Scorpions South Wins State Title with Walk Off

Scorpions South Underclass rallied from a 3-0 deficit, forced extra innings, and a single from Damon Irivis (2016, Lake Wales HS, FL) in the bottom of the ninth gave the team the 16U Florida State Championship with a 4-3 victory over Xtreme Baseball Navy.

Corey Brightman (2016, Charlotte HS, FL) and Sendel Jean (2016, Palm Beach Gardens HS, FL) drove in one run each for the Scorpions. Jean had three hits, Irivis recorded two singles, and Sean Shearman (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) clubbed a single and a triple. Josh Jano (2017, McKeel Academy, FL) added a double and a run scored in the Championship victory.

Caleb Jackson (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) pitched the ninth inning, and earned the State Championship victory. He allowed one hit, and his fastball topped out at 81 mph.

Giovany Lorenzo (2017, Cypress Lake HS, FL) drove in a run for Xtreme, and the team’s runs were scored by Jordan Lala (2018, Tampa Catholic HS, FL), Lorenzo, and Tyler Shuck (2017, Canterbury School, FL). Lala added a double in the extra inning loss.

Scorpions South Underclass Advance to Finals

Scorpions South Underclass scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and advanced to the State Championship Game with a 4-3 victory over FTB Sarasota on Wednesday.

Sean Shearman (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) drove in two runs and drilled a home run to lead the offense for the Scorpions. Sendel Jean (2016, Palm Beach Gardens HS, FL) and Jordan Austin (2016, Sebring HS, FL) drove in one run each, while Caleb Jackson (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) clubbed a double with two runs scored in the victory.

Trey Pearce (2016, Gulf Coast HS, FL) was the winning pitcher for the Scorpions, as he allowed two earned runs with seven strikeouts over five innings. His fastball topped out at 81 mph.

Michael Richey (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) drove in a run for FTB Sarasota, and recorded two hits on the game. The three runs were scored by Justin Fischer (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL), Edgar Brito (2017, Lake Nona HS, FL), and Cole Pencosky (2016, Braden River HS, FL).

Xtreme Baseball Navy Walks Off in Ten Innings

Xtreme Baseball Navy scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the semifinal game with FTB Max Bats to extra innings, and a Jack Mora (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) single scored Christian Menendez (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) to send Xtreme Baseball to the State Championship Game with a 2-1 victory.

Jordan Lala (2018, Tampa Catholic HS, FL) added a double in the victory, while Trevor Cramer (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) recorded a single. Tyler Shuck (2017, Canterbury School, FL) also scored a run for Xtreme Baseball Navy.

Gibson Bittner (2016, North Port HS, FL) allowed just two hits over three innings, and earned the win for Xtreme Baseball. His fastball topped out at 75 mph.

Siilas Grinstead (2016, Father Lopez HS, FL) drove in one run for FTB Max Bats, and the sole run was scored by Clayton Jeffries (2015, George W. Jenkins HS, FL). Jeffries, Alabama State recruit Kobe Lopez (2016, Colonial HS, FL), Mike Harkcom (2016, Masters Academy, FL), and Owen Von Esslinger (2016, Martin County HS, FL) each recorded two hits in the losing effort.

Scorpions Orlando 2016 Purple plated eight runs in the fifth to beat Beyel Brothers Bulldogs. Brock Howard (2016, Harmony, FL) drove in two runs with a single. Gabe Scavone (2016, Bishop Moore, FL) went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jared Cenal (2016, Tampa Catholic, FL) threw five innings and allowed five hits. He also fanned three and walked one. His heater was in the mid 80's and touched 86 mph.

Miami recruit, Mason Studstill (2016, Cocoa, FL) started and lasted 4 1/3 innings. He struck out while throwing an impressive mid 80's fastball that touched 90 mph.

Keller shines in win

Casey Keller (2016, Berkeley Prep, FL) allowed just two hits in South Tampa Prospects 1-0 win over Elite Squad 16U Slugger. In seven innings, he struck out six and did not walk a batter. His heater was recorded in the low 80's and touched 84 mph. Matthew Steckel (2016, Robinson, FL) had the Prospects only hit in the win.

Jagger McCoy (2016, Boca Raton, FL) threw seven quality innings for the Sluggers but unfortunately got the loss. He k'ed seven while allowing two walks and a hit in seven innings of work. He threw his fastball between 77-79 mph and reached 81 mph.

Jaret LaCagnina (2016, Naples, FL) threw seven innings and fanned three for Scorpions South Underclass in their 2-0 win over SWFL 16U Grey. He struck out three and allowed three hits and two walks. His heater touched 80 mph. Josh Jano (2017, McKeel Academy, FL) led the offense with two singles. Sean Shearman (2016, Fort Myers, FL) went 2 for 2 in the win. Caleb Jackson (2016, Lakewood Ranch, FL) drove in one of their runs with a single.

Jordan Spicer (2015, St Thomas Aquinas, FL) threw for the Grey. In six innings, he fanned two and gave up six hits. His fastball was between 83-86 mph and touched 88.

Wood K's 10 in win

Jacob Wood (2016, Oviedo, FL) strikes out an impressive 10 batters for BPA 16U White in their 7-3 win over Florida Surge. He threw 6 2/3 innings and allowed three hits. His high 70's fastball reached 82 mph and threw a good curveball to keep the batters off balance. Dylan Droke (2017, Oviedo, FL) singled in two runs. Isaiah Arana (2015, Timber Creek, FL) pitched in with a single and and RBI.

Shane Winright threw for Florida. In five innings, he fanned three and allowed two hits. His high 70's heater topped out at 83 mph. Both Paul Mcintosh (2016, Royal Palm Beach, FL) hit two singles in the loss. Travis Jacklin (2015, Royal Palm Beach, FL) went 2 for 4 with a double.

Tyler Shuck (2017, Canterbury, FL) shit down SBCA Mizuno in Xtreme Baseball Navy's 5-1 victory. In seven innings of work, he fanned nine while allowing six hits and three walks. His heater was between 78-81 mph and touched 82. Trevor Cramer (2016, Bishop Verot, FL) led the offense with a double that scored two runs. Alejandro Olivert (2016, Lehigh Senior, FL) also doubled in the win.

Alex Rodman (2017, Cardinal Mooney, FL) led SCBA with two singles. Leo DeLaTorre (2016, Sarasota, FL) started for Mizuno and lasted three innings. He struck out three and gave up three hits. He threw an impressive fastball which touched 83 mph.

Chase Montanez (2016, East River, FL) went a perfect 3 for 3 for FTB Sarasota's 8-1 win over Tampa Terror West. He had a double and two RBI's. Kenneth Blachura (2016, Hagerty, FL) drove in two runs with a single. Michael Richey (2016, Bishop Verot, LF) doubled in two runs in the win. Cooper Swanson (2017, Bishop Verot, FL) helped out with a triple and came around to score. Matthew Ambrosino (2016, Lakewood Ranch, FL) threw a complete game for Sarasota. He fanned six while allowing five hits and one walk. His heater was in the high 70's and touched 80 mph.

Kyle Koncal (2017, Jesuit, FL) knocked in Tampa's only run with a single. Connor Churchill (2017, East Lake, FL) threw five innings and fanned four. His fastball touched 80 mph.

SWFL tops FACTR

Charles Oberst (2015, Indian Rocks Christian, FL) went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI's for SWFL 16U Navy in their 4-2 win over FACTR 16U. Robb Adams (2017, Desoto County, FL) pitched six quality innings and struck out four . He allowed six hits and two walks. His fastball was recorded in the high 70's and touched 80 mph.

FACTR had nine hits but could only score two runs. Both Marco Benedettini (2017, Calvary Christian,FL) and Chase Arnold (2017, Clearwater Central, FL) had two singles and an RBI. Matt Sparling (2016, Matanzas, FL) went 2 for 3. Rodnie Bernard (2016, Hillsborough, FL pitched in with two singles.

Bo Bichette (2016, Lakewood, FL) led FTB Max Bats over Scorpions Jacksonville Underclass. He had two hits including a homer and three RBI's. Kobe Lopez (2016, Colonial, FL) pitched in with two singles and two RBI's. Josh Bonynge (2016, Cardinal Mooney, FL) went 2 for 3 with a double. Clayton Jeffries (2015, George W. Jenkins, FL) hit two singles in the win. Bonynge also started for the Bats. In two innings, he fanned one and allowed a hit. His fastball was between 83-85 mph, Kyle Wiseman (2016, Eustis, FL) came in next and threw four solid innings. He struck out three and allowed three walks. He threw his heater in the low 80's and touched 83 mph.

Skinner threw for the Scorpions. In six innings, he k'ed five while allowed three walks. Jonathan Dewane (2016, The Bolles, FL) went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Kyle Nuckols doubled in the loss.

Xtreme Baseball Navy Rolls to Semis, 13-0

Xtreme Baseball Navy scored four runs in the first inning, and advanced to the semifinals with a 13-0 victory over Scorpions Orlando 2016 Purple on Wednesday.

Trevor Cramer (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) and Jack Mora (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) drove in two runs each to lead the Xtreme offense. Alec Babb (2017, Canterbury School, FL) added two hits, two runs scored, and one run batted in. Tyler Shuck (2017, Canterbury School, FL), Christian Menendez (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL), and Christian Profitt (2017, Ida Baker HS, FL) each scored two runs in the victory.

Daniel Simons (2017, Avon Park HS, FL) tossed all six innings for Xtreme Baseball, striking out three hitters with no runs allowed. His fastball topped out at 80 mph.

The four Scorpions hits were recorded by Brock Howard (2016, Harmony HS, FL), Blake Seeley (2016, Spruce Creek HS, FL), Tyler Baum (2016, West Orange HS, FL), and Nick Allen (2016, Timber Creek HS, FL).

Richey Walk-Off Wins it for FTB Sarasota

FTB Sarasota rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the ninth inning, scoring three runs on a walk-off three-run triple from Michael Richey (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) to advance to the semifinals with a 3-2 win over South Tampa Prospects.

Richey’s triple scored Justin Fischer (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL), Edgar Brito (2017, Lake Nona HS, FL), and Cole Pencosky (2016, Braden River HS, FL). Tyler Mattes (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) added a double in the quarterfinal victory for FTB Sarasota.

Fischer earned the win for FTB Sarasota, allowing one hit over 1.1 innings with one strikeout. His fastball topped out at 82 mph.

The two South Tampa runs were driven in by Kris Terry (2017, Robinson HS, FL) and Chase Staley (2017, Jesuit HS, FL), while Shawn McGory (2016, Robinson HS, FL) and Parker Wessel (2017, Jesuit HS, FL) scored a run each. Mitch Thrower (2017, Jesuit HS, FL) added a double in the loss.

Scorpions South Underclass scored runs in each of the final four innings, and advanced to the semifinals with a 6-1 victory over SWFL 16U Navy in Fort Myers on Wednesday.

Runs were driven in for the Scorpions by Sendel Jean (2016, Palm Beach Gardens HS, FL), Robert Oettinger (2017, Charlotte HS, FL), Jake Hale (2016, Northeast HS, FL), and Caleb Jackson (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL). Josh Jano added two singles, while Sean Shearman (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) and Jordan Austin (2016, Sebring HS, FL) scored two runs apiece in the victory.

Damon Irivis (2016, Lake Wales HS, FL) tossed six innings with one run allowed and three strikeouts, and his fastball topped out at 81 mph to pick up the win.

The lone SWFL run was scored by Robb Adams (2017, Desoto County HS, FL). Adams, Jeremy Moser (2016, Wiregrass Ranch HS, FL), and Kevin Long (2017, Estero HS, FL) each singled in the losing effort.

Clayton Jeffries (2015, George W. Jenkins HS, FL) and Owen Von Esslinger (2016, Martin County HS, FL) drove in two runs apiece to lead the offense for FTB. Josh Bonynge (2016, Cardinal Mooney HS, FL) led the team with two hits, including a double, while Bo Bichette (2016, Lakewood HS, FL) added another double in the victory.

Rigsby Mosley (2016, Bishop Moore HS, FL) worked four perfect innings for FTB Max Bats to pick up the win. He struck out five hitters, and his fastball topped out at 83 mph.

Brett Buchman (2017, New Smyrna Beach HS, FL) was the top hitter for Port Orange, as he drove in two runs with two hits, including a double. Carter Schwab (2017, New Smyrna Beach HS, FL) added two singles, while Austin Gonalez (2017, Father Lopez HS, FL) clubbed a double. Killian McCray (2017, Robinson HS, FL) went 2-4 with two singles and two runs scored in the contest. Carter Anderson (2018, Jesuit HS, FL) went 1-1 with a double, one run and three RBIs. Shawn McGory (2016, Robinson HS, FL) also had a double, and finished 2-4 with a single and two runs scored.

The BPA 16U White scored early and often, putting up two runs in both the first and third inning as they cruised to a 9-1 win over the PTI Maniacs, holding the Maniac offense to only one hit. The BPA offense knocked in nine hits from seven different players with Setphen Morgioni (2016, Winter Springs HS, FL) leading the way offensively with a perfect 2-2 game at the plate while picking up an RBI and getting caught stealing.

Conor McNamara (2016, Oviedo HS, FL) picked up the win for BPA for his four and a third innings on the mound to start out the game. McNamara threw 72 pitches and allowed one hit and one earned run while walking four and striking out one, showing control all around the plate with all his pitches and a long arm circle in the back with a fastball averaging 74 mph and topping out at 79 mph.

FTB Sarasota scored in the 1st inning and held on the rest of the way to defeat O-City Orioles 16U 9-4 to remain undefeated. The Orioles tried to come back from an 8-0 deficit but fell short.

Sam Marlatt (2016, Father Lopez HS, FL) and Justin Fischer (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) led the way offensively for FTB. Marlett ended the day 2-3 and scored 3 runs while Fischer recorded ingled, had 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.

Spencer Stevens (2016, Cardinal Mooney HS, FL) had a solid outing for FTB lasting 4 innings while giving up no hits and striking out 4 on no runs as he was around the plate the entire afternoon.

SWFL 16U Grey scored the first five runs of the game, and claimed a 5-1 victory over Trinity Young Guns on Monday at Terry Park.

Bobby Stewart (2016, Naples HS, FL) drove in two runs for SWFL, while Michael Matter (2016, Canterbury School, FL) and Axel Cedarburg (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) drove in one run apiece. Stewart added a double, while Cedarburg scored a game-high two runs in the victory.

Matt Lepoint allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts over five innings. His fastball topped out at 82 mph.

SWFL 16U Navy scored a run in the final inning to force a 1-1 tie with Florida Tornadoes on Monday in Fort Myers.

The game-tying run was scored by Charles Oberst (2015, Indian Rocks Christian School, FL). Kevin Long (2017, Estero HS, FL) singled twice, and Oberst singled once in the tie.

Devyn White (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) struck out three hitters over three scoreless, hitless innings. His fastball peaked at 81 mph.

In a game with good pitching on both sides, Scorpions South Underclass scored a run in the bottom of the 1st inning and held on to win 1-0 against Tampa Terror West. The teams combined for just 5 hits in the game.

Jaryd Clary (2016, Lemon Bay HS, FL) tossed a complete game victory for the Scorpions. In his 7 innings of work, he struck out 4 on just 3 hits and no runs allowed while throwing a lot of strikes with a balanced delivery.

Eddie Duarte (2016, Fort Myers HS, FL) scored the lone run of the game on a dropped 3rd strike as he finished 1-3 at the plate for the Scorpions.

A 6-run outburst in the bottom of the 5th inning for Scorpions Jacksonville Underclass was enough to give them a shortened-game 10-4 victory over Elite Squad 16U TPX to remain undefeated. After Elite Squad tied the game up 4-4 in the top of the 5th inning, the Scorpions rallied for 6 in the bottom of the inning which ended the game.

Skinner and Trey Piesco (2016, St Joseph Academy, FL) led the offensive charge for the Scorpions. Skinner ended the day 2-2 with 2 singles, 2 RBI, 2 runs, and a walk drawn at the plate. Piesco finished the day 1-2 with an RBI, 2 runs scored, and a walk drawn.

Michael Campion was impressive on the mound as he picked up the win. Campion limited the opposing offense in his 5 innings of work as he struck out 7 and gave up just 4 hits while displaying a fastball from 83-86/87.

Mosteel Baseball drubs PBA White, 9-1. Ricardo Jimenez (Barbara Goleman, Hialeah Gardens, FL 2016) went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for Mosteel Baseball. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning. PBA White's lone run of the ballgame came in the third inning on a fielder's choice.

Alejandro Castro (Barbara Goleman, Hialeah Gardens, FL 2016) struck out ten, paving the way for a Mosteel Baseball win. Castro allowed one earned run, three hits and one walk over 5 2/3 innings. Matt Columbia (Port Charlotte, Port Charlotte, FL 2017) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, with getting the loss. The lead stayed with Boca Thunder Baseball 16U after the first, when it scored four runs on two run single by Joseph Graffeo.

Matthew Urabanek (Pope John Paul II, Boca Raton, FL 2016) got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over six innings with striking out four, walked one and gave up six hits. Kyle Dentmon (Cocoa Beach, Winter Park, FL 2017) lasted two-thirds of an inning on the rubber for the O-City Orioles Underclass before the call to the bullpen. He surrendered one hit and four runs.

Sousa and Zachary Grabbe (2017, Hagerty HS, FL) added two hits each, with each player recording a double. Dylan Droke (2017, Oviedo HS, FL) and Chase Ritter (2016, St. Cloud HS, FL) each added one run batted in and one run scored in the win.

Paul Mcintosh, (2016, Dade Christian, FL) and Myles McKisic, (2016, American Heritage, FL) each had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Florida Surge offense. Both players each hit a double and McKisic also scored two runs. John David Phillips, (2016, IMG Academy, FL) and Zach Odell, (2016, Royal Palm Beach, FL) each had three singles, one RBI and a run scored to contribute offensively. Shane Winright pitched three innings, only allowing one hit while striking out seven.

He used a fastball that averaged between 76-78 mph and topped out at 82 mph. Sorogada also had a nice outing, pitching four scoreless innings and only allowing one hit while striking out four. Tyler Waters, (2016, Creekside, FL) led the offense for Elite Squad going 3-4 with two doubles, a single, one RBI and two runs scored. The O-City Orioles 16U escaped with a narrow victory in their first game of the 16U PG Florida State Championship by beating the All American Prospects 4-2.
Alex Wiederhold, (2016, Timber Creek, FL) pitched five innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run while striking out six to earn the win for the Orioles. He used a fastball that averaged between 78-82 mph and maxed out at 85 mph. The Orioles offense was sparked by Jake Godbee, (2016, Father Lopez, FL) who went 1-3 with an RBI single and Taylor Malloy, (2016, Harmony, FL) added an RBI double.

Matthew Portis, (2015, Sebring, FL) pitched a complete game, three hit shutout to lead the Beyel Brothers Bulldogs to a 8-0 win over Broward Elite. Portis tossed five innings and struck out nine batters. He showed good command with his pitches and was aggressive with fastball, which averaged between 77-79 mph and maxed out at 82 mph.
The Bulldogs offense came from Dylan Owens, (2016, Cocoa, FL) who had two hits in three trips to the plate, had three RBIs and a run scored. Michael Pineda, (2016, River Ridge, FL) also had a nice game offensively, going 1-2 with a two-RBI single.

North Florida Storm 16U Black used a combined no-hitter from 2016 Kevin Stiles (Stanton College Prep, FL) and 2017 Jonathan Crowe (Paxon, FL) to shut out the South Florida Huskies 16U 10-0 this afternoon. Stiles threw 4 innings, struck out 5 batters and peaked his fastball at 83mph. He showed good command, good follow through and throws easy. Crowe pitched 1 inning and struck out 2 batters.

Jonah Scolaro (2017, Durant HS, FL) and Gunnar Hoglund (2018, Dayspring Christian Academy, FL) each went 1-3 with a single, one run and one RBI a piece in the game. Tim Elko (2017, Hillsborough HS, FL) also went 1-3 with a single and one run.

Scolaro pitched six complete innings of work, giving up one earned run on three hits, and struck out 13 in the game, while flashing a fastball that topped out at 84 mph. He was able to have good command of all of his pitches, and also mixed in a good curveball along with a slider, for his off-speed pitches.

Strickland pitched 6 innings for Tampa, striking out 12 MPi batters and peaking his fastball at 81mph. Strickland showed good command, control on both sides of the plate, good follow through, and a quick arm. He knows how to pitch, keeps hitters off balance and competes on the mound. He also showed balanced delivery and sound mechanics throughout his time on the mound.
