Patriots

The Houston Banditos White defeated the Dallas Patriots 18U Valdez 9-3 in six innings.

For the Banditos, three players did not pick up a hit but picked up seven total RBIs. Anthony Smith (2015, Conroe, TX) picked up three RBIs while scoring twice. Samuel Hicks (2016, The Woodlands, TX) added two RBIs while scoring twice, and Zach Rollins (2015, Spring, TX) helped with two RBIs. Joel Rodriguez (2015, Spring, TX) and Jacob Rodriguez (2015, Spring, TX) each roped two singles with a run.

Marco Bercerril (2015, Springs, TX) pitched most of the game for his team with 4.2 innings. He allowed one run off four hits. He ran the gun up to 85 mph. 

Ryan Choate (2015, Dallas, TX) led the Pats with two singles and a RBI. Anthony Lepre (2015, Agua Dulce, CA) helped with a RBI single. Darius Hill (2015, Dallas, TX) connected with a double and later scored.

For the Sliders, Eddy Gonzalez (2015, Laredo, TX) led the way with three singles with a RBI and a run scored. Bernardo Martinez (2015, Laredo, TX) helped with a two RBI single. Jason Sellers (2015, Missouri City, TX) and David Anaya (2016, Brownsville, TX) roped a RBI single each.

The Rice commit, Mason Hellums (2015, Corpus Christi, TX), tossed the whole game with no runs and five hits. He walked one batter and struck out five on his 84 mph fastball.

Colin Lovato (2015, Fort Worth, TX) added a pair of singles with a RBIm and Beau Buessing (2015, Colleyville, TX) connected with a double and a single with a RBI.

Hunter Markwardt (2015, Euless, TX) tossed the whole game for his team. He allowed two earned runs with seven hits. He walked one and struck out four on his 83 mph fastball.

He has a heavy and explosive fastball. He has a long and loose arm action that comes with arm side run on his fastball. 

Kyle Bergeron (2016, Bridge City, TX) broke up the no hitter with a single in the game. 

The Mississippi State commit, Parker Ford (2015, Lufkin, TX), pitched well for the Sun Devils with five innings. He allowed one earned run with six hits. He walked one and struck out five. Steve Hodgson (2016, Kingwood, TX) tossed two innings and threw 93% strikes. He did not allow a run, hit or walk. He struck out one on his 80 mph fastball.

For the Pats, Ty Markee (2016, Georgetown, TX) led the team with a RBI single. Scott Clark (2016, Irving, TX) and Clayton Bilke (2016, Lucas, TX) each connected with a double to help their team.

The Texas Reds survived a late two-run push by the Mizuno Houston Select-Camo and took the win 3-2 despite being outhit 5-7 and committing three fielding errors to only one for the Select defense. The Reds offense was sparked by Tyler Gaines (2015, Mesquite HS, TX) and his perfect 2-2 game at the plate with one run scored.

Michael Floyd (2015, Mesquite HS, TX) took home the win for the Reds after tossing the first six innings from the mound. Floyd threw 83 pitches and allowed seven hits and two runs, one earned, while walking two, striking out seven and logging a strike on 69 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 76 mph and topping out at 79 mph. 

Stix Take 7-5 Win

The Texas Stix Baseball Club-2015 scored all of their runs in the final three innings as they stormed back and took a 7-5 win over the Texas Rakers, taking advantage of seven Rakers fielding errors. The Stix offense knocked in six hits from four different players with Beau Buessing (2015, Grapevine HS, TX) leading the way. Buessing went 2-3 at the plate while picking up two RBIs, a run scored and a double.

Trey Roach (2016, Argyle HS, TX) took home the win for the Stix after tossing the final four innings on the mound. Roach threw 48 pitches and allowed three hits and three runs, none earned, while walking none, striking out five and logging a strike on 75 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 73 mph and topping out at 76 mph. 

Chandler, Patriots Take 2-1 Win

The Dallas Patriots 18U Valdez got a standout game from pitcher Kevin Chandler (2015, Valencia HS, CA) as they took a 2-1 win over the Austin Banditos-Underclass in a pitching duel. Chandler tossed a complete game for the Patriots and allowed three hits and one earned run on 101 pitches while walking two and striking out ten, setting up hitters and changing speeds on a four-pitch rotation featuring a change-up, slider, curveball and a fastball averaging 81 mph and topping out at 84 mph. 

Kragan Kechely (2016, Vista Ridge HS, TX) is credited with the loss for the Banditos after also tossing a complete game from the mound. Kechely threw 92 pitches in six innings of work and allowed five hits and two runs, both earned, while walking three and striking out four with a three-pitch rotation featuring a curveball and a fastball averaging 77 mph and topping out at 80 mph. 

Patriots Rally, Win 4-3

The Arlington A's 17 Elite jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning, but was unable to hold on as the Rawlings Patriots-Baker rallied back to take a 4-3 win. The Patriots offense was sparked by Michael Lawson (2016, Oak Ridge HS, TX) and his perfect 2-2 game with an RBI, a run scored, a double a home run and a double play on defense.

Caleb Ralsten (2015, Second Baptist HS, TX) took home the win for the Patriots after tossing the first five innings from the mound. Raisten tossed 88 pitches and allowed four hits and three runs, two earned, while walking five and striking out two with a fastball averaging 78 mph and topping out at 81 mph.

Dogs Outlast E-Train 8-6

The UB Big Dogs jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning and was able to outlast a five-run burst in the fourth from the E-Train Baseball Club to take an 8-6 win. The Dogs were outhit 7-11 but were helped out by five E-Train fielding errors. Kolton Forsythe (2016, Oak Ridge HS, TX) led the Dog offense with a perfect game at the plate, going 3-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a stolen base and a double. Corey Harrell (2016, Samuel Clemens HS, TX) powered the E-Train offense to their 11 hits with a perfect game of his own, finishing 3-3 with a game-high three RBIs, one run scored and two doubles. 

Joseph Sanchez (2015, Leander HS, TX) took home the win for the Dogs after tossing the final two and two-thirds innings from the mound. Sanchez threw 42 pitches and allowed four hits and one earned run while walking none, striking out four and logging a strike on 74 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 77 mph and topping out at 79 mph. 

Action White Rolls Over Texas Athletics

The Action 16U White took control early with a six-run second inning and sealed the win with eight in the top of the seventh as they rolled over the Texas Athletics 15-1. The Action offense knocked in 17 hits with all 11 batters logging at least one hit. Ryan Bishop (2017, Hendrickson HS, TX) led the Action offense with a standout game at the plate, going 3-4 with a game-high five RBIs, two runs scored, two doubles and a home run. Javan Smitherman (2018, Sabine HS, TX) logged a quality game at the plate for the Athletics, going a perfect 2-2 with a run scored and a double.

Luke Malone (2017, Round Rock HS, TX) took home the win for the Athletics after tossing six and a third innings from the mound. Malone threw 85 pitches and allowed three hits and one unearned run while walking two and striking out one with a fastball averaging 78 mph and topping out at 81 mph. 

Texas Stix Rolls to 14-7 Win

The offenses came to play as the Texas Stix Baseball Club-2016 and Extra Effort combined for 21 points and 23 hits with the Stix coming out on top 14-7. The Stix offense knocked in 17 hits with every player on the roster logging at least one hit. Josh Lindquist (2016, Bryan Nelson HS, TX) led the powerful Stix offense with a 3-4 game at the plate, picking up two RBIs, a run scored and a fielding error. Garrett Horton (2015, Casady HS, OK) sparked the Extra Effort offense with a 1-3 game, logging two RBIs, a run scored and a double. 

Trevor Jurecka (2016, Flower Mound HS, TX) took home the win for the Stix after tossing the first five innings from the mound. Jurecka tossed 72 pitches and allowed six hits and seven runs, four earned, while walking three and striking out two.

Hamon's walk-off single leads Sliders to 3-2 W

Blane Hamon (2015, Portland, TX) recorded a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning to lift the South Texas Sliders (3-0) to a 3-2 victory over Ronin Bat Co. - Gray (0-1-1) on Saturday afternoon. 

Hamon had two hits, as did teammates Beau O'Hara (2015, Katy, TX) and Eddy Gonzalez (2015, Laredo, TX). O'Hara and Gonzalez each tripled, and Tyler Vlasek (2015, Missouri City, TX) went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. 

2B/RHP Bernardo Martinez (2015, Laredo, TX) struck out six in 5.0 innings for South Texas. The 6-foot, 180-pounder worked from a smooth, balanced delivery, firing strikes with good extension at 83-87 mph, peaking at 89. Martinez also showed a mid-70s curve and a mid-70s changeup.

Rice commit LHP Mason Hellums (2015, Corpus Christi, TX) struck out all six batters he faced in 2.0 innings for the Sliders. The 6-foot, 175-pounder displayed a large, strong frame and pounded the zone with strikes from an overtop arm angle at 83-85 mph with armside run. He also showed a low-70s curve.



Banditos walk-off in 3-2 win

Jerett Bell (2016, Friendswood, TX) scored the game-winning run on a walk-off error in the bottom of the 7th, lifting the Houston Banditos (1-1-1) to a 3-2 win over the Angleton Expos (0-2) Saturday afternoon. Bell also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Ryan Bertelsman (2016, Friendswood, TX) added two hits, two stolen bases and a run scored from the leadoff spot for Houston. Bertelsman displayed a quick, compact swing at the plate, driving the ball with regular contact. In the outfield, he showed solid defensive tools, including good route running and a smooth transfer in his throws. 

RHP OF/RHP Manuel Garcia (2016, Lufkin, TX) started and struck out nine in 5.1 innings for the Banditos. The 6-foot-3, 155-pounder displayed a long, solid arm action while working in the 78-82 mph range with armside run. He also showed good command of an upper-60s slider with good depth and late break.

C/RHP Cody Cummings (2016, Cypress, TX) tossed 1.2 innings in relief, sitting at 84-86 mph, peaking at 88. Cummings displayed good extension and a quick arm while also offering a low-70s slider with late break.

RHP Trenton Sholders (2016, Angleton, TX) fanned eight in 6.2 innings for Angleton. The 6-foot-4, 160-pounder was around the plate with all his pitches, throwing 80-83 mph from a lean, wiry frame with room to fill. Sholders displayed good life and sink on his fastball, and flashed a low-70s slider with good depth, and a mid-70s changeup.

Fueled by a five-run 2nd inning and six-run 5th, Houston Banditos Black (3-0) downed Action 16u White (0-2) 12-2 Saturday afternoon on Field 5 at Premier Baseball of Texas. 

Houston commit Joe Davis (2015, Austin, TX) led the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Davis displayed good bat speed at the plate, driving the ball with regular contact. Teammate and Texas commit Kody Clemens (2015, Houston, TX) also drove in three runs.

Oklahoma commit Michael Hickman (2015, Katy, TX) tallied two hits, a double and an RBI, while Texas commit Andres P. Sosa (2016, San Antonio, TX) went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.

C/RHP Tyler Pinkston (2015, Rockwall, TX) -- a Stephen F. Austin commit -- struck out three in 2.0 no-hit innings for the Banditos. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder sat in the 80-86 mph range. His teammate RHP Stephen McBroom (2015, Pearland, TX) fanned three in 2.0 innings of relief. McBroom worked in the 84-87 mph range, while flashing a good, low-70s curve which he used as his out pitch.



Drillers prevail in 3-0 pitching duel

C/RHP Ricky Arevalo (2016, Robstown, TX) tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout in the Texas Drillers' 3-0 win over Action Baseball Club 18u Saturday afternoon at the Cy-Fair Sports Complex. Arevalo threw 62 of his 103 pitches for strikes, fanning six. He worked in the 79-84 mph range, while mixing in an upper-60s curve.

His counterpart, RHP David Rodriguez (2015, Carrollton, TX) struck out four in 3.2 innings for Action Baseball. His fastball sat in the 81-85 mph range. Rodriguez also flashed an upper-60s curve.

Michael Berglund (2016, Corpus Christi, TX) and Brandt Belk (2016, Houston, TX) recorded RBI hits for the Drillers.

Led by a 3-for-4 effort from Isaiah Myers (2016, Houston, TX), Alex Cintron Baseball (1-1) beat Dallas Patrtios 17u Navy (1-2) Saturday afternoon at the Cy-Fair Sports Complex. Myers singled twice and doubled, driving in two runs and scoring another.

Cintron teammates Austin Kemp (2015, Houston, TX) and Nickolas Costa Galavis (2015, Corpus Christi, TX) also played key roles on offense. Kemp went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Galavis recorded two RBI. Jack Waggoner (2016, Forth Worth, TX) tallied the only multi-hit game (2-for-3) for the Patriots.

In 0.1 inning of relief, SS/RHP Montana Ellstrom (2015, Cypress Lake, TX) lit up the radar gun with six pitches in the 85-88 mph range. He also threw a curve in the low-70s. The offense's were dormant until the final two innings, but the Texas Stix Baseball Club-2015 rallied in the bottom of the seventh and took the win 2-1 win over the Prospects National Team. The Stix offense knocked in eight hits from five different players with Grant Jones (2015, Martin HS, TX) leading the way. Jones finished 2-3 at the plate with the game's only RBI.

Dylan Schneider (2015, Cleburne HS, TX) took home the win for the Six after going the distance on the mound. Schneider tossed all seven innings and allowed three hits and one earned run while walking three and striking out eight with good command and a deceptive delivery of a 10/4 curveball and a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 83 mph.

Patriots Rally, Take 4-2 Win

The Dallas Patriots 18U Valdez needed three runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally back and take down the WBA 4-2 despite a sloppy performance in the field with five fielding errors. The Patriots offense knocked in six hits from five different players with Hunter Seay (2016, Keller HS, TX) leading the way. Seay finished 2-3 with an RBI, a double and a run scored.

Gaby Martinez (2015, Keller HS, TX) took home the win for the Patriots after tossing the final inning from the mound. Martinez allowed no hits, runs, or walks while striking out two.

Angels Get No-Hitter , 12-0 Win

The Columbia Angels got a no-hitter from hurler Jacob Roblyer (2016, Pearland HS, TX) as they blanked the Texan Baseball Academy 12-0. Roblyer tossed the full four innings, throwing 46 pitches and allowing no hits, runs, or walks while striking out seven and logging a strike on 70 percent of his pitches with a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 82 mph.

The Angels offense knocked in eight hits from five different players with three players knocking in two hits apiece. Garrett Gray (2015, George Ranch HS, TX) led the way offensively with a perfect 2-2 outing at the plate, picking up two RBIs, two runs scored, a walk and a double. 

Wernli, Patriots Blow Out Prospects 12-2

The Dallas Patriots 17U Red got a standout game from Cody Wernli (2016, Allen HS, TX) as they routed the Houston Prospects 12-2. Wernli provided the most powerful bat to a powerful offense, finishing a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a game-high five RBIs and three runs scored thanks to a pair of homers. Nicholas Garza (2016, Coronado HS, TX) added in a perfect game of his own, going 2-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double.

Alex Griggs (2016, Covenant Christian Academy, TX) picked up the win for the Patriots after tossing all five innings from the mound. Griggs threw 90 pitches and allowed four hits and two runs, both earned, while walking four and striking out five with a four-pitch rotation featuring a slider and a fastball averaging 82 mph and topping out at 87 mph. 

Ronin and Banditos Battle to 1-1 Tie

The Ronin Bat Co. - Gray and the Houston Banditos battled to a 1-1 tie after seven innings couldn't decide a winner. Ronin knocked in four hits, one more than their opponents, but committed two fielding errors while the Banditos kept it clean in the field. Payton Rhodes (2015, Granbury HS, TX) finished with the game's only multi-hit stat line for the Ronin offense, going a perfect 2-2 with a walk and a stolen base. 

Banditos Outlast Aztecas 13-8

The Austin Banditos-Underclass and the Aztecas Baseball Academy put on an offensive showcase with the Banditos holding on for a 13-8 win. The Banditos offense knocked in nine hits from six different players with Christopher Adams (2016, Smithson Valley HS, TX) providing the power. Adams finished 3-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, a double and two fielding errors. Juan Sanchez (2016, Chavez HS, TX) and Joshua Salas (2015, Dobie HS, TX) sparked the Aztecas with twin 2-3 games at the plate as both players logged two RBIs and a run scored with Sanchez knocking a double and Salas powering a triple with a stolen base. 

Grant Gilmore (2016, St. Michael's Academy HS, TX) picked up the win for the Banditos after closing out the final one and two-thirds innings on the mound. Gilmore tossed 53 pitches and allowed five hits and six runs, three earned, while walking two and striking out three with a fastball averaging 76 mph and topping out at 78 mph.

The Texas Stix Baseball Club-2016 jumped on the scoreboard early, putting up all four of their runs in the first three innings as they took a 4-1 win over the Team Citrus Rawlings. The Stix offense knocked in four hits, all from different players, with Michael Chambers (2016, John Paul II Catholic HS, TX) turning his single into two RBIs to lead all batters.

Matthew Canterino (2016, Southlake Carroll HS, TX) took home the win for the Stix after tossing the first five innings from the mound. Canterino allowed two hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out five with a fastball averaging 83 mph and topping out at 86 mph. 

Bayou City scores two in 7th to salvage 3-3 tie

The Bayou City Gators scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to salvage a 3-3 tie with the Texas Rakers Saturday afternoon. James "Matthew" Hebert (2016, Humble, TX) hit the game-tying, two-run single, his second hit of the game. Teammate Jerry Maddox (2015, Dayton, TX) also had two hits and an RBI.

RHP/SS Jackson Godoy (2015, Crosby, TX) pitched all 7.0 innings for Bayou City, striking out seven. His fastball sat in the 79-81 mph range and flashed a good slider in the low-70s. 

Logan Wade (2015, Montgomery, TX) recorded two hits for the Rakers, and teammate Tyler Wernli (2016, Montgomery, TX) tallied the team's only RBI on an RBI double in the 7th inning.

2015 RHP touches 90 mph in 3-0 pitchers duel

OF/RHP Dustin Lacaze (2015, Lake Jackson, TX) struck out eight batters in 4.0 innings in Mizuno Houston Select-White's 3-0 victory over Team Rawlings Texas Bandits Black 17u Saturday afternoon. Lacaze allowed just one hit and did not walk a batter, throwing 39 of his 58 pitches for strikes (67 percent). The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder displayed a loose arm action and plus fastball in the 86-89 mph range with heavy sink, peaking at 90 mph. He also flashed a low-70s curve.

Michael Oyervides (2016, Pearland, TX) gave Mizuno all the scoring they'd need with a two-run double in the 1st inning. 

RHP Taylor Morgan (2017, Missouri City, TX) started and pitched 2.1 innings for Team Rawlings. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder hid the ball well and worked from a deceptive delivery, throwing 82-86 mph. Morgan also flashed a low-70s curve, a mid-70s slider and a low-70s changeup.

An eight-run 3rd inning keyed the MBA Raiders' (3-0) 8-3 win over the Arlington A's Elite (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Manvel HS.

Zachariah Vargas (2017, Pflugerville, TX) went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored for the Raiders. Teammate Toby Quiroz (2015, Pflugerville, TX) added two hits, a walk and an RBI to help lead the offense.

RHP Chris Pisella (2015, Hutto, TX) struck out seven in 6.0 innings for MBA, throwing 54 of 87 pitches for strikes. At the plate, Pisella went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

2016 LHP fires GC SO in Pence's 6-0 win

Ryan Arocha (2015, Houston, TX) and Jason Gonzales (2016, Houston, TX) recorded two hits each for Hunter Pence Baseball 18u in their 6-0 win over the Texas Athletics Saturday afternoon on Field 3 at Premier Baseball of Texas.

LHP Brennan Bowles (2016, Houston, TX) tossed a three-hit, complete game shutout, striking out eight. The southpaw worked in the 71-75 mph range, peaking at 77. He also flashed an upper-60s breaking pitch and a low-70s changeup.

RHP/2B Aldo Buendia (2016, Laredo, TX) struck out nine in 3.0 innings for Texas, firing strikes at 81-85 mph while showing an upper-60s curve and a low-70s changeup. Teammate RHP Javan Smitherman (2018, Kilgore, TX) punched out five batters in 3.0 innings, allowing three hits. He was clocked in the 79-82 mph range and mixed in a low-70s breaking pitch.


Gonzalez's HR keys 10-0 South Texas win

Keyed by an offensive outburst by No. 3 hitter Eddy Gonzalez (2015, Laredo, TX), the South Texas Sliders (3-0) downed the Angleton Expos (0-2) by the score of 10-0 Saturday afternoon at Alvin High School. Gonzalez put South Texas on the board with a two-run homer in the 1st inning. He drove in his third run of the game on an RBI single in the 4th. 

Tyler Vlasek (2015, Missouri City, TX) and Blane Hamon (2015, Portland, TX) also recorded two hits each for the Sliders. Vlasek filled the box score with two RBI and two runs scored, while Hamon drove in a run and scored a pair.

LHP Sage Harmon (2016, Portland, TX) tossed a one-hit, 5.0-inning complete game shutout, walking two and striking out seven. He fired strikes in the 75-80 mph range while dropping in a few mid-60s curves.

RHP Ivan Melendez (2018, El Paso, TX) struck out 11 in 6.0 innings for HTB in their 7-0 win over Extra Effort Saturday afternoon at San Jacinto College. Melendez allowed just three hits in the complete game shutout, while working in the 71-78 mph range. He also flashed a mid-60s breaking pitch.

Austin Cernosek (2015, Katy, TX) led HTB with two hits, including a triple, drove in two and scored a run. Teammate Zach Perez (2015, Houston, TX) put his team on the board with an RBI double in the 1st inning. He reached on a hit-by-pitch and eventually scored in the 3rd. Tucker Lichtenstien (2016, Houston, TX) drove in a pair of runs.

South Texas scores 12 in win

South Texas Black Sox started off strong with 8 runs in the first inning and did not let up after that as they cruised to a 12-0 win in four innings of play over Ronin Bat Co. - Black. 

Antonio Garza (2015, Warren, TX) finished the game 2-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.  Jace Selsor (2015, Reagan, TX) and Eric Marrero (2015, Reagan, TX) both recorded two RBIs in the win as well. Adam Rodriguez (2015, Marshall, TX) and David Worrell (2015, Sandra Day O'Connor, TX) did well on the bases as they both scored twice.

The South Texas Black Sox improved to 3-0 in the tournament with the big win. 

Late Scoring sends Lone Star to victory

Lone Star Baseball was down 3-4 to Mizuno Houston Select-Camo heading into the sixth inning.  Lone Star scored two runs and tacked on an insurance run in the 7th to seal a 6-4 win. 

Stephen Keller (2017, Hargrave, TX) hit 2-4 with 2 RBIs and one run scored for Lone Star Baseball. Reid Ballard (2015, Clear Springs, TX), Alex Britz (2015, Clear Lake, TX), Dru Orosco (2016, Sterling, TX), Cody Stone (2015, Hargrave, TX) and Andrew McWilliams (2015, Texas City, TX) all registered two hits in the win as well. Orosco, Stone and McWilliams also recorded one RBI each while all five players scored once.

Josh Lamb (2017, Monsignor Kelly, TX) and Nick Landrum (2017, Pearland, TX) helped provide the offense for Mizuno Houston Select-Camo. Lamb knocked in two runs while Landrum finished with 1 RBI and one run scored. 

Arlington A's escape high-scoring affair

The Arlington A's 17 Elite scored four runs over the final two innings and escaped by a narrow margin over the Nola Monsters - East Coast BB.  Arlington won by a score of 7-6.

Ryan Breaud (2016, Midlothian, TX), Shea Langeliers (2016, Keller, TX) and Blake Mooty (2016, Birdville, TX) all registered two hits in the win for the A's.  Breaud and Mooty each scored a run while Langeliers crossed home plate twice.  Five different batters recorded an RBI in the win.

Trevor Buster (2016, St. Paul's, LA) went 1-2 with 2 RBIs in the loss for Nola Monsters - East Coast BB. Marshal Alexander (2015, Alfred M. Barbe, LA) doubled once and finished with 1 RBI. 

UB Big Dogs defeat Houston Heat

The UB Big Dogs scored two runs in the first, tacked on a third run in the third inning, and went on to escape the Houston Heat 3-1.

Jacob Blatney (2016, Oak Ridge, TX) pitched a complete game for UB.  Blatney surrendered one run on five hits while fanning seven.  His fastball reached 85mph.  

Kolton Forythe (2016, Oak Ridge, TX) drove in two of the three runs for the Big Dogs.  Alex Hale (2015, The Woodlands, TX) registered the third RBI.

Anthony Pagano (2015, Atascocita, TX) went 2-3 with a double and the lone RBI for the Houston Heat. Pagano was an aggressive hitter with a confident approach. 

Early scoring leads to win for Banditos

The Austin Banditos scored early and often as they routed the Texas Reds 7-0 to improve to 3-0 in the tournament so far.

AJ Wolin (2015, Lake Travis, TX) pitched six of seven innings for the Banditos.  Wolin gave up two hits while striking out three.  He was credited with the win.

Brad Demco (2016, Lake Travis, TX) and Slater Foust (2016, Liberty Hill, TX) helped provide the offense for the Banditos.  Demco hit 2-3 with a double, 1 RBI and one run scored while Foust finished a perfect 2-2 at the plate.  Slater tripled once and came around for a score.  Ivan Vera-Gonzalez (2015, Stony Point, TX), a West Virginia commit, and Taylor Barksdale (2015, Burnet, TX) each recorded two runs scored in the win.

Neither Rawlings Patriots-Baker or Houston Banditos White could get by one another as the two ended in a 4-4 tie.

Anthony Smith (2015, Oak Ridge, TX), Jaxx Groshans (2016, Magnolia, TX) and Brylan Elmore (2015, Tomball Memorial, TX) all recorded two hits for the Banditos White.  Smith finished the game with 2 RBIs while Groshans knocked in one run.

The Texas Sun Devils scored five runs on 11 hits and blanked Performance Baseball 5-0 to get their second win of the tournament. 

Cameron Jones (2016, William J Brennan, TX) tossed all seven innings for the Sun Devils.  He surrendered only three hits and struck out five. 

Ford Proctor (2015, Monsignor Kelly, TX), a Rice commit, hit two doubles and finished the game 3-4 for the Sun Devils.  He recorded 1 RBI and one run scored. Proctor had a fluid stroke, good bat speed, and displayed being able to hit to all fields.  Shane Selman (2015, Alfred M. Barbe, LA), a McNeese State commit, hit 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Selman also scored one run. Grant Anderson (2015, West Orange-Stark, TX), also a McNeese State commit, went 2-3 at the plate and scored once.

Jonah Smith (2016, Mccallum, TX) pitched a complete game for Austin Baseball Club.  Smith allowed one run on five hits and struck out two.  At the plate, David Riojas (2015, Jack C Hays, TX) drove in two runs while Bryce Symmes (2016, Jack C Hays, TX) and Josh Burnett (2016, Jack C Hays, TX) were each responsible for one RBI.

The Prospects National Team defeated the Texas Rakers 9-1 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  Weston Brown (2015, Cypress Ranch HS, TX) led the way for the Prospects' offense going 2-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 3 RBI.  Bryce Couch (2016, Fairfield HS, OH) also showed well going 1-2 with 1 double and 2 RBI.  Luke Watson (2015, Concordia Lutheran HS, TX) and Angel DeLaFuente (2015, Klein Collins HS, TX) each collected 1 hit, scored 1 run, had 1 RBI and earned 1 walk.

The Bayou City Gators defeated the Texas Stix Baseball Club-2015 6-4 to pick up their first win of the tournament thanks to a 5 run rally in the bottom of the 6th.  Anthony Helleotes (2015, Atascocita HS, TX) led the way for the Gators offense going 2-3 with 1 RBI and Jerry Maddox (2015, Dayton HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Christopher Jackson (2015, Summer Creek HS, TX) also showed well going 1-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Bailey Mullins (2016, Atascocita HS, TX) tossed 2 perfect innings of relief to earn the win and managed to record 4 strikeouts.  Mullins featured a 77-82/83 mph fastball and mixed in a 67-69 mph curveball on the hill.

The Banditos Texas 18U tied the Action Baseball Club 17U 5-5. 

For the Banditos' offense, Austin Davis (2015, Klein HS, TX) went 3-3 with 1 double and 1 RBI.  Garrett Sandlin (2015, Foster HS, TX) added in a 2-3 day with 1 run scored and 2 RBI. 

Quinn Stroube (2015, Stratford HS, TX) pitched well out of the bullpen for the Banditos going 3 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 1 walk.  Stroube featured a 74-76/77 mph fastball and mixed in a 62-64 mph curveball. 

Tim Bechtold (2016, Copperas Cove HS, TX) led the way for the Action Baseball Club offense going 2-2 with 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Jake Mangrum (2016, Pflugerville HS, TX) went 1-3 with 1 double and Chance Medina (2016, Cedar Creek HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.

Twelve defeated the Rawlings America National 10-1 in their first game of the tournament thank to an 8 run 5th inning.  Bryce Blaum (2016, Clements HS, TX) helped lead the Twelve offense going 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Parker Bates (2016, Robert E Lee HS, TX) also showed well going 2-2 with 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 2 walks.  Sammy Blair (2016, Navasota HS, TX) added in a 1-3 day with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.    

Oklahoma State commit, Reid Morgan (2016, Foster HS, TX), earned the win for Twelve going 3 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 2 batters.  Morgan featured a 79-82/84 mph fastball and effectively mixed in a 69-75 mph curveball.

The Houston Banditos Black defeated the Texas Athletics 12-3 to improve their record to 2-0 in the tournament.  Garrett Wolforth (2015, Concordia Lutheran HS, TX) helped power the Banditos' offense going 1-2 with 1 home run, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI and 2 walks.  Houston commit, Joe Davis (2015, Bowie HS, TX), added in a 1-3 day with 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Texas commit, Andres P. Sosa (2016, Reagan HS, TX), added in a 1-2 day with 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 2 walks.  Continuing the strong offensive day was Texas commit, Conner Capel (2016, Seven Lakes HS, TX), went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI and 1 stolen base.  TCU commit, Zach Alaniz (2015, Carroll HS, TX), had a big day at the plate as well going 2-2 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 1 walk. 

Landon Miner (2016, Byran HS, TX) started and earned the win for the Banditos throwing 3 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and no walks, while recording 6 strikeouts.  Miller featured a 81-84/85 mph fastball on the mound and also effectively mixed in a 68-70 mph curveball.

Ben Ostrominski (2016, Round Rock HS, TX) earned the win for the Banditos tossing 1 1/3 perfect innings of relief, while striking out all 4 batters he faced.  Ostrominski worked fast and used a deceptive delivery with his 83-86 mph fastball.

The Austin Banditos-Underclass defeated WBA 5-4 to pick up their first win of the tournament.  Alex DeLeon (2017, Lago Vista HS, TX) led the way for the Banditos' offense and stayed inside the ball well to go 1-2 with 1 double, 2 runs scored, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.  Texas State commit, Ryland Cox (2016, Taylor HS, TX), also showed well going 1-2 with 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Marcos Castillo (2017, Stony Point HS, TX) added in a 1-1 with 1 RBI and Hudson Fife () went 1-3 with 1 run scored and 1 stolen base. 

Ben Ostrominski (2016, Round Rock HS, TX) earned the win for the Banditos tossing 1 1/3 perfect innings of relief, while striking out all 4 batters he faced.  Ostrominski worked fast and used a deceptive delivery with his 83-86 mph fastball. 

For WBA, Pedro Reyes (2015, Cypress Falls HS, TX) showed good power potential going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored, while Mike Galo () went 1-2 with 2 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.

Arlington A's Elite defeated Team Rawlings Texas Bandits Black 17U 6-2 to pick up their first win of the tournament.   Joseph Kolo (2015, Colleyville Heritage HS, TX) helped power the A's offense going 1-2 with a 3-run home run showing light tower power.   Nick Evarts (2015, Grapevine HS, TX) also showed big power and went 1-3 with a solo home run.  Austin Smith (2015, Nolan Catholic HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 double and Carols Reyes (2015, Timber Creek HS, TX) went 1-3 with 1 run scored and 1 stolen base. 

Chase Morris (2015, Martin HS, TX) earned the win for the A's tossing 3 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 1 batter.  Morris showed good command and used a craft lefty approach with his 77-79/80 mph fastball and mixed in a 65-70 mph curveball. 

For the Bandits, Rafael Nunez (2015, Plano East Sr HS, TX) went 2-3 with 1 double and 2 RBI, while J Robinson went 2-2 with 1 double.

The MBA Raiders defeated Mizuno Houston Select-White 6-4 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  David Tovar (2015, Hendrickson HS, TX) started and earned the win for the Raiders, tossing 6 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs, but only 2 earned, on 6 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 4.  Tovar featured a 71-76/77 mph fastball and mixed in a 62-64 mph curveball.  At the plate, Tovar went 2-3 with 1 run scored. 

Leadoff man, Cameron Sharp (2015, Hendrickson HS, TX), went 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 walks to help spark their offense.  Zachariah Vargas (2017, Hendrickson HS, TX) also showed well going 1-2 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Jaylon Brooks (2015, Hendrickson HS, TX) added in a 2-4 day with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 stolen bases.

Vasquez shines in Angels win

The Columbia Angels defeated the Dallas Patriots 17U Red 3-1 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  Jacob Vasquez (2015, Clear Springs HS, TX) earned the win for the Angels tossing 3 no-hit innings allowing just 1 walk, while recording 3 strikeouts.  Vasquez showed a quick arm and hid the ball well using an explosive 83-85/86 mph fastball and mixing in a late breaking 75-77 mph curveball.  He also impressed at the plate going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored. 

Cole Turney (2017, William B Travis HS, TX) also showed well for the Angels' offense going 1-3 with 1 RBI.  Austin Cross (2015, Montgomery HS, TX) scored 1 run, stole 2 bases and earned 2 walks.

Team Citius Rawlings defeated Extra Effort 9-0 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  Colton Buckner (2015, Garland HS, TX) powered Team Citius going 1-2 with a solo home run at the plate.  Sergio Macias (2016, Laredo Alexander HS, TX) scored 1 run, had 2 RBI and 2 walks, while Clay Barrett (2016, Cypress HS, TX) went 1-1 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Leadoff man, Austin De Leon (2016, Lone Star HS, TX), went 1-1 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 2 walks. 

Tyler Follis (2016, Sulphur Springs HS, TX) started and earned the win for Team Citius going 3 2/3 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and 3 walks, while recording 3 strikeouts.  Follis got good extension out in front and showed good control on both sides of the plate with his 78-83 mph fastball that he showed the ability to sink.  He also threw a 68-70 mph curveball that flashed potential. 

For Extra Effort, Koultan Eddy (2016, Homeshcooled, OK) went 1-2 with 1 double.

The Houston Prospects defeated the Texan Baseball Academy 8-2 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.  Austen Pulcher (2016, Goose Creek Memorial HS, TX) started and earned the win for the Prospects going 3 no-hit innings allowing 1 unearned run on 2 walks, while striking out 5.  Pulcher also showed well at the plate going 1-2 with 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 2 walks.  Alick Arnold (2016, Seven Lakes HS, TX) also pitched well going 3 shutout innings allowing 2 hits and 1 walk, while recording 7 strikeouts. 

Jordan Garcia (2016, Channelview HS, TX) also showed well for the Prospects' offense going 1-4 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Tony Esparaza III (2016, Klein HS, TX) added in a 1-3 day with 2 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Jacob Macias (2016, Channelview HS, TX) continued their big offensive day going 1-3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Hunter Pence Baseball 18U defeated the Action 16U White 9-1 to even their record at 1-1 in the tournament.  Chase Mendez (2016, Cypress HS, TX) started and won the game for Hunter Pence Baseball tossing 5 innings allowing just 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 3.  Mendez featured a 70-75/76 mph fastball and mixed in a 63-66 mph curveball. 

Louisiana-Lafayette commit, Johnny Rizer (2015, Cy-Fair HS, TX), led the way for the offense showing a fluid stroke and loose, strong wrists as he went 11-2 with 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 1 walk.  Sterling Motley (2015, Cypress Falls HS, TX) showed raw power going 2-3 with 1 run scored and Tommy Tolve (2017, Langham Creek HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.

The Texas Stix Baseball Club-2016 defeated HTB 4-1 to improve to pick up their first win in the tournament.  Alexander Steigler (2016, Trinity Christian Academy HS, TX) started and earned the win for the Stix throwing 5 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks, while recording 4 strikeouts.   Steigler featured a 74-81/82 mph fastball and also mixed in a 66-73 mph changeup. 

Soren Krug (2016, Southlake Carroll HS, TX) led the offense by going 1-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.  Leadoff man, Trevor Jurecka (2016, Flower Mound HS, TX), scored 1 run and collected 3 stolen bases.  Michael Chambers (2016, John Paul II Catholic HS, TX) also showed well going 1-3 with 1 run scored.

Weston Davis (2015, Klein Oak HS, TX) went 1-3 at the plate, with a double, and one run scored in the game.  Alexander Klitsas (2016, Klein HS, TX) finished 1-2 in the game, with a triple, and one RBI.  Cole Schroeder (2016, Klein HS, TX) went 2-3 at the plate, with two singles.

On the mound, Klitsas pitched four innings, giving up just four hits, no runs, and struck out four.  He had a fastball that averaged 78-80/81 mph, and mixed in a handful of off-speed pitches.

The Houston Banditos grabbed one early run in the bottom of the second inning, and thanks to strong pitching, defeated the Mizuno Houston Select-Camo, 1-0.

Christopher Logan (2015, Bowie HS, TX) pitched a complete game, giving up no runs, six hits, and struck out nine, in seven strong innings of work.  He showed pinpoint command with a fastball that peaked at 84 mph, and averaged 82-83 mph throughout, while also mixing in curveballs and changeups for his off-speed pitches.

At the plate, Jacob Wyeth (2017, Lake Travis HS, TX) went 1-2 with a single, and one RBI in the game.  Tony Oslovar (2015, Cedar Ridge HS, TX) and Ricky Martinez (2016, Pflugerville HS, TX) each contributed with a single a piece in the game as well.

For Action Baseball, kyle Schmidt (2015, Smithville HS, TX) went 1-3 with a single and one RBI, and Stephen Pena (2015, Pflugerville HS, TX) went 1-3 with a triple on the day.  John Michael Rodriguez (2016, Carroll HS, TX) pitched 5.2 innings, striking out nine, and gave up three earned runs.  He had a good fastball that averaged 86-88/89 mph, and mixed in a handful of off-speed pitches.  He showed good command of all of his pitches, and mixed in a good changeup as well.

Shane Selman (2015, Alfred M Barbe, LA) led the offense with two hits including a triple and an RBI.  Gavin Johnson (2015, O'Connor, TX) went 2 for 2 with an RBI.  Sam Wheatley (2015, Kingwood, TX) drove in two runs with two hits.  Booth started and threw 2 1/3 innings. He struck out three while allowing three hits.  Aidan Anderson (2015, West Orange-Stark, TX) came in next and threw 1 2/3 innings. He wrung up four while not walking a batter.

Bush dominates in win

Calvin Bush (2015, St Michaels Academy, TX) threw four solid innings for Austin Banditos in their 5-0 win over Lone Star Baseball.  He struck out seven while allowing just one hit and one walk. His heater was between 83-85 mph and touched 87. Slater Foust (2016, Liberty Hill, TX) threw three innings. He allowed a walk and k'ed three. Tony Oslovar (2015, Cedar Ridge, TX) led the offense with two hits including a double three RBI's.  Bryan Arias (2015, Marshall, TX) also doubled in a win.

Stephen Keller (2017, Hargrave, TX) threw 4 1/3 innings. He struck out six while allowing two hits. He threw his fastball in the mid 80's and touched 90 mph.

Houston Heat pitchers fanned 15 Gladiators in their 6-1 win.  Jordan Hicks (2015, Cypress Creek, TX) started and lasted four innings. He struck out nine while not walking a batter. His heater was between 85-88 mph and touched 90 mph. Anthony Pagano (2015, Atascoclta, TX) came in next. In three innings, he fanned six and allowed two hits. Trey Smith (2015, Cypress Creek, TX) led the offense with a double and two RBI's.  Baz pitched in with a single and two runs drove in.  Ryan Leftwich (2015, Cypress Ranch, TX) went 2 for 4 in the win.


Michael Walter (2016, Cinco Ranch, TX) led the Gladiators.  He had three singles.  Andrew Wood (2016, Hemphill, TX) pitched in with two singles while Hunter Wells (2015, Cinco Ranch, TX) singled twice.  Walters also threw three innings. He struck out seven while allowing four hits.

Hayden Brown (2015, Clark, TX) drove in two runs with a double for Banditos Texas 18U in their 6-4 win over Rawlings America National. Christian Tripp (2015, Klein, TX) started and lasted four innings. He struck out six while walking just one. His fastball was between 82-84 mph and touched 85. Colin Rickard (2015, Friendswood, TX) came in to pitched the last three innings. He struck out three and allowed Rawlings to just two hits.

Ty Hoecker (2015, Ball, TX) had a grand slam for Rawlings. Andrew Martinez (2015, Cypress CC, TX) pitched in with two singles.  Mason Stephenson (2016, Clear Falls, TX) threw an inning. He fanned two and allowed a hit. His mid 80's heater touched 87 mph.


Quiroz shines as Raiders win

The MBA Raiders defeated the Team Rawlings Texas Bandits Black 17U 8-1 in their first game of the tournament.  Toby Quiroz (2015, Hendrickson HS, TX) started and earned the win for the Raiders tossing 6 innings allowing just 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 8.  Quiroz featured a 78-82/83 mph fastball while on the mound and also mixed in a 64-68 mph curveball, a 68-71 mph slider and a 72-76 mph changeup.  He also impressed at the plate going 1-3 with 1 double, 2 RBI and 1 walk.  

James Wright (2016, Hendrickson HS, TX) also showed well offensively going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and 1 walk.  Leadoff man, Cameron Sharp (2015, Hendrickson HS, TX), went 1-3 with 1 RBI and John Vigil (2016, Hendrickson HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Jaylon Brooks (2015, Hendrickson HS, TX) also showed well going 1-3 with 2 runs scored, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.  

For the Bandits, Tanner White (2016, Cy-Fair HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 run scored and Oscar Sanchez (2017, Celina HS, TX) went 1-2.  

Evans helps Prospects top Gators

Robert Evans (2015, Liberty, TX) shut down the Bayou City Gators in the Prospects National Team's 7-3 win.  He struck out five while allowing two hits and four walks. His mid 80's fastball touched 88 mph. Nick Poinier (2015, San Ramon Valley, CA) drove in a run with a single.  Luke Watson (2015, Concordia Lutheran, TX) doubled in a run.


Jerry Maddox (2015, Dayton, TX) threw six solid innings for the Gators.  He allowed just three hits and struck out seven. He threw his fastball was between 81-83 mph and topped out at 86.

Team Citius Rawlings defeated HTB 7-0 in their first game of the tournament.  Hunter Edwards (2016, Cy-Fair HS, TX) started and earned the win for Team Citius going 4 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 6 batters.  Edwards pitched downhill and showed a long arm action with his 80-83 mph fastball and he mixed in a 70-73 mph curveball.  

Ryan Gonzalez (2015, Carroll HS, TX) led the way for Team Citius going 2-3 with 1 double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Alex Jackson (2016, Marcus HS, TX) added in a 2-3 day with 1 double, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Ezekiel Bear (2016, Cypress Ranch HS, TX) went 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored, while Sergio Macias (2016, Laredo Alexander HS, TX) showed a fluid stroke and stayed inside the ball well as he went 2-2 with 1 double, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Marshall Skinner (2016, Cypress Ranch HS, TX) also showed well going 1-3 with 2 RBI.  

For HTB, Ruben Hancock (2015, Kempner HS, TX) went 2-2 with 1 double.  

Davis powers Banditos to W

The Houston Banditos Black defeated Hunter Pence Baseball 18U 5-1 in their first game of the tournament.  Joe Davis (2015, Bowie HS, TX), a Houston commit, powered the Banditos' offense showing good extension and light-tower power as he went 1-3 with a 2-run home run at the plate.  Texas commit, Conner Capel (2016, Seven Lakes HS, TX), stayed inside the ball well and used a short, compact swing going 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.  Another Texas commit, Andres P Sosa (2016, Reagan HS, TX), added in a 1-2 day with 1 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 1 walk.  

Jacob Hughey (2015, Millikan HS, CA) earned the win for the Banditos going 2 perfect innings and striking out 4 batters.  Hughey attacked hitters and used a smooth, online delivery with his 85-90/92 mph fastball that had good life.  He also mixed in a 69-70 mph slider that had late breaking action as well as a deceptive 70-72 mph changeup that flashed potential.  

For Hunter Pence Baseball, Sterling Motley (2015, Cypress Falls HS, TX) went 2-3 with 1 RBI.

The Houston Prospects defeated the Columbia Angels 5-2 in their first game of the tournament.  Jacob Macias (2016, Channelview HS, TX) started and earned the win for the Prospects tossing 4 strong innings allowing just 2 unearned runs on 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 8.  Macias featured a 73-79/80 mph fastball on the mound and mixed in a 62-69 mph curveball and a 66-72 mph changeup.  Tony Esparaza III (2016, Klein HS, TX) also pitched well tossing 3 perfect innings of relief and recorded 3 strikeouts with a 73-78/79 mph fastball.  
Leadoff man, Austen Pulcher (2016, Goose Creek Memorial HS, TX), led the way for the Prospects' offense going 2-3 with 1 double and 2 runs scored.  Tyler Thornbrough (2015, Magnolia West HS, TX) also showed well going 1-2 with 2 RBI and Lee Thomas (2016, Cinco Ranch HS, TX) went 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 walk.  

For the Angels, Dylan Rock (2017, George Ranch HS, TX) went 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.

WBA defeated the Aztecas Baseball Academy 3-1 in their first game of the tournament.  Coby Smith (2015, Oak Ridge HS, TX) started and earned the win for WBA going 4 1/3 innings allowing just 1 hit, while striking out 6 batters.  Smith featured a 75-80/82 mph fastball on the mound and also mixed in a 68-71 mph curveball.

Edgar Briseno (2015, Macarthur HS, TX) helped power the WBA offense going 1-3 with a solo home run at the plate.  Mike Galo (2015, Klein Collins HS, TX) also showed well going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  Dallas Mirabal (2015, Klein Collins HS, TX) added in a 2-3 day with 1 double and 1 run scored.  

For the Aztecas, Luis Aleman (2016, Chavez HS, TX) went 1-1.
