Florida Burn 2016 Pennant take title

After squandering the lead in the top of the 7th inning, the Florida Burn 2016 Pennant scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to win the championship game 3-2 against the Elite Squad 16U Prime. Rylan Thomas (2016, West Orange), a UCF commit, scored the game winning run on a fielder's choice.

Tyler Dyson (2016, Braden River) excelled offensively for the Burn 2016 Pennant going a perfect 2-2 with an RBI. Gabriel Lozada (2016, IMG Academy) also had 2 hits.

Israel Cordero (2017, Cooper City) slowed down the Elite Squad 16U Prime offense. He went 6 innings, allowing only 1 earned run on 3 hits, while striking out 6. He showed a great mound presence and attacked hitters well. Parke Phillips (2016, Out-Of-Door Academy) picked up the win in relief.

Nick McDonald (2016, West Broward), the Elite Squad starter, also pitched well allowing no earned run and just 3 hits in five innings of work. He competed well on the mound, and showed an ability to pitch out of trouble.

Colton Welker (2016, Marjory Stoneman Douglas) knocked in both runs for the Elite Squad 16U Prime.

Tates, Laezza Guide PBA Royal to 8-0 Win

Michael Laezza (2016, Ida Baker HS, FL) recorded a game-high two hits, Terry Tates (2015, East Loe County HS, FL) registered three relief innings of earned-run-less baseball and three different players from PBA stole a base as the Royals finished on the winning end of a 8-0 victory against SBO Florida 16U Monday morning at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic tournament.

Laezza, a 6-foot-0 catcher from Cape Coral, Fla., went 2-3 with a single, run scored, RBI and ground-ball triple down the right field line in the game, raising his tournament slugging percentage to .525 through four games played. Tates, meanwhile, induced an impressive 14.7% swinging strike and 88.9% weak contact rate in his three innings (34 total pitches), sitting between 73-76 MPH with his fastball. Tyler Yeager (2016, Riverdale HS, FL), Sam Mieses (2016, North Fort Myers HS, FL) and Ryne Schreiber (2016, Ida Baker HS, FL) reach recorded stolen bases in the game.

After going 0-5 (2 K, BB) in PBA's first three games, middle infielder Hunter Tinsley (2016, Riverdale HS, FL) broke through with a line-drive double down the left field line that led to a run batted in. Tinsley's 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame appeared athletic, large and strong with room to fill. He looked the part in the field, too, showcasing good fielding actions, fairly soft hands and a good first step. His arm had online carry with short action and worked well up the middle.

Florida Burn 2016 Pennant walk off in extras

The Florida Burn 2016 Pennant score 1 in the 7th and 1 in the 8th for a walk-off 3-2 against the South Florida Storm Blue. The win gave the Florida Burn a berth into the championship game. Zak Wilson (2016, Eau Gallie) hit a double in the bottom of the 8th that scored a run to secure the win.

Parke Phillips (2016, Out-Of-Door Academy) was hot from the plate going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Eric Kimsey (2016, Braden River) picked up the win going 5 innings and allowing no runs on just 3 hits.

Jose Oliva (2015, Nova) picked up 2 hits and a run scored for South Florida.

Elite Squad 16U Prime advance to final

The Elite Squad 16U Prime continued to impress in the tournament with a 6-0 win over the Upstate Mavericks 16U to advance to the finals. The 16U Prime rode the arm of Garret Rukes (2016, Pine Crest) who picked up the win. He pitched 4 1/4, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 5.

Alejandro Toral (2017, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy) was the offensive spark once again going 2-3 and adding 2 RBI.

Gregory Velez (2016, Key West) and Mike Amiditis (2016, Boca Raton Community) each collected 2 hits and 1 RBI.

Joe Satterfield (2016, J L Mann) provided the offense for the Upstate Mavericks going 2-3.

FTB Sarasota Edges GCBA 4-3

FTB Sarasota edge out GCBA 4-3 in a 2nd round playoff game Sunday afternoon. FTB Sarasota held onto a 1 run lead after GCBA scored 2 runs in the 5th inning to bring the game within 1 run.
FTB Sarasota got offensive production from Edgar Brito, (2017, Lake Nona HS, FL), who smacked a double in the game and had 1 RBI. Michael Richey, (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) also had a good game at the plate for FTB Sarasota going 1-2 with a run scored and 1 RBI.
Sam Marlatt, (2016, Father Lopez HS, FL) delivered a strong start for FTB Sarasota throwing 3.1 innings, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and tallying 3 strikeouts. Marlatt's fastball ranged between 74-78 mph and topped out at 83 mph. Cole Pencosky, (2016, Braden River HS, FL), pitched 3 strong innings of relief only allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.
Alex Perez, (2017, Cape Coral HS, FL), led the way offensively for GCBA getting on base 3 times with one hit, drawing 2 walks and scoring 1 run. GCBA received a good pitching performance from Parker Pillsbury, (2018, Seven Rivers Christian HS, FL), who delivered 3.2 innings allowing no hits and no runs while striking out 5.

South Florida Storm Blue do it all

The South Florida Storm Blue rode an impressive pitching performance and timely hitting to beat the Florida Surge 16U 8-0. Rene Arauz (2016, South Miami Senior) marveled in a complete game effort for South Florida. He went all 7 innings, allowing only no runs, 2 hits, and striking out 9 batters. He showed good command and threw strikes resulting in only 1 walk on the day.

Edison Rodriguez (2015, The Sagemont) connected on 1 hit and drove in 4 runs to lead South Florida offensively.

Matthew DiNenna (2016, Martin County) added two hits of his own, while driving in 2 runs as well.

Florida Burn 2016 Pennant win pitcher's dual

In a game that saw the two teams combine for only 5 hits, the Florida Burn 2016 Pennant prevailed 2-0 over the Scorpions 2016 Prime. Rylan Thomas (2016, West Orange), a UCF commit, scored the go-ahead run in the 2nd and picked up an RBI in the 4th, providing the offense for the Florida Burn.

Pitching was the main story of the day. Florida Burn's 3 pitchers combined to give up no runs and only 2 hits. Austin Bergner (2016, West Orange) picked up the win pitching 3 innings and striking out 5. He showed outstanding arm speed and lit up the radar guns sitting between 91-93 consistently and touching 94 mph.

Zak Wilson (2016, Eau Gallie) also put in some good work for the Burn 2016 Pennant. He pitched 2 2/3, allowing no hits and no runs, while striking out 2. He sat between 85-86, while touching 87 mph.

Upstate Mavericks 16U win wild one

After seeing no runs on the scoreboard for 7 innings, the two teams produced 8 runs in the extra frame ultimately leading to the Upstate Mavericks 16U beating SWFL 16U Grey 5-3. Taylor Patterson (2016, Eastside) provided a single in the top of the 8th that scored the first run of the game. They Upstate Mavericks never relinquished the lead after that.

Clayton Coulter (2017, Southside Christian Schools) also added 2 hits for Upstate.

Jacob Oaks (2016, Southside Christian Schools) picked up the win going 3 1/3 innings, allowing no runs, and only four hits. He velocity was impressive as well sitting between 83-86 and touching 88 mph.

Josh Wincowski (2016, Cypress Lake) was marvelous for SWFL going 6 innings, allowing no runs, just 3 hits, and striking out 7. He showed good command and a plus FB averaging between 84-86 mph, while touching 87.

Bobby Stewart (2016, Naples) had two hits and provided the offensive spark for SWFL.

Elite Squad 16U Prime offense too much

The Elite Squad 16U Prime knocked out 11 hits in an impressive 11-0 win over FTB Sarasota. Gregory Velez (2016, Key West) led the team offensively with 2 hits and 4 RBI.

Eric Rivera (2016, Charles W Flanagan), Alejandro Toral (2017, Archbiship Edward Mccarthy), and Derek Cartaya (2016, Monsignor Edward Pace) jumped in on the action collecting two hits each.

Prime pitcher Jesus Luzardo (2016, Marjory Stoneman Douglas), a UCF commit, earned the win in a strong outing. He sat between 84-87, while touching 88 mph. His four strong innings saw him give up no runs, no hits, strike out 9, and only give up one walk.

Elite Squad 16U Slugger wins in dominant fashion

Elite Squad 16U Slugger crushed North Florida Storm 16U - Black 10-2 in five innings Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Eight Elite Squad batters recorded hits and 10 reached base, including Jorge Iza (2016, Florida Christian HS, FL), who went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He also stole a base, one of the 10 bags Elite Squad swiped in the game. Leadoff hitter Alex Carballo (2016, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy HS, FL) stole two bases and went 2-for-3 from the plate. He scored twice and drove in a run, as well. Anthony Mulrine (2016, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

Jordan Hill (2016, Coral Springs Christian Academy, FL) was Elite Squad's starting pitcher and he pitched four innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two. His fastball traveled 79 MPH on average with a high of 84 MPH. Jagger McCoy (2016, Boca Raton Community HS, FL) pitched an inning in relief and didn't allow a baserunner while striking out two. His fastball ranged from 82-84 MPH.

For North Florida, Jordan Culp (2016, Columbia, FL) went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored while Jeremy Peel (2016, University Christian HS, FL) went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

SWFL 15U Navy Team shines

The SWFL 15U Navy Team scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning to break a 3-3 tie and prevail over the Miami Astros 16U 6-3. The two teams traded the lead 5 times before SWFL pulled away.

William Robertson (2017, Lakewood Ranch) reached base 3 times for SWFL. He connected on 1 hit and walked twice, while also scoring a run.

Jacob Eastman (2017, Port Charlotte) picked up the win pitching 3 impressive innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out 3 hitters.

South Florida Rampage look good in win

The South Florida Rampage knock out 11 hits in a 10-3 win over the Fort Myers Fusion. Kevin Ruiz (2015, Christopher Columbus) provided the offense for the Rampage going 2-3 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

Alejandro Castro (2016, Hialeah Gardens Senior) also added 2 hits and a run scored.

Giancarlo Garce (2016, Miami Coral Park) had 2 RBI and a run scored of his own.

Tanner Sherman (2016, Estero) provided the offensive spark for the Fusion adding 2 hits, 1 RBI, and a run scored.

Cape Thunder's two pitchers do it on the mound and at the plate to down SBO Florida 16U 9-2. Andres Fonseca (2016, Ida Baker), a Phoenix College Commit, and Gianni Williams (2016, Ida Baker) combined for 10 strikeouts and allowed only 2 runs and 2 hits in an impressive pitching performance for Cape Thunder. Each added two hits and one RBI at the plate.

Dante Ciminati (2016, Island Coast) also had two hits, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI of his own.

Florida Hardballers 16U Black win close one

The Florida Hardballers 16U Black hold off the Miami Suns 16U in a close affair 4-3. Tyler Buckner (2016, Sante Fe) put up big offensive numbers for the Florida Hardballers going 2-3 with 3 RBI.

Harley Hudson (2016, Forest) also had two hits and scored 3 times.

Kevin Muras (2018, Miami Coral Park), Andres Sanchez (2017, Miami Killian Senior), and Tyler Grant (2018, Gulliver Schools) each had 2 hits for the Miami Suns.

MPi 16U Navy score early and often in win

The MPi 16U Navy racked up 10 hits in an impressive 10-4 win over the Cape Coral Cannons. Juan Cueto (2016, Terra Environmental Research Institute) picked up the win for MPi. He was impressive in his 3 innings of work allowing no runs, no hits, and striking out 5.

Hector Vazquez (2016, Felix Varela Senior) had a day for MPi at the plate going 3-3 with 3 RBI and a walk.

Alvaro Valdez (2016, Westminster Christian) was equally as impressive going 2-2 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Christian de los Santos (2016, Doral Academy Charter) also had 2 hits and added 2 runs scored.

Trinity Young Guns hold on for win

The Trinity Young Guns scored in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings and held on in the top of the 6th to beat Team Prospect International 10-7.

Ryan Fontaine (2015, James W. Mitchell) provided 2 hits, 2 RBI, and a run scored for the Young Guns.

Kamren Powers (2016, James W. Mitchell) also had 2 hits and an RBI.

Fidel Castro (2016, Dominican Republic) was the spark offensively for Team Prospect International. He had a hit and scored 2 times.

The Florida Pokers Underclass Navy scored 5 in the first and 6 in the second to down the Elite Squad 16U TPX 12-5. Matt Mackey (2016, Manatee) did it in the box for the Florida Pokers going 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Rhett Rampinelli (2016, Lakewood Ranch) also provided a hit, 2 walks, and 2 RBI.

Matthew Cronin (2016, Navarre) showed life on his FB touching 87 mph in an impressive 3 innings of work on the mound. He allowed only 1 hit, no earned runs, and he struck out 8.

Josh Shrouder (2016, Coral Springs Christian Academy) had a hit and an RBI for the Elite Squad 16U TPX.

5 Run 3rd Leads Elite Squad to 9-1 Win

The Elite Squad 16u Prime offense ignited for 5 runs in the 3rd inning to give them the lead and a 9-1 win over Premier Baseball Academy-Orlando 16u. Elite Squad 16u Prime led 1-0 before the offensive came to life in the 3rd inning and the pitching held Premier Baseball Academy to a lone run in the 4th.
The Elite Squad 16u Prime offense was led by Jack Khawly, (2016, Somerset Academy Charter HS, FL), who went a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs. Alejandro Toral, (2017, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy, FL), also had a good game hitting going 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Elite Squad 16u Prime starting pitcher T.J. Densmore pitched a solid 3 innings only allowing 3 hits and striking out 3 batters. Densmore showed good command of all his pitches and was able to throw them around the plate.
Michael Dunn, (2016, Lake Nona HS, FL), had a good day at the plate for Premier Baseball Academy-Orlando 16u going a perfect 2-2. Quinton Martinez, (2017, Bishop Moore HS, FL) pitched a perfect inning of relief allowing no runs, no hits, no walks and struck out 2.

SWFL explodes offensively

The SWFL Prospects Underclass pushed across 12 runs on 12 hits in an offensive explosion to win 12-0 against Giants Baseball. 3 SWFL pitchers combined for the 2-hit shutout.

Jeffrey Daly (2015, Jefferson) led the offense totaling 3 RBI for SWFL.

Peter Defee (2016, Spoto), Tyler Lopes (2016, Seacrest Country Day), and Luis Medina (2016, Tampa Preparatory) combined for 5 RBI and each had 2 hits.

Back and forth game ends in tie

The Team Bownet Tampa Bay Warriors 16U and the Xtreme Baseball Navy 15U traded the lead 4 times before ultimately finishing in a 5-5 tie. A single by Joey Pina (2016, Riverview) in the top of the 5th inning tied the game for good.

Raul Juarez (2016, Tampa Baptist Academy) was sharp at the plate for Team Bownet Tampa Bay going 2-3.

Tyler Shuck (2017, Canterbury) provided the spark offensively for Xtreme Baseball going 2-2 with an RBI.

Masiello's Shutout Leads Storm Blue

Anthony Masiello, (2016, North Broward Prep, FL), threw a one hit complete game shutout with 6 strikeouts to earn the win in a 9-0 game against the JMBC Sentinels 16u. Masiello's fastball topped out at 83 mph which he can either sink or cut. He also mixed in a 12/6 curveball that flashed potential.
Masiello received offense support from Matthew DiNenna, (2016, Martin County HS, FL), who went a perfect 2-2 at the plate with 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs and drew 2 walks. Gregg Snyder, (2016, Piper HS, FL) also had a good game offensively going 1-3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
JMBC Sentinels 16u lead off hitter Eric Correa, (2015, Frank W. Springstead, FL), provided the lone hit in the game.

St. Lucie Mets Select win 7-2 behind six-run first

The St. Lucie Mets Select scored six runs in the top of the first inning and beat Attatude Baseball 7-2 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Matt Almeida (2016, Lincoln Park Academy HS, FL) went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored for the Mets. Almeida also started the game and went two innings, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk with a strikeout. Michael O'Brien (2016, Fort Pierce Central HS, FL) went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Ryan Griffith (2016, Pinellas Park HS, FL) went 2-for-2 with a run scored for Attatude baseball.

Busty Bulls come back from four-run deficit

The Busty Bulls trailed 4-0 heading into the fourth inning but scored in the final four frames, including two runs in the seventh, to defeat South Miami Select 5-4 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Hogan Townsend (2016, Park Vista Community HS, FL) went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. Dylan Jones (2016, Seminole Ridge Community HS, FL) also went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Jordan Bustabad (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) started for the Bulls and threw three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks with five strikeouts. His fastball averaged 74 MPH with a high of 77.

Gabriel Patrigde (2018, La Salle HS, FL) went five innings for South Miami, giving up two runs (neither earned) on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Brandon Sanchez (2016, South Miami Senior HS, FL) went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Carroll, Scorpions Win 4-1

The Scorpions 2016 Prime had a great day from their winning pitcher Cody Carroll (Mt. Dora, FL, 2016) and took the victory 4-1 from Hit Factory 16U Blue. The Scorpions needed five hits to turn in their four runs with three of those hits going for extra bases.

Carroll spent all seven innings on the mound and allowed only three hits and one unearned run while walking one and striking out six. Carroll showed good extension and tossed a fastball that averaged 80 mph and topped out at 83 mph.

Hit Factory was only able to get bat on ball three times over the course of the game, but were able to turn three double plays on defense.

Late-inning burst propels PBA Black to 9-2 win

PBA Black scored four runs in the fifth inning and five in the sixth to come back and handily defeat the Florida Pokers Underclass Carolina 9-2 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. PBA Black leadoff hitter Christian Faldetta (2016, Charlotte HS, FL) went 1-for-1 with a double, drawing three walks, scoring twice, driving in two runs and stealing two bases. Brandt Little (2016, Port Charlotte HS, FL) went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, one run and one walk.

Glenn Burton (2015, Labelle HS, FL) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and pitched five innings in relief, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and five walks with four strikeouts. His fastball averaged 75 MPH with a high of 80 MPH.

William Wormsbecher (2017, Pembroke Pines Charter, FL) hit an RBI triple for Florida.

SWFL 16u Navy 7 Run 8th Sparks 10-3 win

It took an extra inning, but the SWFL 16u Navy scored 7 runs in the top of the 8th inning to pull away from the Academia de Beisbol Carlos Guillen Oriente and earn a 10-3 victory in a first round playoff game.
Blake Carroll, (2016, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, FL), led the offensive attack for SWFL 16u Navy going 2-3 with a double, a run scored and 2 RBIs. Mason Eicher, (2016, Mariner HS, FL) also had a good offensive game for SWFL 16u Navy going 2-3 with a run scored, a walk and a run batted in.
Justin Mason, (2016, Lake Placid HS, FL), had a good day on the mound for SWFL 16u Navy throwing 4.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs and tallied 2 strikeouts to earn the win. Antonio Francisco, (2015, Bishop Verot, FL) also had a good relief outing throwing 3 innings allowing just one hit and recording 1 strikeout.
Jose Orta, (2015, Pembroke Pines, FL) had a good day swinging the bat as he went 1-2 with 2 RBIs and drew 2 walks. Victor Garcia, (2016, Pembroke Pines, FL) also did well offensively getting 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate, including a double, and scored 1 run. Garcia also had a productive day on the mound throwing 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and recording 1 strikeout.
Starting pitcher Peter Plaz, (2015, Pembroke Pines, FL), started the game for Academia de Beisbol Carlos Guillen Oriente throwing 2 innings and allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 3.

Surge Fend Off SWFL 6-2

Florida Surge 16U used a three-run sixth-inning to ice the game and take a 6-2 win over SWFL 16U into the next round of the playoffs. The Surge were able to take advantage of four fielding errors by SWFL and overcome two of their own to remain undefeated and advance.

The Surge were powered on offense by Bubba Sangster (Altoona, FL, 2017) and his 2-3 effort at the plate. Sangster recorded a double to pick up an RBI and a run scored, fueled a Surge offense that saw five players knock seven hits into the books. Max Fulton (Sarasota, FL, 2016) did his best to spark SWFL into a rally, going 2-3 and picking up an RBI and a run scored.

Nick Fernandez (Royal Palm Beach, FL, 2016) takes home the win after putting seven innings of work on the mound. Fernandez allowed four hits and two unearned runs while walking one and striking out eight and used a fastball that averaged 77 mph. and topped out at 81 mph.

Jonathan Chappell (Ft. Meyers, FL, 2016) is credited with the loss after three innings of effort on the rubber, allowing three hits and three runs, two earned, while walking one and striking out four with a fastball that topped out at 78 mph.

Arsenault leads Xtreme Baseball Red 15U to win

Andrew Arsenault's 4-for-4 performance from the plate helped Xtreme Baseball Red 15U beat the C.S. Clippers 10-5 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Arsenault (2017, Mariner HS, FL) hit a double, drove in two runs, swiped two bases, scored twice and pitched a third of an inning for Xtreme Baseball, who scored four in the sixth to end the game. Shawn Babineau (2015, Estero HS, FL) went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Leadoff hitter Reynolds Sheltra (2017, Treasure Coast HS, FL) went 2-for-4 with and RBI and a run scored. He also earned the win as the starting pitcher, lasting four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Conor Kelly (2016, Deerfield Beach HS, FL) went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Bobby Aseere (2016, Pompano Beach HS, FL) went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Pennant Stay Undefeated, Advance 4-1

Florida Burn 2016 Pennant stays undefeated and takes this game from the Elite Squad 15U Prime 4-1. Pennant allowed a run early in the first inning, but held Prime scoreless the rest of the way to advance into the next round. Scott Dubrule (Nokomis, FL, 2016) was the main power in the Pennant offense that only needed three hits score their four runs. Dubrule went 1-2 with a triple and picked up an RBI and two runs scored to lead all batters.

Joey Favetta (Seminole, FL, 2015) took home the win for Florida Burn after his two and two thirds innings work on the mound. Favetta tossed a no hitter to close out the game, with no walks and five strikeouts with a two pitch rotation and a fastball averaging 82 mph and topping out at 85 mph. Naturals 15U coasts to 9-3 win in four innings

The Naturals 15U needed just four innings to defeat the Miami Wolverines 16U, prevailing 9-3 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Garrett Hastings (2017, F. W. Buchholz HS, FL) cleared the loaded bases with a triple in the top of the first inning, in which the Naturals scored four runs. Hastings also drew a walk. Kristopher Allen (2017, Suwannee HS, FL) went 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Zach West (2017, Dunnellon HS, FL) pitched 2.1 innings in relief for the Naturals, giving up one run (earned) on four hits and two walks with one strikeout. His fastball averaged 73 MPH with a high of 77 MPH.

For Miami, Michael Cabeza (2017, Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Marcus Diaz (2017, Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Eric Wilson (2017, Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) went 1-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base from the leadoff spot.

SWFL Grey Prevail 9-5 over Carrollwood

SWFL 16U Grey survived being out-hit and a four run rally in the sixth to take a 9-5 victory over the Carrollwood Gators 2017 and undefeated record into the next round of playoffs. SWFL only needed eight hits to score their nine runs and were able to limit the damage that 10 Gator hits caused.

Billy Zeliff (Naples, FL, 2016) and Anthony Churlin (Cape Coral, FL, 2016) led the SWFL offensive attack. Zeliff went 2-4 game at the plate and notched two RBIs and two runs scored while Churlin, a UCF commitment made the most of his one hit by knocking it out of the park and picking up two RBIs and three runs scored on the way. Dave Crawford (Lutz, FL, 2017) led the Gator offense that wound up with twice as many hits as runs, going 2-2 at the plate with an RBI and a double.

Bryan Eberle (Alva, FL, 2016) took the win for SWFL after tossing five scoreless innings and allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out seven only 26 pitches. Eberle used a three pitch rotation with a fastball averaging 80 mph. and topping out at 83 mph.

Josh Bobrowski (Lutz, FL, 2017) is credited with the loss after spending four innings on the mound for the Gators. Bobrowski allowed five hits and six runs, three earned, while walking one and striking out two.

Isaac Valancy (2016, Pembroke Pines Charter, FL) went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, a double, an RBI and two runs scored for Baseline. Noah Rodriguez (2016, Pembroke Pines Charter, FL) went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a walk while Alexander Soto (2016, John A. Ferguson HS, FL) went 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. Marcos Aguirre (2016, South Dade Senior HS, FL) added a double, a walk a hit-by-pitch and a runs scored for Baseline.

Antonio Peetoom (2017, Pembroke Pines Charter, FL) pitched the final four innings for Baseline, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Starter Chris Otero (2016, Miami Christian HS, FL) went one inning and struck out two, sporting a fastball in the low 70s with a high of 77.

Hit Factory 16U Blue needed just four hits, drawing eleven walks en route to a 9-2 triumph over Florida Hardballers 16U Black on Sunday.

Kyle Langiotti (2016, Steinbrenner HS, FL) had two hits and two runs scored for Hit Factory. Cristian Docobo (2017, Tampa Catholic HS, FL) also added two runs scored. Nicky Gibbs (2017, Bartow HS, FL) and Zach Bacon (2015, Seminole HS, FL) had the other two hits for Hit Factory.

Mitchell Carter (2017, Tampa Catholic HS, FL) threw five innings for Hit Factory, allowing four hits and an unearned run with two strikeouts.

Tyler Buckner (2016, Santa Fe HS, FL) was a bright spot for the Hardballers, recording two hits on the day.

Maverick Offense Explodes, Win 14-2

The Palm Beach Shockers Maroon may have scored first, but they didn't score enough as Upstate Maverick 16U reeled of 12 unanswered runs to take a powerful 14-2 into the next round of the playoffs. The Maverick offense was led by Douglas Angeli Jr. (Spartansburg, SC, 2017) and his perfect 2-2 day at the plate with three RBIs, two runs scored, a double, and a walk. The Mavericks had four players register multiple hits with Clayton Coulter (Greenville, SC, 2017) adding two RBIs to his two hits, double, and walk. Travis Trisch (Boca Raton, FL, 2017) led the Shockers, going 1-1 at the plate and registering his team's only RBI and double.

Richard Gregory (Gaffney, SC, 2016) took home the win for the Mavericks after spending all four innings on the mound and allowing only three hits and two runs, one earned, with no walks and four strikeouts.

The Shockers used four pitchers, getting the most time on the mound out of Kaleb Inman (Loxahatchee, FL, 2017). Inman tossed two and a third innings and allowed five hits and five runs, all earned, with two walks and no strikeouts before being relieved by Kyle Weber (Loxahatchee, FL, 2016). Weber finished out the third inning and was credited with the loss after allowing two hits and four runs, two earned, with one walk and no strikeouts.

Tampa Terror - East cruises to 8-3 victory

Tampa Terror - East scored four runs in the first inning and didn't let up, beating Suncoast Select 16U Royal 8-3 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Tampa's Anthony Rivera (2017, Osceola HS, FL) went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. John Pichman (2016, Palm Harbor University, FL) went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Alexander Hrica went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Colt Mink (2016, Palm Harbor University, FL) was on the hill for Tampa and he pitched all five innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and six walks with five strikeouts. His fastball averaged 79 MPH with a high of 82.

Justin Tice (2016, Plant HS, FL) went 1-for-1 with an RBI, a hit-by-pitch and a stolen base for Suncoast. He also pitched two innings in relief, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits, three walks and a strikeout.

Pittman's shutout propels Valley Forge, 5-0

Logan Pittman (2016, Royal Palm Beach HS, FL) pitched a complete game four-hitter for Valley Forge, who beat the Orlando Baseball Academy 5-0 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Pittman gave up five hits and no walks while striking out eight in his seven innings of work. His fastball averaged 76 MPH with a high of 80.

Anthony Maldonado (2016, Palm Beach Central HS, FL) led the hitting for Valley Forge, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Brian Rey (2016, Deltona HS, FL) also went 2-for-3 with a run scored and stole two bases.

Cameron Stake (2017, Winter Park HS, FL) went 2-for-2 for Orlando, who used six pitchers that each lasted one inning. The team's final pitcher, Blake Baker (2017, East Ridge HS, FL), struck out two and didn't allow a baserunner. His fastball averaged 79 MPH with a high of 81 MPH.

Busty Bulls Walk Off over South Florida Prospects

Busty Bulls scored a game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 3-2 win over South Florida Prospects on Sunday.

Nick Shumilla (2017, Palm Beach Central HS, FL) came home to score on a fielding error off the bat of Kyle Berkowitz (2016, Loxahatchee, FL) to supply the winning margin.

Frankie Guelli (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) and Jonathan Prokos (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) each added two hits, and Guelli supplied the team's only RBI.

Guelli also tossed six innings on the mound without allowing an earned run, striking out seven hitters. Guelli topped out at 75 mph with his fastball. Morgan Mendez (2016, Wellington HS, FL) picked up the win by retiring the final three hitters of the seventh inning. Mendez tossed just three pitches, all fastballs that topped at 73.

North Florida Prevail 10-8

The North Florida Cohetes Underclass used an eight run spurt in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good in a high scoring game that saw North Florida prevail 10-8 over the CRFS Blue Rocks. Todd Lott (Jacksonville, FL, 2016) was the engine behind the North Florida offensive attack that marked 13 total hits into the book, going 2-3 at the plate with a double and a home run to give him three RBIs and two runs scored to put in the record book. The Blue Rocks had four players mark in doubles, but were unable to contain the North Florida batting attack.

Matt Tarrats is credited with the win for North Florida. Tarrats spend the final two innings on the mound and allowed two hits and three runs, all earned, with one walk and two strikeouts with only 13 pitches.

South Florida Storm White walks off, 10-8

Emilio Valdez hit a rare walk-off triple and scored on an errant throw to lift the South Florida Storm White to a 10-8 win over SCORE International 16U Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Valdez's triple was the third of the game for South Florida and it drove in Jonathan Hook (2016, J. P. Taravella HS, FL), who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Valdez also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. He showed good bat speed and drove the ball with regular contact.

Anthony Pascucci (2017, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) also went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, to go along with his starting pitching duties. He threw 2.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned). His fastball averaged 71 MPH with a high of 75 MPH. James Wing (2017, Charles W Flanagan HS, FL) hit the other triple for South Florida, driving in three runs and scoring once. He pitched, as well, giving up two runs (both earned) in two innings of work.

Ben Pelletier (2016, homeschool, Canada) led the way for SCORE, going 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base. Leadoff hitter Cristian Sieman (2017, East Lake HS, FL) reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. He also stole two bases. Pablo Jimenez (2017, Dominican Republic) went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Mason Turner (2016, Mason HS, FL) went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Shameko Smith (2016, Faith Baptist Christian HS, FL) started for SCORE and gave up six runs (five earned) over two innings. His explosive fastball traveled 81-85 MPH with a high of 86. He also had a good slider, outstanding arm speed and a smooth delivery.

Strong pitching lead Shockers Maroon to 1-0 win

The Palm Beach Shockers Maroon defeated SWFL Prospects Underclass 1-0 on Sunday morning behind strong pitching from starter Matthew Levine (2017, Olympic Heights Community HS, FL) and reliever Kaleb Inman (2017, Seminole Ridge Community HS, FL). Levine pitched the first 6 innings of the game to earn the win before giving way to Inman. He struck out 6 batters, while surrendering 0 runs on 3 hits. Inman covered the last inning to earn the save.

Dylan Korte (2017, The Kings Academy, FL) led the Shockers on offense with a perfect 2-2 day at the plate. Hunter Brennan (2017, Park Vista Community HS, FL) scored the only run of the game and was 1-2 with a stolen base.

For the SWFL Prospects Underclass, Tyler Lala (2017, Tampa Catholic HS, FL) finished the game 1-1 and Tyler Lopes (2016, Seacrest County Day HS, FL) was 1-2 with a stolen base.

Late Run Dooms Angels 13-4

MPi 15U took a 6-4 lead into the seventh inning and finished out the game with a 13-4 victory over the Florida Baseball Heaven Angels Grey after a seven run stretch. MPi was able to take advantage of five fielding errors by the Angels on their way to the victory.

Trei Cruz (Miami, FL, 2017) and Juan Vigueras (Miami, FL, 2017) led the offensive charge for MPi with Cruz going 3-3 at the plate with a walk, a double and three runs scored while Vigueras and his 2-4 day at the plate with two RBIs, a run scored and a double to lead an offense that had 12 total hits and eight total RBIs. Jeffrey Corona (Lakeland, FL, 2017) put in a 3-3 day at the plate with an RBI to lead the Angels offense.

Louie Hall (Miami, FL, 2017) is credited with the win for MPi after five innings on the mound. Hall allowed seven hits and four runs, three earned, while walking two and striking out one. Hall was relieved in the sixth by Alvaro Alvarez (Miami, FL, 2017) who kept the final two innings scoreless and allowed two hits, no walks and one strikeout.

Adam Sevier (Valrico, FL, 2017) takes the loss for the Angles after spending three and two thirds innings on the mound. Sevier allowed seven hits and five runs, two earned, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Lewis strikes out 10 in Carrollwood's 7-4 win

The Carrollwood Gators 2017 won on Sunday over the Cape Coral Cannons 7-4. The Cannons were held scoreless until the final inning by starter Matthew Lewis (2017, Sickles HS, FL) and his strong performance. Lewis threw all 7 innings for the Gators and struck out 10 batters. He showed great command of his fastball that averaged a velocity of 73-78, throwing 77% of pitches for strikes.

Offensively the Gators were led by Patrick Morris (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) and Kenny Rodriguez (2017, Gaither HS, FL). Morris finished the game 2-4 with a run scored and 3 RBI's. Rodriguez went 2-3 on the day with a double, 2 RBI's and a walk. Another double was added by CJ Van Eyk (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL), who also scored a run.

Cody Hill (2017, Ida Baker HS, FL) and Willie Trenum (2017, Cape Coral HS, FL) both slugged doubles for the Cannons. Hill finished 1-3 with a double and 2 RBI's.

Suncoast Select Survive, Win 9-8

A three run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning by the Florida Baseball Heaven Angels Gold fell one run short, and the Suncoast Select 16U Blue escaped with a 9-8 win. Max Law (Land O' Lakes, FL, 2017) provided the motor for the Suncoast offensive engine, going 3-4 at the plate with a double, two RBIs and a run scored to spark an offense that racked up 10 total hits. Matthew Moclair (Seffner, FL, 2016) led the Angels at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Suncoast Select 16U Blue used a four pitcher bullpen in this game, getting the most success from Partick Herbert (Lutz, FL, 2017). Herbert allowed three hits and one earned run, with no walks or strikeouts during his two innings of work. Taylor Getz (Lutz, FL, 2017) worked two innings for Suncoast, allowing four hits and four runs, three earned, with three walks and one strikeouts. Getz tossed a fastball averaging 74 mph and topping out at 81mph.

Jesse Falik (2015, Francis Lewis HS, NY) pitched all seven innings in dominant fashion for the Long Island Pirates 16U, who beat the Florida Hardballers 16U 2-0 Sunday at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic. Falik gave up one hit -- a double to Codie Lunday (2017, Belleview HS, FL) -- while walking three and striking out four on 98 pitches. His fastball traveled 68-72 MPH, with a high of 76 MPH. He also went 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored from the leadoff spot in the lineup.

Elijah Taveras (2015, Valley Stream Central HS, NY) drove in Falik and Thomas Logan (2016, Valley Stream Central HS, NY), who walked, on a double in the third inning. Taveras went 2-for-3, displaying a fluid stroke, a sound hitting approach and a live to go along with good running ability.

Florida starting pitcher Spencer Haire (2016, Santa Fe HS, FL) didn't give up a hit in his two innings of work while walking one and striking out two. He displayed an overpowering fastball, which averaged 76 MPH with a high of 78 MPH.

Elite Squad 16U TPX win close game, 7-6

Elite Squad 16U TPX edged out the Trinity Young Guns on Sunday 7-6 to advance. Elite Squad was led at the plate by 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention Ryan Hernandez (2016, Christopher Columbus HS, FL) and Conor McCormack (2016, Boca Raton Christian HS, FL), who each had 2 RBI's. Hernandez finished 1-3 with 1 run scored, a triple, and 2 RBI. David Flores (2016, Western HS, FL), Matthew Patricio (2016, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy HS, FL), Elijiah Eusebio (2016, Coral Gables Senior HS, FL) and Dalton Senger (2016, Boca Raton Community HS, FL) all had doubles for the winners.

Nik Sanders (2016, J.P. Taravella HS, FL) started the game on the mound for Elite Squad 16U TPX and threw 3 quality innings. Sanders featured a 76-79 mph fastball that reached 82, and struck out 4 batters in his start. He threw 68% of his pitches for strikes and allowed only 2 hits. Daniel Rivero (2016, Pembroke Pines Charter HS, FL) handled the final hitter of the game and struck him out on three pitches with a fastball that averaged 80-82 mph and reached a maximum velocity of 84 mph.

Furious Terror Rally Leads to 12-9 Win

Baseline 16U White had built up an 8-4 lead going into sixth after scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Tampa Terror - West put on their rally caps and turned that 8-4 deficit into a 12-4 lead after dropping eight runs in the sixth inning to grab victory from the jaws of defeat. The Terror had seven players register a total of 12 RBIs and were sparked by Ben Sisarsky (Tampa, FL 2016) who's 1-4 hit in the sixth gained him three RBIs and put his team over the top to win the game.

Tampa Terror-West dug deep into the bullpen, using a total of six pitchers over the course of the game with Colton Gordon Zimring (St. Petersburg, FL, 2016) taking home the win. Zimring allowed two hits and one unearned run while walking one with no strikeouts in his one inning of work at the end of the game.

Baseline 16U White also used a six pitcher bullpen, with Michael Mendez (Sunny Isles Beach, FL, 2016) credited with the loss. Mendez tossed the sixth inning and allowed one hit and five runs, all earned, with four walks and one strikeout.

Brown leads Predators Baseball to 8-3 victory

Predators Baseball defeated SBO Florida 16U Sunday thanks to Michael Brown's (2016, Wekiva HS, FL) big game. Brown powered Predators Baseball to victory with a triple and a double. He finished the game 2-3 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Henry Santiago (2017, University HS, FL) also scored 1 run and doubled, and Jaylen Young (2017, Wekiva HS, FL) scored 1 run, tripled and had 1 RBI. Garrett Evans (2018, Apopka HS, FL) and Jack Holmgren (2016, Montverde Academy, FL) each stole 2 bases in the game.

Santiago closed out the game for Predators Baseball, pitching one scoreless inning in which he struck out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. He showed great command of his fastball by throwing 87% of his pitches for strikes and displayed his great arm speed with a 85-86 mph fastball.

Justin McDaniels (2017, Coral Glades HS, FL) paced the SBO Florida 16U offense with 2 hits in 2 at-bats and a run scored. Shortstop Luis Colon (2016, St. Mary HS, PR) finished 1-2 with 2 RBI. Philip Quinn (2016, Coral Springs HS, FL) and Mitch Rodriguez (2015, Coral Glades HS, FL) both doubled in the loss.

Rodriguez's clutch RBI helps Prime to W

Elite Squad 15u Prime defeated the Gamewear Nationals 3-2 thanks to a clutch 7th inning RBI single from Angel Rodriguez (2017, Monsignor Edward Pace HS, FL). Rodriguez also picked up the win on the mound going 3 shutout innings allowing 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4 featuring a 73-79/80 mph fastball.

Also for the Prime's offense, Mark Vientos (2017, Charles W Flanagan HS, FL) put together a nice day at the plate going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 RBI.

For the Nationals, starter, Chris Rodriguez (2016, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL) showed good arm strength on his fastball which sat between 78-81/83 mph in his 6 2/3 innings allowing only 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5.

Tyler Perez (2016, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL) went 2-4 for the Nationals offense scoring both of their runs showing a patient approach at the plate to go along with a quick bat.

Faladeau and Giants Down Huskies 9-4

Malcolm Falardeau (St. Thomas, VI, 2018) went a perfect 1-1 at the plate with three walks and three runs scored to help power a Giants Baseball offense that only needed six hits to take a 9-4 victory over the South Florida Huskies 16U. Utility man Gweshaughn Richards (Amalie Virgin, VI, 2016) led the South Florida offense with a 2-3 effort at the plate with two RBIs and sparked a three-run sixth-inning rally that ultimately fell short.

Jahmoi Percival (St. Thomas, VI, 2016) takes home the win after tossing all seven innings for the Giants and allowed five hits and four runs, two earned, with two walks and nine strikeouts. Percival used a three pitch rotation that saw a fastball averaging 76 mph, topping out at 81 mph and was able to find the strike zone on 61 percent of his pitches.

Richards is credited with the loss for the Huskies after a three-inning effort on the mound, allowing three hits and three runs, two earned, while walking three and striking out three before being relieved in the fourth. Richards short-armed the ball while he pitched, but was able to toss a fastball that averaged 75 mph and topped out at 81 mph.

Baseline 16U Navy Shuts Out Hit Factory

Baseline 16U Navy used a strong all-around performance to top Hit Factory 16U Black 8-0 on Sunday.

Leading the way for Baseline was Tomas Hernandez (2016, Barbara Goleman HS, FL) who went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs batted in. Noah Rodriguez (2016, Pembroke Pines Charter HS, FL) was the leading run producer, driving in three runs to go with his two hits. Willie Escala (2017, South Dade HS, FL) and Jarrett Pico (2016, Palmer Trinity HS, FL) added two hits each.

Baseline pitching was also stellar, allowing just three hits while keeping Hit Factory scoreless. Xavier Moreno (2016, Ferguson HS, FL) pitched three innings, allowing just two hits and recording one strikeout. Moreno's fastball topped out at 72 mph. Franco Velasquez (2016, Varela HS, FL) tossed four innings, surrendering only one hit and striking out three, and his fastball reached 81 mph.

Hit Factory received hits from Evan Plamann (2017, Tampa Catholic HS, FL) and Jordan Enriquez (2016, Tampa Catholic HS, FL).

Myles Mylet (2017, Tampa Catholic HS, FL) had a solid outing as well, allowing just one earned run over three innings of work. Mylet's fastball peaked at 74 mph.

The Prime were lead by a trio of bats including, Alejandro Toral (2017, Archbishop Edward McCarthy HS, FL), Joseph Perez (2017, American Heritage HS, FL) and Gregory Velez (2016, Key West, FL) who all had impressive days at the plate. Toral showed a live bat and power potential going 2-2 with 1 double, 1 triple, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Perez stayed inside the ball well going 2-2 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI. Velez went 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI to cap a huge day for the Prime offensively.

Prime starter, Tyler Santana (2016, Coral Gables Senior, FL), earned the win going 4 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 5. Santana showed a quick arm on his 80-83/85 mph fastball which had good arm-side run while also showing a deceptive low 70's changeup.

For the Eagles, Evan Valverde (2016, G. Holmes Braddock HS, FL) went 1-2 with 1 double and knocked in the team's lone run.

Arredondo slugs Florida Hardballers to 6-4 win

The Florida Hardballers 16U Red won Sunday morning 6-4 over Attatude Baseball behind Jacinto Arredondo's (2016, South Sumter HS, FL) big day at the plate. Arredondo smashed 2 doubles in the game and finished 2-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Riley Ferrer (2016, Forest HS, FL), Hagan Samson (2016, Forest HS, FL), and Samuel McMillian (2017, Suwannee HS, FL) also doubled in the game. Samson finished 1-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. McMillian scored 2 runs as well for the winners.

Josh Boyette (2017, Suwannee HS, FL) started the game for the Hardballers 16U Red team and pitched 3 solid innings. Boyette held Attatude to only 1 hit and struck out 4, and showed his heavy fastball that averaged a velocity of 79-81 mph and reached as high as 83 mph.

Pitcher Tristan Allen (2016, Pinellas Park HS, FL) also provided a solid relief effort for Attatude Baseball. In his 4 innings of relief he struck out 6 opposing batters and only surrendered 1 earned run. Allen threw 69% of his pitches for strikes and was up to 81 mph with his fastball velocity.

Offensively, Derrek Jaar (2016, Pinellas Park HS, FL) was 2-3 for Attatude with a run scored and an RBI.

Palm Beach Shockers Maroon defeated the SWFL 15u Gray Team to advance in the playoffs behind the big bat of leadoff hitter, JJ Raymond (2017, Seminole Ridge Community HS, FL). Raymond went 3-3 with 1 triple and 3 RBI on the day.

Hunter Brennan (2017 Park Vista Community HS, FL) also had a fine day at the plate going 3-3 with 2 runs scored.

Shockers' starter, Dante Serino (2016, Jupiter Christian HS, FL) threw a 60-68/75 mph fastball in his 5 innings earning the win as he allowed 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. Serino also added a productive performance at the plate going 2-3 with 1 double and 2 RBI on the day.

For SWFL, Dewey Duvall (2017, Canterberry HS, FL) went 1-3 with knocking in all 3 runs for his team in the game.

SCBA Mizuno Takes 7-2 Victory

SCBA Mizuno was able to the bats going to the tune of 10 total team hits and took a 7-2 victory from Players Edge. SCBA Mizuno had four batters record multiple hits, all led by Richie Averill (Bradenton, FL, 2018) and his 2-4 effort with two RBIs and one run scored at the top of the lineup. Players Edge was able to get the bat on the ball with six hits led by Alex Guzman (Coconut Creek, FL, 2017) and his 2-3 day at the plate, but lost the error count 3-0 and were unable to recover.

Leo DeLaTorre (Sarasota, FL, 2016) takes home the win for SCBA Mizuno after a three-inning day on the mound. DeLaTorre allowed three hits and one earned run with no walks and two strikeouts before being relieved in the fourth.

Dylan Zaffuta (Boca Raton, FL, 2016) is credited with the loss after allowing seven hits and five runs, all earned, while walking none and striking out two during his three innings on the mound for Players Edge before being relieved in the fourth by Guzman.

Carson Ragsdale (2016, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, FL), Michael Matter (2016, Canterbury HS, FL), and Justin Hartshrone (2016, North Port HS, FL) all had a hit and 2 RBI's for the winners. Ragsdale ended the game 1-2 with a triple, a walk, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI. Hartshorne scored a run and had the other extra-base hit for SWFL with a double. Billy Zeliff (2016, Barron Collier HS, FL) finished the game 2-3 with an RBI for the winners.

John D'Alemio (2016, Barron Collier HS, FL) pitched 2 solid innings of relief in the victory and allowed 0 runs on 0 hits, while striking out 3 batters. D'Alemio averaged 79-83 mph on his fastball and reached a maximum velocity of 85 mph.

FTB Sarasota defeated the Palm Beach Shockers Blue 2-1 in the playoffs. Pinch hitter, Cooper Swanson (2016, Bishop Verot HS, FL) drew a walk in the bottom of the 7th which brought in the winning run and earned the rare walk-off walk.

Sarasota's offense was lead by Joaquin Estrada (2016, Olympia HS, FL) who went 3-3 with 1 triple in the game. Justin Fischer (2016, Out-Of-Door Academy HS, FL) also played well going 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.

Sarasota starter, Jordan Ely (2016, Manatee HS, FL), looked polished as he tossed 5 shutout innings allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk with 1 strike out. Ely used almost all fastballs which sat between 76-82/84 mph and featured arm-side life.

Shockers' starter, Kameron Ouelette (2016, Palm Beach Central HS, FL), took the tough luck loss going 6 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 4 hits while striking out 5. He showed a deceptive delivery on his 73-77 mph fastball

Clippers Fall to Tornados 8-4

The Florida Tornadoes 16U were able to withstand a furious four-run rally in the bottom of the third and took home the victory over the South Florida Clippers 8-4 in five innings. The Tornadoes were powered offensively by seven players registering a total of nine stolen bases, with Hunter Torre (Sunrise, FL, 2016) and Cameron Krzeminski (Coral Springs, FL, 2016) taking two each.

Austin Marks (Coral Springs, FL, 2016) takes home the win for the Tornadoes after two and a third inning effort, allowing two hits and four runs, two earned, while walking one and striking out one. Marks hit three batters before being relieved in the middle of the third inning.

Faldetta was joined by Timothy Smith (2016, Port Charolette HS, FL), who was 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Glenn Burton (2015, Labelle HS, FL) was also 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, and Trey Fields (2017, Lemon Bay HS, FL) contributed an RBI double for the winners.

Faldetta started on the mound for PBA and pitched all 5 innings to earn the victory.

Elite Squad 15u Slugger take 5-1 victory

Elite Squad 15U Slugger only were able to get three hits over the course of their seven-inning consolation game. Those three hits were all they needed to go along with six stolen bases to take a 5-1 victory from the SWFL Bombers Select. The Sluggers were forced to lean heavily on their defense and they answered with five double plays, led by Leonardo Torres (Broward, FL, 2017) who notched two doubles plays. They were led offensively by Anthony Leary (Davie, FL, 2017) who's 1-2 day at the plate with one run scored and one RBI led all batters for the game.

Michael Thompson (Cooper City, FL, 2017) takes home the win for the Sluggers after a four-inning day on the mound. Thompson allowed three hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out four before being relieved in the fifth. Thompson was able to find the strike zone on more than 65 percent of his pitches.

Christian Neyra (Naples, FL, 2016) is credited with the loss for the SWFL Bombers Select after a five-inning effort on the mound allowing two hits and three runs, all earned, while walking five and striking out five.

Scorpions 16u Prime defeated the Suncoast Select 16u 8-0 behind the complete game shutout tossed by Casey Coleman (2016, St. Cloud HS, FL). Coleman used good command of a 79-84/87 mph fastball that showed arm side as well as a 67-74 mph curveball that flashed potential.

For the Scorpions offense, Bryson Smith (2016, Barron Collier HS, FL) went 2-2 with 2 RBI showing a short, compact swing and good plate coverage. Carlos Cortes (2016, Lake Howell HS, FL) drove the ball well and showed a gap-to-gap approach going 2-2 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 1 RBI in the game. Spencer Taylor (2016, Trinity Christian Academy HS, FL) went 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI in his 3 trips to the plate.

For the Select, Jake Treloar (2016, Ridgewood HS, FL) went 1-2 with a stolen base to do his part for the offense.

Heaven Angels Start Fast, Win 9-3

The Florida Baseball Heaven Angels didn't waste any time building a lead in this game, scoring six of their nine runs in the first inning to take control and cruise to a 9-3 over the Tampa Threshers. The Angles were able to capitalize on five fielding errors, three in the first inning, to start quickly and blow this game out.

The Angels were led on offense coincidentally by their first two batters in their lineup AJ Driscom (Lutz, FL, 2017) and Seth Cannady (Sebring, FL, 2017). Driscom went 2-3 at the plate with three runs scored, and mixed with Cannady and his 2-3 effort at the plate made for a devastating one-two punch right at the top of the lineup.

Josh Crouch (Sebring, FL, 2017) is credited with the win for the Florida Baseball Heaven Angels for his two and two thirds inning day on the rubber. Crouch allowed two hits and three runs, one earned, while walking five and striking out three before being relieved in the third by Cody Vanlandinham. Vanlandinam (Wesley Chapel, FL, 2016) tossed two and a third innings of hitless ball while walking three and striking out two before being relieved in the sixth.

Late Surge Powers Florida Surge

Florida Surge scored five runs in the final three innings to take control, claiming a 6-2 victory over Palm Beach Shockers Blue.

Diaz and Rivera led the Surge with two runs batted in each. McKown also added two hits for the Surge.

Surge pitching allowed just two hits against the Shockers. Diaz, the starter, tossed three no-hit innings, although he did allow two runs. Juaquin Maese pitched the last three frames, allowing just two hits while striking out three. Diaz's fastball touched 89 mph, averaging 81-85 mph. Maese also showed a good heater, topping out at 85 mph. He sat at 73-83 mph.

Kyle Lamb (2016, Leonard HS, FL) led the Shockers with a hit and a run scored. Keaton Baird (2016, Seminole Ridge Community HS, FL) added a run batted in.

Starter Sean Bunnell (2016, Park Vista Community HS, FL) was solid on the mound, hurling three two-hit innings without allowing an earned run. His fastball reached 81 mph, sitting 76-80 mph.

The South Florida Eagles beat the Miami Suns 16U 5-2 on Sunday morning. Pauly Monduy (2016, Mater Academy Lakes HS, FL) and Nelson Williamson (2016, Mater Academy Lakes HS, FL) both hit doubles for the winners and finished 1-3 with a run scored. Evan Valverde (2016, G. Holmes Braddock HS, FL) and Joe Soto (2017, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL) collected a hit and an RBI each to pace the South Florida offense.

South Florida received quality pitching from three players on Sunday. Tyler Morales (2016, North Marion HS, FL) started the game and earned the win, pitching 3 innings and surrendering 2 earned runs on 2 hits. Morales struck out 2 and averaged 73-78 mph on his fastball that reached a maximum velocity of 79 mph. Osvaldo Fernandez (2016, G. Holmes Braddock HS, FL) relieved Morales in the 4th and pitched 3 solid innings allowing only 1 hit, while striking out 3. Chris Coleman (2016, Western HS, FL) earned the save for South Florida, working the final inning and striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. Fernandez and Coleman both reached 80 mph and 81 mph on their fastballs respectively.

The Miami Suns 16U were led at the plate by cleanup hitter Raymond Gil (2017, Gulliver Schools HS, FL), who was 2-2 with a run scored and a walk. Matthew Darder (2016, Monsignor Edward Pace HS, FL) collected the only RBI of the game going 1-3.

Pirates Top Baseline Columbia 6-2

The HBP Pirates broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning in a big way, scoring four runs to take control and win the game 6-2 over Baseline 16U Columbia. The Pirates had five batters record multiple-base hits and were able to take advantage of a late pitching switch to break the tie and take the victory.

HBP had eight players record a total of 10 hits over the course of the game, and were led offensively by Xavier Rivera (Kissimmee, FL, 2016). Rivera went 2-3 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs scored to lead all batters in the game. Lloyd Dominguez (Hialeah, Fl, 2017 ) put up a fight for Baseline with his 2-3 effort at the plate, but was unable to spark a needed seventh-inning rally for the win.

CJ Lugo (Lakeland, FL, 2015) takes home the win for the Pirates after a six inning game on the mound. Lugo allowed five hits and two unearned runs while walking one and striking out six batters before being relieved after the four run rally in the sixth.

Jhon Cruz (Miami, FL, 2016) did most of the pitching work for Baseline Columbia, tossing five innings and allowing five hits and two runs, one earned while walking one with no strikeouts. Cruz was relieved in the sixth inning by Alexi Ortiz (Miami, FL, 2016) who is credited with the loss after allowing five hits and four runs, all earned, while walking none and striking out two during his one inning of relief work.

SCORE International 16 U claims 3-0 win

A two run second inning gave SCORE International a lead they would not relinquish in a 3-0 victory over C. S. Clippers.

Two hits and two runs from Devon Connors (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) supplied much of SCORE's offense. Mason Turner (2016, Alonso HS, FL) and Cristian Navarro (2015, Dominican Republic) each added a run batted in.

Jared Jensen (2015, Hillsborough HS, FL) picked up the win on the mound, scattering two hits and six strikeouts over four innings. Andrew Mills (2017, Seminole HS, FL) and Andrew Belcik (2016, East Lake HS, FL) combined to throw a hitless final three innings. Jensen reached 79 mph with his fastball, and Mills peaked at 80 mph. Belcik displayed a good fastball, topping out at 88 mph, sitting 83-87 mph.

Dalton Williams (2014, Florida Air Academy, FL) pitched well for the Clippers, throwing five innings without allowing an earned run. Williams' fastball topped out at 77 mph.

GCBA win 4-3 with walk-off hit

GCBA won on Sunday over Florida Burn 2016 Gold with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 7th. Carson Smith (2018, Dunbar HS, FL) finished 2-2 with 2 RBI's and PJ Hardy (2016, St. Louis Catholic HS, LA) scored 2 runs for the winners. Alex Perez (2017, Cape Coral HS, FL) also had a multi-hit game, finishing 2-3 with the RBI single that won the game for GCBA.

Brennan Vasquez threw 6.1 innings of relief for GCBA to earn the victory. Vasquez's velocity averaged 74-79 mph and topped out at 80 mph. He was able to throw 77% of his pitches for strikes and struck out 3 batters.

Matt Monroe (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) and Tristan Burdette (2016, Braden River HS, FL) both finished 2-3 and scored a run for Florida Burn 2016 Gold. Monroe's double was the only extra-base hit of the game.

Top American Prospects shut out Fusion

Top American Prospects 16 U exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning on the way to an 8-0 victory over Fort Myers Fusion on Sunday.

Thomas Samler (2017, Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL) and Edward Klem (2016, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) led the Prospects with two runs batted in. Klem and Samler each had a double, while Drew Davis (2017, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) added a triple.

Michael Doll (2017, Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL) tossed 3.1 shutout innings in the victory for the Prospects, topping out at 75 mph with his fastball. Sadler threw the final 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and hitting 72 mph with his fastball.

Evan Wedlock (2016, Estero HS, FL) and Zach Neis (2016, Estero HS, FL) led the Fusion with two hits each.

The South Florida Storm Blue won 3-0 on Sunday morning over Florida Burn 2016 Navy behind 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention John Resnik's (2016, South Fork HS, FL) complete game one-hitter. Resnik allowed only 2 baserunners all game and struck out 5 in his 7 innings of work to earn the victory. His sound mechanics and outstanding arm speed were on display as he threw his fastball between 79-84 mph and reached as high as 88 mph.

Offensively, Jose Oliva (2015, Nova HS, FL) was a perfect 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 doubles. Lead-off hitter Gary Mattis (2016, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) was also 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

Mason Strickland (2016, Freedom HS, FL) was able to strikeout 5 South Florida hitters for Florida Burn 2016 Navy in his 3 innings of work. Team Bownet Tampa Bay Warriors 16U was victorious on Sunday morning over the Miami Astros 16U 1-0 behind strong pitching from Michael Huchro (2016, Sickles HS, FL) and Joey Pina (2016, Riverview HS, FL). Huchro started the game and worked 6 scoreless innings, allowing only 2 total hits. Pina worked the final inning and earned the win for the Warriors, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. The hard throwing righty averaged 80-83 on his fastball that reached a maximum velocity of 84, and threw 70% of his pitches for strikes.

Miami Astros 16U starter Ryan Acosta (2017, Southwest Miami HS, FL) was equally impressive, working 6 innings and allowed only 1 unearned run. Acosta struck out 8 Warrior batters and surrendered only 4 hits. He threw his fastball 70-75 and reached as high as 76 by the end of the game.

Spencer Keeler (2016, Chamberlain HS, FL) led the Warriors offensively going 1-2 with a double.

Naturals Earn First Win with Big Second Inning

The Naturals offense pounded out nine hits and received 2RBI games from Jack Lindsey and Kellen Breton as the latter finished the contest 2-for-3 and scored a run. Lindsey provided a two-run double as part of an eight-run second inning for the Naturals. The Naturals finished with an outstanding 19 quality at-bats throughout the game as they routed the South Florida Storm White 10-2.

Lindsey (2017, Gainesville, FL) started on the mound for the Naturals and earned the win tossing three innings of two-hit ball with one strikeout. The right-hander needed only 33 pitches throwing 24 for strikes as he commanded his low 70's fastball well that he pumped up to 76 mph when he needed more.

Breton (2017, Gainesville, FL) came on to pitch the last inning as he recorded a 1-2-3 inning striking out one as the ball never left the infield against him. Breton attacked with a low 70's fastball and went to a 60 mph curve ball to try and put hitters away when he was ahead in the count.

Stephen Richards (2017, Hollywood Hills, FL) came off the bench to give South Florida an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Twelve-Run Seventh turns W into Blowout for Terror

Leading 5-1 going into the seventh inning the Tampa Terror offense exploded for twelve more runs to turn a respectable game into a 17-1 lopsided win. The top three hitters in the Tampa lineup all scored three runs in the game while Christian James (2016, East Lake, FL) and Bradley Hession (2016, Steinbrenner, FL) each provided 3-for-5 games with 3RBI apiece.

Tampa received strong starting pitching from Colton Gordon Zimring (2016, Shorecrest Prepatory, FL) as he threw six innings allowing only one unearned to run to pick up the win. The left-hander showed good control walking only two and striking out 10. Zimring attacked hitters with a mid 70's fastball that topped out at 78 mph. His put away pitch was a low 60's curve that he had strong command of as the pitch showed good depth.

Five-Run Second Inning Propels Academia De Beisbol

After making two quick outs in the second inning, Academia De Beisbol's offense exploded for five runs highlighted by an RBI double by lead-off hitter Peter Plaz (2015, Pembroke Pines, FL) one of his two doubles in the game as he scored three runs in the contest. The two-out, second inning rally paved the way for a 9-2 victory over the South Miami Selects.

Carlos Centeno provided strong relief pitching to earn the win as he threw four innings allowing only one hit and striking out seven. Centeno needed 48 pitches to navigate his four innings of work throwing mostly fastballs between 72 and 76 mph. He flashed a decent change-up in the upper 60's that he used to keep hitters off of his fastball.

Academia clean-up hitter, Victor Garcia (2016, Pembroke Pines, FL) went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs in the game as the team's most productive hitter.

The Tampa Terror - East rolled to a 15-3 win over Xtreme Baseball Red 15U on Sunday morning. Five players had multi-hit games for the Terror - East contributing to the team's 15 total hits. Riley Degnan (2016, Palm Harbor University HS, FL) had a great day at the plate as he slugged 2 triples and knocked in 3 runs. Degnan finished the game 2-3 with 2 triples, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI. Adam Jurco (2016, Palm Harbor University HS, FL) contributed 3 hits including a double and 2 RBI for the winners. Jurco finished 3-4, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI. Alexander Hrica (2016, Palm Harbor University HS, FL) and John Pichman (2016, Palm Harbor University HS, FL) both had 2 RBI in the game. Pichman's RBI's came courtesy of a double.

Kyle Bailey (2016, Palm Harbor University HS, FL) closed out the game for the Terror - East and struck out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. Bailey threw 77% of his pitches for strikes and averaged 76-78 mph on his fastball.

North Florida Survives Shootout

In a game that saw 24 total runs, the North Florida Cohetes Underclass were able to hold on in five innings to defeat the Suncoast Select 16U, 15-9, on Sunday morning. Both teams finished with eight hits in the game but seven walks given up by Selects pitchers helped propel the Cohetes.

Elijah Rawlinson (2017, Creekside, FL) went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for North Florida who received offensive contributions up and down the lineup as six different Cohetes drove in runs.

Brett Cook (2016, Anclote, FL) was the only Suncoast hitter to record multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI double to center in the fifth. Cook also scored two runs in the game.

Nine-Run Second Lifts SWFL

Four different members of the SWFL team drove in two runs as the offense exploded for 12 runs after being shutout in their first two games of the tournament. Despite the offensive onslaught, SWFL had only two extra-base hits as Connor Berry (2018, Seminole, FL) and Dylan Bloss both added two-run doubles as part of the nine-run second inning.

Bloss (2017, North Fort Myers, FL) also relieved starter David Mata to pitch a scoreless fourth inning allowing one hit and striking out one.

Mata (2017, Cape Coral, FL) earned the win tossing three scoreless innings striking out four while giving up one hit and walking two. The right-hander showed life on his fastball that sat between 74 and 78 mph throughout his outing and he showed two good off-speed pitches in his curve and change-up. Both pitches registered in the low 70's but good arm speed on his change-up kept hitters off both pitches.

Scorpions Cortes' Stings Young Guns

Carlos Cortes went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Scorpions 2016 Prime to help defeat a resilient Trinity Young Guns team, 6-4.

Cortes (2016, Lake Howell, FL) paced the offense early with a two-run double in the first inning and added an RBI single in the fifth after the Young Guns had brought the score to within two the inning before. Scorpions lead-off hitter, Marc Coffers (2016, Barron Collier, FL) added an RBI single in the top of the second and scored two runs. The Mississippi commit finished the game 2-for-3.

The Scorpions received a strong start from Mark Potter (2016, Melbourne Central Catholic, FL) as he threw six innings giving up only one earned run (4R). The towering 6'5" right-hander allowed only two hits and walked one as he struck out four. Potter attacked hitters early with his fastball that he pumped up to 86 and sat 82-85 mph. The Melbourne native put hitters away with a devastating upper 60's curve.

St. Lucie Mets earn 9-1 victory

The St. Lucie Mets beat the Long Island Pirates 16U Sunday morning after only collecting 2 hits in the ball game. Christopher Montpetit (2016, Lincoln Park Academy, FL) had one of those hits that also produced a run. Montepetit finished the game 1-1 with an RBI, a stolen base, 2 walks, and 3 runs scored. St. Lucie's other hit came from pinch-hitter Sean Dakin (2015, Port St. Lucie HS, FL), who finished 1-1 with an RBI. Lead-off hitter Brandon Hall (2015, Treasure Coast HS, FL) sparked the Mets with 3 walks and a run scored, and Michael O'Brien (2016, Fort Pierce Central HS, FL) scored 2 more runs for the winners.

Alex Lopez (2015, Port St. Lucie HS, FL) and Matt Almeida (2016, Lincoln Park Academy, FL) combined to pitch all 5 innings of the game and hold the Pirates to 1 unearned run and 3 hits. Lopez started the game and threw 4 innings allowing only 2 hits, while striking out 3. He showed good command as he threw 62% of his pitches for strikes and his fastball topped out at 78 mph. Almeida worked the final innings of the game and struck out 2 using a strong fastball that averaged 76-80 and reached a maximum velocity of 82.

First basemen Enrique Morales (2016, Knox HS, NY) led the Long Island Pirates at the plate, finishing 1-2 with a double. Jesse Falik (2015, Francis Lewis HS, NY) scored the Pirates only run of the game and was 1-1 on the day with a walk.

Vandehey's Strong Start Leads Florida

Cody Vandehey threw four innings of one-hit, shutout baseball to lead the Florida Burn to a 3-1 win over Valley Forge on Sunday morning. Back-to-back RBI singles from Ian Evans (2017, Evangelical Christian, FL) and Brent Killam (2016, Venice Senior, FL) in the third inning proved to be all the offense the Burn would need.

Vandehey (2017, University, FL) gave up a double on an 0-2 pitch in the bottom of the first inning to Valley Forge's Anthony Gallicchio (2016, Palm Beach Central, FL) but would not allow another base runner over the course of his outing. The left-hander needed only 41 pitches to get through his four innings of work as he struck out three attacking hitters with a fastball that topped out at 76 mph and a put-away curve that averaged 60 mph.

Toral Blast Lifts Elite

Four Elite Squad pitchers combined to throw a 2-hit shutout on Sunday morning to lead to a 6-0 win over the North Florida Storm. The Elite Squad offense managed only three hits themselves but were able to take advantage of four North Florida errors.

Alejandro Toral (2017, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy, FL) hit a two-run homer to right field in the top of the first inning to give Elite a 3-0 lead which would be plenty for the Prime pitching. The left-handed hitting Toral blasted a 1-0 pitch with two outs in the inning as he showed a live bat and raw power to lift the ball and drive it to right field.

Evan McKendry (2016, University School of Nova South, FL) recorded the win in relief tossing three scoreless innings allowing only one hit, walking one and striking out two. The left-hander had an explosive fastball reading as high as 87 mph on the radar gun while he sat around 84-85 mph through most of his three innings. Throwing from a high three quarters arm angle, he was aggressive with his fastball showing it to be a plus pitch.

Johnny Leone (2017, St. Thomas Aquinas, FL) threw two strong innings of relief striking out three while giving up only one hit and walking one. The 5'10" right-hander also had a good fastball that sat 76-83 and topped out at 84 mph and he relied on his low 70's curve to put hitters away.

Surge break tie in 5th to win 6-3

The Florida Surge broke a 3-3 tie in the 5th inning on Sunday morning, scoring 3 runs in the inning to propel them to a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Threshers. Reynaldo Rivera (2015, IBAHS, PR) led Florida's offensive charge going 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Brian Nido (2015, Gulliver Schools, FL) also had a multi-hit game for the Surge, finishing 2-3 with a double. Chris Wallace collected the other double for Florida and also scored a run. Ariel Diaz (2015, Elev8 Sports Institute, FL) and Antonio Ralat (2015, Elev8 Sports Institute, FL) both had a hit and an RBI for the winners.

Nick Vespi was dominate on the mound for the Surge and struck out 7 batters over his 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. Vespi showed off his strong arm, throwing a fastball with a velocity of 81-85 that reached 86. He was able to throw 65% of his pitches for strikes and allowed 0 hits in the appearance.

Robby Martin (2018, Tampa, FL) started the game on the mound for the Threshers and pitched all 7 innings. Martin only surrendered 1 earned run and featured a fastball that hit a maximum velocity of 78.

At the plate, Ryan Romano (2017, HIllsborough HS, FL) and Sam Burnett (2016, Hillsborough HS, FL) collected the only RBI's of the game for Tampa. Romano also scored a run and walked. Tampa's only hits came from Robby Martin, who was 1-3, and Luis Estevez (2017, Jefferson HS, FL), who was 1-2.

Three Pokers Pitches Combine for Shutout

Jose Guillama, Noah Kaplan and Nicholas Carrasco combined to throw six shutout innings allowing only three hits and three walks while striking out five to lead the Florida Pokers Underclass Navy to a 5-0 win over MPi 16u Navy.

Kaplan (2016, J.P. Taravella, FL) came back to throw 3.1IP of shutout relief to earn the win after throwing 42 pitches in 2.1IP on Friday night. Out of Coral Springs, he allowed two hits and walked two while striking out two to keep MPi off the scoreboard. The 6'3" right-hander attacked hitters with a fastball that topped out at 74 mph sprinkling a few mid 60's curve balls to keep batters off balance.

Carrasco (2017, J.P. Taravella, FL) worked a 1-2-3 sixth inning to close the door on MPi striking out one and pumping an upper 70's fastball at hitters as he topped out at 79 mph.

Matt Mackey (2016, Manatee, FL) went 2-for-3 for the Pokers with an RBI double to right in the first inning and also came around to score a run after lining a single to left to lead off the sixth.

Four-Run First Sparks Burn

The Florida Burn Pennants jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning that paved the way for an 11-1 rout of Pokers Elite on Sunday morning. The Pennants knocked out 10 hits getting a 2-for-3 game with an RBI and two runs scored from Austin Bergner (2016, West Orange, FL) batting last in the order.

Infielder Scott Dubrule (2016, Venice Senior, FL) went 1-for-2 with a walk and scored twice while driving in two runs for Florida. Nick Ortega, (2016, Jesuit, FL) added a two-run double in the third inning building the lead to 7-0.

Florida starter Nick Long (2016, Sarasota, FL) threw four strong innings in earning the win allowing only one unearned run on four hits while walking one and striking out seven. Long showed solid mechanics on the mound and was quick to the plate with his fastball that sat 78-82 mph and topped out at 83 mph. His out pitch was his curve ball he threw often when he was ahead in the count as he showed good command of the pitch throwing it 70-73 mph.

Pennants reliever, Zak Wilson (2016, Eau Gallie, FL) came into the game throwing smoke striking out two in his one inning of relief topping out at 87 mph on the radar gun.

Garabitos No-Hit Relief Effort Leads Burn

After receiving two strong innings from starter Brant Brown (2018, Palmetto, FL), Florida Burn called on left-hander Pablo Garabitos in the third inning and the Bradenton native was untouchable the rest of the way. A game that saw only a combined six hits from both team went in favor of the Florida Burn as they dropped the South Florida Rampage 4-0 in an all around well pitched game.

Garabitos (2018, Lakewood Ranch, FL) stole the show after relieving Brown allowing only a walk with two outs in the seventh inning while striking out nine. Garabitos showed good the command with all of his pitches as set up hitters well changing speeds with a good curve that showed solid depth in the low 60's that kept hitters off his low 70's fastball that topped out at 75 mph.

Maglio Sets Tone for PBA

Lead-off hitter Cameron Maglio went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the fourth and scored later in the inning to help pace the PBA Royals in a 10-5 win over Team Tampa Bay. The Royals recorded 12 hits as four players had multi-hit games.

Maglio (2016, Mariner, FL) led off the game with a line drive single to center and immediately stole second base. Next batter, Clayton Glover (2017, North Fort Myers, FL) looked to give PBA and early advantage when he singled to center but Maglio was thrown out on a close play at the plate. Maglio would score later in the game on an RBI ground out in the fourth inning by Michael Laezza (2016, Ida Baker, FL)

Matisse Bober (2017, Riverdale, FL) went 2-for-2 in the game and drove in two runs for the Royals.

Upstate Needs only 5 Hits to Score 14 Runs

The Upstate Mavericks made the most of their five hits, aided by eight walks, four hit batters and three defensive errors by Team Prospect Int'l, to cruise to a 14-0 win in four innings Sunday morning. Douglas Angeli Jr. (2017, Dorman, SC) set the tone for the game early as he delivered a grand slam to left giving the Mavericks an early 5-0 lead. Angeli Jr. showed his raw power and excellent bat speed hammering the 1-0 pitch over the wall in left. The 5'11" infielder also lined a double to left in the second.

Joe Satterfield (2016, J L Mann, SC) scored three runs reaching base in all three of his plate appearances collecting two walks and an infield single. Clayton Coulter (2017, Southside Christian Schools, SC) drove in two runs and scored two runs without recording a hit or a walk as he had two ground outs and reached on an error.

Noah Linhart and Chase Ellis combined to throw four shutout innings each striking out two batters. Linhart (2015, Hendersonville, NC) started and did not allow a hit, walking one and earning the win. One of two North Carolina natives on the roster, Linhart attacked hitters with a mid 70's fastball and flashed a mid 60's curve to keep hitters off balance.

Ellis (2016, Blythewood, SC) came in, in relief in the third inning with the score already 11-0 as he would allow only two singles the rest of the way. Ellis' repertoire included a curve and slider to go along with his mid 70's fastball that he cranked up as high as 81 mph.

Slugfest Ends in 4-3 Win for Hit Factory

The Hit Factory 16U Blue defeated Florida Pokers Underclass Carolina 4-3 in seven innings.

The Hit Factory picked up the four runs in the first, and they held on to the win.

Mitchell Carter (2017, Tampa, FL) and Cristian Docobo (2017, Tampa, FL) both roped two hits each in the game. Docobo had a double and a single. John Mendohlson (2016, Valrico, FL) added on going 1-3 with a RBI and a run of his own.

The Hit Factory also showed quick speed on the base paths by running on the pitchers with five stolen bases.

They showed three different pitchers in the game. Zach Bacon (2015, Redington Shores, FL) got the win by going the first two innings and giving up one hit and striking out two.

For the Pokers, Leland Reames (2017, Navaree, FL) got pinned with the loss by going two innings and giving up three earned runs. He did strike out four batters and gave up six hits. He showed good command on his pitches with his quick arm and fast approach. Hogan Green (2017, Coral Springs, FL) went the last four innings only giving up four hits and striking out two.

Offensviely, Michael Moreno (2017, Miramar, FL) went a perfect 2-2 with a RBI. Brian McMann (2017, Gainesville, FL) went one for three and a RBI.

SWFL 8-Run Fourth Fuels Easy Win

After trailing 1-0 through the first two innings, the SWFL offense came to life in third scoring five runs and adding eight more in the fourth to cruise to a mercy shortened four inning win, 13-1 over the MPi Grey team. Every SWFL starter recorded at least one hit as the team pounded out 12 hits and added five walks as they had at least one batter reach base in every inning.

Dillon Morton (2017, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, FL) came up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning with the score tied at one. He quickly proceeded to clear the bases with a line drive double to center to build a 4-1 lead for SWFL. Morton would come to the plate with the bases loaded again in the fourth inning and was walked on five pitches giving Morton his fourth RBI of the game.

Michael Green (2017, Bishop Verot, FL) started and threw all four innings for SWFL earning the win allowing only three base runners (2H, 1BB) and struck out six giving up his only run on a first inning single to left by MPi's Michael Arencibia (2016, Westminster Christian, FL). Green attacked hitters with his fastball all game throwing 72 percent of his pitches for strikes and sprinkling in only a handful of off-speed offerings. His fastball sat 73-76 mph throughout his outing as he topped out at 77 mph.

Errors Haunt Baseline, Lose to Orlando 12-4

The Orlando Baseball Academy 2016 defeated Baseline 16U White 12-4 in five innings.

Both clubs combined for seven errors, but the errors helped the Orlando Baseball Academy 2016 with three big scoring innings.

For Orlando Baseball Academy 2016, Cameron Recny (2017, Clermont, FL) went 1-2 with two RBIs and three runs. He shows a crouched stance with a toe tap trigger. Nate Rotenberger (2016, Maitland, FL) went one for three with two RBIs. He showed he could stay inside the ball with his large frame. Austin Graves (2016, Apopka, FL) went 1-2 with a double, a RBI, and a run.

Bradley Donelick (2017, Clermont, FL) picked up the win and in the five innings pitched. He gave up four runs with three being earned. He also surrendered five hits and was able to strike out three. Donelick showed he could throw strikes with sound mechanics.

For Baseline, Gabriel Blanco (2016, Miami, FL) went 1-2 with a run. He displayed his gap power and live bat. Anthony Antigue (2016, North Miami, FL) matched going 1-2 with a run of his own. Mathew Rodriguez (2016, Miami, FL) went a perfect 1-1 with a double, RBI, and a run. Offensively, they were neck and neck with Orlando, but just couldn't defensively hold them to a close game.

5-Run First Powers Florida Angels

The Florida Baseball Heaven Angels White squad took advantage of three walks and two errors in the first inning to build an early 5-0 lead that they would never look back from earning the win, 10-1 in five innings. Eight Angels batters recorded at least one hit as they cruised to an easy Sunday win.

Josh Crouch (2017, Sebring, FL) was the only player to record two hits in the game finishing 2-for-3 with RBI singles in the first and fourth innings. Crouch also helped create another run in the first inning after reaching on his RBI single by stealing second and advancing to third on an errant throw by the catcher. He would score later in the at-bat as Tyler Brown (2017, Bartow Senior, FL) lined a two-run single to right.

The Angels received a strong outing from starter Chelsea Baker (2016, Durant, FL) as the right-hander went the complete five innings in earning the win. The Plant City native allowed only one unearned run on two hits, walking two and striking out six. Baker worked fast on the mound throwing strikes with his fastball and keep hitters off pace with a good knuckle ball and an average curve.

Eight Runs in Second Gives Burn Big Victory

The Florida Burn 2017 Pennant defeated the South Florida Prospects 16U in four innings by a final score of 11-1.

John Chiaramonte (2016, Clearwater, FL) got the nod for the Burn. He went the first two innings only giving up a run and a hit. Chiaramonte topped out at 81 ph and ranged from 74 to 78 mph. Cyrus Stewart (2017, Riverview, FL) went the last two without surrendering a hit or run. He struck out five and did not walk any. Stewart showed his large projectable frame. He was able to throw strikes with his life on on his fastball. He works his arm action well where he could throw as hard as 83 mph but averaged from 78 to 81 mph.

The Florida Burn 17U Pennant collected seven hits and had 11 runs cross the board. Rylee Buckmaster (2016, Venice, FL) and Brday McConnell (2017, Lake Worth, FL) let the surge for them. They each collected two hits, two RBIs, and one run each. McConnell drew a walk as well to show he could be a scrappy baseball player. Buckmaster showed he could stay inside the ball with his balanced swing and strong wrists. Lyon Richardson (2018, Jensen Beach, FL) and Chiaramonte each cracked a single with a RBI and a run.

For the South Florida Prospects, Logan Langham (2016, Naples, FL) was the only batter to wrangle a hit.

Makowski, Mattis Lift Storm Blue over Tampa

Pitching a shutout of Xtreme Baseball Red 15U by a 3-0 score earlier in the day, South Florida Storm Blue continued its momentum against Tampa Terror - East Saturday evening, coming out on the winning end of a 9-6 game at Dunbar High School field.

The top of South Florida's lineup provided a large chunk of the offensive firepower in the bout, as lead-off hitter Gary Mattis (2016, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) went 1-3 with a two-bagger and run scored while No. 2 hitter Joshua Miaskowski (2016, Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, FL) scored a game-high three runs, went 1-3 at the plate and drew a walk in the contest.

Coral Springs, Fla., native Ryan Mash (2015, Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, FL) came on in relief for South Florida and got the winning decision, tossing 4.1 innings in which he struck out four batters (three swinging), walked and allowed one hit while producing a 76.9% strike rate. Mash's produced six ground outs and three fly outs in the game, and his fastball sat between 77-79 MPH with a maximum velocity of 80 MPH.

Shinsky's Solid Outing Paves Way for Valley Win

Valley Forge out-hit MPi 16U Navy by a convincing 9-2 margin Saturday afternoon and committed just two errors compared to their counterpart's six, and came away with the 6-2 victory on day two of the 2014 16U East Memorial Day Classic tournament at Cape Coral Sports Complex Field 4.

Zack Shinsky (2016, Deltona HS, FL) got the start for Valley Forge and took advantage of his team's early lead, striking out seven batters over five complete innings of one-hit ball and one earned run allowed. Shinsky showed good command of his fastball (74-75 MPH, 76 MPH max velo) and 11/5 breaking curveball (65-68 MPH) thanks in large part to his smooth delivery and overtop arm angle in the outing.

While MPi 16U Navy went a combined 2-24 from the dish in the game, Valley Forge received production from Angel Amadeo (2016, West Broward HS, FL), Dominic Lemongello (2016, Palm Beach Central HS, FL) and Jordan Almodobar (2016, Deltona HS, FL) in the form of a double and RBI from each. Switch-hitter Alexis DeJesus (2016, Deltona HS, FL) went 1-3 with a run scored and game-high three stolen bases for Valley Forge, as well.

Big Fourth Inning Lifts Pokers to Win

A five-run fourth inning coupled with a strong outing from starting pitcher Sam Howard (2017, F. W. Buchholz HS, FL) helped propel Pokers Elite to a 9-5 victory over Naturals 15U Saturday afternoon at Cape Coral Sports Complex Field 3. The win improved the Pokers tournament record to 2-0-0 and dropped Naturals 15U's record to 0-2-0 after two full days at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic tournament.

Howard, a 6-foot-0, 165-pound southpaw from Gainesville, Fla., produced 16 of 23 possible first-pitch strikes against Naturals 15U hitters and posted an impressive 75% overall strike rate for the game (76 total pitches thrown). His large, projectable frame helped him stay around the plate with all of his offerings, and he showed an ability to mix speeds (72-75 MPH fastball, 61-63 MPH curveball) effectively.

Kyler Marquis (2017, Gainesville HS, FL) was lethal on the basepaths for Naturals 15U, nabbing a game-high five stolen bases and scoring three runs in his team's losing effort. At the plate, Marquis went 1-3 and drew a walk in three total plate appearances.

Early Firepower Gives Cushion for Miami W

Igniting for six runs in the first two innings off Team Tampa Bay 16U pitching, Miami Suns 16U got the cushion necessary for its own hurlers to hold Tampa Bay to just one run over seven complete innings, eventually leading to a 7-1 Miami victory Saturday afternoon at Cape Coral Complex Field 2.

Robert Touron (2017, Gulliver Schools HS, FL) provided one of the main sparks offensively for Miami in the contest, lacing a fly ball down the right field line for an RBI double while drawing one walk over three plate appearances in the contest. Andres Sanchez (2017, Miami Killiam Senior HS, FL) pieced together an impressive day at the dish, as well, going 1-3 with a walk, RBI and run scored. Sanchez showcased good bat speed in the contest and employed a sound, confident hitting approach.

Brian Seybold (2016, Freedom HS, FL) recorded Team Tampa Bay 16U's only two hits of the game, going 2-3 with an RBI. Miami University commit Aaron Cohn (2016, Warton HS, FL) had arguably the best day on the bump for Tampa, logging three complete innings of relief in which he did not concede an earned run to cross home. The 5-foot-10 right-handed pitcher's fastball clocked in at 73-75 MPH (77 MPH max velo), and helped him record four ground ball outs compared to two fly ball outs.

Florida Baseball Gets Second Straight W, 9-4

Capturing their first victory of the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic tournament Saturday morning 6-1 over Fort Myers Fusion, Florida Baseball Heaven Angels Gold continued its momentum in day two of the tourney with a 9-4 victory over Top American Prospects 16U. The win improved Florida's record to 2-1-0 in tournament play and dropped Fort Myers to 0-2-0.

Austin Gaines (2015, Newsome HS, FL) helped lead the way offensively for Florida, going 1-3 (2B) with a game-high 3 RBI to go with a run scored. Matthew Moclair (2016, Strawberry Crest HS, FL) chipped in with 2 RBI and a run scored thanks to a 1-3 performance at the plate. Starting pitcher Andrew Fritsch logged all five innings for Florida, working fast and showing curveball potential en route to four strikeouts and four walks.

For Top American Prospects 16U, Michael Perugini (2017, Coral Springs Charter HS, FL) went 2-2 (2B, 1B) with 2 RBI at the plate, showing an aggressive approach with consistent line drive contact to his swing. The Miami Wolverines 16U tied SBO Florida 16U 3-3 on Saturday. Daniel Silva (2016, Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) and Eric Wilson (2017, Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) each had 2 hits on the day for the Wolverines. Ben Pelletier (2016, Homeschool, CAN) provided the clutch hit for SCORE, hitting a double that scored 3 runs. Pelletier finished 1-3 with 3 RBI in the game. Steven Lugo (2016, Jesuit HS, FL) wrecked havoc on the basepaths after walking 3 times as he scored 2 runs and stole 2 bases.

North Florida's offense was paced by lead-off hitter Todd Lott (2016, First Coast HS, FL), who went 2-3 with a triple, a walk, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI's. The South Florida Clippers committed seven errors that helped 19 Florida Burn base runners reach base. The Burn combined 10 hits and two walks with South Florida's poor defense to have at least one base runner in every inning.

Paul Coumoulos (2017, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, FL) and Justin Hanley (2018, Venice Senior, FL) both recorded multiple hit games for the Burn and Parker Shanahan (2017, St. Stephens Episcopal, FL) had two of the teams three RBI.

Caleb Williams (2017, Venice Senior, FL) started and earned the win for Florida tossing five innings and allowing two runs (1ER) on six hits and registering four strikeouts. Elite Squad 15U Slugger won on Saturday over Suncoast Select 16U Blue 8-2 behind solid pitching from Arrison Perez (2017, West Broward HS, FL) and Brenden Tuttle (2017, Chaminade Madonna College Prep, FL). Perez started the game on the mound and pitched 3 scoreless innings, surrendering only 1 hit to the opposition. Perez reached as high as 78 with his fastball and struck out 4 batters during his outing. Tuttle covered the final 4 innings and struck out 5 using a fastball that averaged 78-81 and peaked at 85.

Offensively Anthony Leary (2017, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy HS, FL) provided the big hit for Slugger going 1-2 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Catcher Julian Barcelo (2017, Pembroke Pines Charter, FL) finished the game with 2 hits in 2 at-bats and Jonathan Miller (2017, Cooper City HS, FL) scored twice. The Tampa Terror offense scored nine runs over the last two innings to cruise to an 11-2 victory in six innings over the SWFL Bombers Select. Tampa had eight players record a hit in the contest including three players collecting multiple hits. The 11 runs came after the Terror offense was held to only two runs on Friday night and was more than enough for Tampa starter Connor Churchill who threw five shutout innings.

Churchill (2017, East Lake, FL) allowed only three hits and struck out two in earning the win needing only 52 pitches over the course of his five innings of work. The 6' 2" right-hander showed good arm-side run on his upper 70's fastball that topped out at 80 mph and was mixed with a mid 60's curve to keep hitters off balance all game.

Christian James (2016, East Lake, FL) went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs including an RBI double on a line drive to center as part of Tampa's six-run sixth inning. James also scored two runs in the contest.

Montanez CG Shutout Lifts Premier

Alexander Montanez (2017, Lake Nona, FL) needed just 91 pitches to finish a complete game shutout against the South Florida Rampage. The 5'11" right-hander scattered five hits while walking two and striking out six versus the Rampage hitters. In his start, Montanez threw fastball on 80 of his 91 pitches ranging from 71-76 mph and touching as high as 78. His main secondary pitch was a mid 60's curve and he flashed a straight change at 67 mph.

Amaldo Ruiz (2017, Timber Creek, FL) and Hunter Grimes (2016, East River, FL) paced the Premier offense with two hits apiece and each player scored a run in the win.

Sebastian Criollo (2020, Ronald W. Reagan/Doral Senior, FL) was the only player to record multiple hits for South Florida going 2-for-3 in the game.

The Upstate Mavericks 16U erased a 4 run deficit to defeat SCBA Mizuno on Saturday behind Clayton Coulter's (2017, Southside Christian Schools, SC) perfect day at the plate. Coulter slugged a home run and a double on the day going a perfect 3-3 with a run scored and 4 RBI's. Richard Gregory (2016, Gaffney HS, SC) was also a perfect 2-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

The Mavericks received solid pitching from Alexander Grier (2016, J L Mann, SC) and Jacob Oaks (2016, Southside Christian Schools, SC), who covered the final 5.2 innings of the game allowing 0 runs and only 2 hits. Oaks struck out 2 batters and showed off his strong arm in the game, throwing a fastball that averaged between 82-85 and reached a maximum velocity of 86.

SCBA Mizuno was led by Davis Gurr (2017, Sarasota HS, FL) who finished the game 1-2 with 2 RBI, a walk and 1 run scored. Brooks Larson (2017, Sarasota HS, FL) was also 1-2 with an RBI.

A four-run second inning powered Suncoast Select 16U Royal to a 7-3 victory in six innings over Dawg Pound 16U Saturday at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

Tommy Edwards (2016, Wesley Chapel HS, FL) produced three runs for Suncoast Select, driving in two and scoring another. Matt Iovine (2016, Wiregrass Ranch HS, FL) and Darius Blasingane (2016, Boca Ciega HS, FL) added an RBI, with JJ Powers (2016, Bishop McLaughlin HS, FL) and Iovine supplying two runs each. Iovine also added a double, the game's only extra-base hit, while Powers stole two bases.

Suncoast Select's Larry Holly (2016, Hollins HS, FL) hurled a complete game, striking out 13 Dawg Pound hitters. Holly allowed two earned runs on three hits in the win. Holly displayed sound mechanics in his 111-pitch outing, in which he peaked at 79 mph, sitting at 73-78 mph.

Dawg Pound's three hits came from Devin Lopez (2016, Florida Virtual School), Darryl Mitchell (2017, Chamberlain HS, FL), and Edgar Nunez (2016, Brooks DeBartolo HS, FL), who also scored a run and stole two bases. Leo Wagner drove in a run, the only player to do so. Jay Rodriguez (2017, Mitchell HS, FL) added a run scored and a stolen base.

Every GCBA hitter reached base in a 10-2 victory in six innings over Players Edge 16U on Saturday at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

GCBA struck late, scoring eight of its ten runs in the final three innings of the contest. PJ Hardy (2016, St. Louis Catholic HS, LA) and Alex Perez (2017, Cape Coral HS, FL) led the way for GCBA, each driving in two runs. Alier Martinez (2016, Lehigh HS, FL), Ryan Palermo (2016, St. Louis Catholic HS, LA), and Parker Pillsbury (2018, Seven Rivers Christian HS, FL) all added two hits each, with Palermo and Pillsbury recording a double. Alejandro Olivert (2016, Lehigh HS, FL) and Peyton Doumite (2017, St. Louis Catholic HS, LA), and Hardy each had a double.

Tyler Pillsbury (2015, Seven Rivers Christian HS, FL) earned the win for GCBA, throwing five innings with six strikeouts. Pillsbury allowed four hits and two unearned runs. Pillsbury shut down Players Edge with control, using a fastball that topped out at 69 mph. Doumite closed the game, tossing a scoreless, hitless sixth. Doumite used three pitches, including a fastball that topped out at 73 mph.

Florida Surge win 6-2 thanks to late-game surge

With 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, the Florida Surge are winners in their first game of the tournament with a 6-2 victory over Elite Squad 16U Slugger. That 6th inning outburst came thanks to 6 singles in a 7 batter stretch.
Elite Squad threw out Jonathan Fernandez (Slam Charter HS, Doral, FL, 2016) to start the game, and he came through with five innings in which he only allowed one run to cross. The Florida Surge took a different approach, throwing 4 different pitchers, all who threw 2 innings or fewer. Jorge Alfonso, James Butera, and Mike Rosenbusch each allowed zero hits and zero runs to cross in their appearances. Chris Wallace, the only pitcher to even allow a hit for the Surge, struck out 3 in his two innings while hitting 79 MPH on the radar gun. Rosenbusch displayed especially promising stuff, registering 86 MPH with the fastball and mixing in a few 74 MPH curveballs.
Anthony Mulrine (St Thomas Aquinas HS, Davie, FL, 2016) was a bright spot for the Elite Squad offense, going 1-3 with an RBI. For the Surge, Ariel Diaz had a field day going 3-3 with a double, stolen base, RBI, and two runs scored. Alex Vasquez also collected multiple hits, going 2-2 with a run scored.

Florida Burn 2017 Pennant Roll to 9-2 Win

Florida Burn 2017 Pennant allowed just two hits, and churned out nine runs in a 9-2 six-inning victory over Busty Bulls Saturday at the Charlotte County Sports Complex.

The Burn’s nine runs were scored entirely in the second and third innings. The Burn used a group effort at the plate, as eight different hitters hit safely, and all eleven reached base at least once. Leading the run production were Douglas Nikhazy (2018, West Orange HS, FL) and Nate Cox (2018, Buchholz HS, FL), who each drove in two runs. Lyon Richardson (2018, Jensen Beach HS, FL) and Rylee Buckmaster (2016, Venice HS, FL) recorded two hits each, with both of Buckmaster’s hits coming as doubles. Charles Welch (2018, Northside Christian HS, FL) added two runs scored, as did Cox.

Nate Gillen (2017, Estero HS, FL) was fantastic on the mound for the Burn, striking out seven of the ten hitters he faced over three innings. Gillen allowed one hit, and showed good command. He topped out at 81 mph on his fastball, averaging 75-81 mph. Cox also pitched well, retiring four of his five opponents, including two strikeouts. Cox’s fastball reached 82 mph, sitting between 76-82 mph. Despite running into some trouble in his 1.1 innings, Richardson displayed a good fastball, reaching 84 mph on the radar gun. His fastball sat between 78-84 mph.

Frankie Guelli (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) recorded the only RBI for the Busty Bulls, while Alejandro Borjas (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) and Jonathan Prokos (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) supplied the team’s two hits.

Despite a rough outing, Bulls reliever Sawyer Losey (2017, Wellington HS, FL) showed a good fastball, topping out at 80 mph. His fastball averaged 73-80 mph over his 1.2 innings on the mound.

Florida Burn 2016 Gold Rallies in Seventh

Florida Burn 2016 Gold stunned Giants Baseball with three seventh inning runs to take a 6-5 decision Saturday at the Charlotte County Sports Complex.

The Burn trailed 5-3 entering the seventh, and loaded the bases with one out in the frame. Matt Monroe (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) singled to right field to tie the game, scoring Brendan Gramalia (2016, St. Petersburg HS, FL) and Najee Rhodes (2018, Out-Of-Door Academy, FL). The eventual game-winning came home on an RBI single by Jerry Biller III (2016, Brandon HS, FL), but an insurance run was cut down trying to score on the single.

Another run would not be necessary, as Clay Looney (2016, St. Petersburg Catholic HS, FL) retired the Giants in order to preserve the one-run victory. Looney’s fastball over his two innings of work reached 75 mph.

Rhodes and Monroe led the Burn with two hits each, and Alexander Morales (2016, Tampa Jesuit HS, FL) recorded two runs batted in. Jarred Rondeau (2016, Newsome HS, FL) added a double, and Trevor Losada (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) drilled a triple.

Dylan Stevens (2016, University HS, FL) had a solid outing for Florida, allowing three hits and no earned runs over four innings of work, striking out five. Stevens displayed a good curveball to go with his fastball, which topped out at 77 mph.

David Nicholas (2015, Charlotte Amalie HS, VI) led the Giants with two hits and an RBI. Nicholas also scored one of the team’s five runs. Nicholas also pitched a complete game on the hill, striking out 10 Burn hitters. He walked only one hitter and surrendered just three earned runs. Nicholas showed the ability to attack hitters, displaying a fastball that peaked at 80 mph, sitting between 76-80 mph.

Tampa Threshers use timely hitting to win 5-3

By taking advantage of timely hitting, the Tampa Threshers were able to hold off the Palm Beach Shockers Blue late rally to claim the victory.
Garrett Sheppard (Jesuit HS, Tampa, FL, 2017) started and recorded the W for the Threshers, pitching 6+ innings, not allowing a single run until the 7th inning. His fastball topped out at 79 MPH and showed a very good out-pitch with his change-up which registered around 65-68 MPH. Sheppard ended up recording 7 strikeouts. Bryce Blanco (Hillsborough HS, Tampa, FL, 2017) came in to calm the late rally, and retired the next three batters to end the game.
Kyle Lamb (John I. Leonard HS, West Palm Beach, FL, 2016) pulled out the best game for the Shockers at the plate, going 2-2 with both hits being doubles, as well as stealing a base. For the Threshers, Aaron Bonnano (Hillsborough HS, Lutz, FL, 2016) came through with a big two-run double, and scored a run. Alejandro Coronado (Hillsborough HS, Tampa, FL, 2016) also had a nice game, collecting two singles and a run scored.

Jordan Butler (2017, Tampa Catholic), the Xtreme Baseball starter, pitched a gem going 6 innings, and allowing just 1 earned run, while strike out an impressive 9 Elite Squad batters. Butler was matched by his counterpart Nick McDonald (2016, West Broward) who pitched 3 innings and gave up no hits and no runs.

Jack Khawly (2016, Somerset Academy Charter) picked up a hit and an RBI for Elite Squad.

Shane Shifflett (2017, Lemon Bay) a hit, a run, and an RBI for Xtreme Baseball.

South Florida Prospects Rally for 4-3 Win

A big sixth inning powered South Florida Prospects 16U to a 4-3 victory over JMBC Sentinels Saturday at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

South Florida scored all four of their runs in the top of the sixth inning. Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Prospects tied the game on an two-run double by Logan Langham (2016, Barron Collier HS, FL). After a single from Thomas Orr (2016, Coral Springs Christian Academy, FL), Christian Scott (2018, Calvary Christian Academy, FL) drilled a single to left field to take the lead. Cameron Andres (2016, Pine Crest HS, FL) followed that up with a single through the right side for another run, to account for a 4-2 advantage.

The Sentinels would threaten in the seventh, bringing a run across via error. The Sentinels had the winning run at the plate and the tying run on third when Zac Clark (2016, Cardinal Gibbons HS, FL) struck out the final hitter to attain victory.

Scott added two hits including a double, the only Prospect with a multi-hit game. Justin Hue (2017, Calvary Christian Academy, FL) and Langham each added a double to the cause.

Scott also had a solid outing on the mound, allowing just one earned run on five hits over five innings. Scott displayed a projectable frame with an overtop arm angle, and a fastball that topped out at 80 mph, sitting at 74-78 mph. Clark, who picked up the win, struck out three hitters over two innings, allowing one unearned run. Clark’s fastball peaked at 76 mph.

Eric Correa (2015, Springstead HS, FL) and Sam Davidson (2015, Alonso HS, FL) had two hits each for the Sentinels, and Correa drove in a run.

Richard “Bryce” Conn (2016, River Ridge HS, FL) allowed four unearned runs over 5.1 innings in a tough-luck loss, striking out three hitters. Conn, who threw from a high 3/4 arm angle, threw a fastball that reached 80 mph, averaging a speed of 72-78 mph. Jordan Nutting (2017, Ridgewood HS, FL) threw 1.2 scoreless innings for the Sentinels, primarily using a fastball that peaked at 77 mph.

SWFL 16U Grey jump to 9-0 victory

Showing off both their offense and pitching, SWFL 16U Grey cruised to a 9-0 victory over Baseline 16U Navy.
The starting pitcher for SWFL, Zac Uecker (North Port HS, North Port, FL, 2016), threw a masterful and creative 3 innings in which he allowed no runs and struck out 7. His combination of deadly off-speed pitches kept batters on their heals every second. When Uecker departed, the power arms began to come out. Carson Ragsdale (Bishop McLaughlin Catholic HS, Wesley Chapel, FL, 2016) came in throwing a mid-80's fastball that topped out at 85 MPH. After Ragsdale was Jordan Spicer (St Thomas Aquinas HS, Hialeah, FL, 2015), who hit 90 MPH multiple times in his scoreless inning of work. For Baseline, Willie Sanchez (South Dade Senior HS, Homestead, FL, 2016) was the standout pitcher, throwing a healthy mix of fastballs (up to 76 MPH) and curveballs (up to 63 MPH), while allowing one unearned run in two innings.
At the plate, Marcos Aguire (South Dade Senior HS, Miami, FL, 2016) collected the only hit for Baseline in the 4th inning. Alex Mangome (IMG Academy, Bradenton, FL, 2015) collected two hits and two RBIs while scoring a run for SWFL. Also having a good day for SWFL was Michael Matter (Canterbury HS, Fort Myers, FL, 2016) who collected a double and two RBIs on the day.

Florida Baseball Heaven Angels White used a great pitching performance from their starter to beat the South Miami Select 4-1. Jacob Ralyea (2015, Strawberry Crest) was impressive going the distance for Florida Baseball. Ralyea allowed no earned runs and struck out 9 South Miami hitters.

AJ Drisdom (2017, Gaither) and Josh Crouch (2017, Sebring) keyed the offensive attack for Florida Baseball each having two hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored.

Brandon Sanchez (2017, South Miami Senior) provided the offense for South Miami going 2-2 and reaching base in all 3 plate appearances.

Academia Holds on Behind Stellar Pitching

Academia De Beisbol Carlos Guillen Oriente held off a late charge from MPi 15U to claim a 4-3 victory Saturday at City of Palms Park.

MPi scored two runs in the seventh, and had brought the go-ahead run to the plate before Luis Diaz (2016, Pembroke Pines, FL) induced a pop up to the second baseman to end the game.

Albert Guaimaro (2016, Florida HS for Accel. Learners South) had a stellar game for Academia, going 3-for-3 with two runs batted in. Peter Plaz (2015, Pembroke Pines, FL) also added two hits, while Eduard Lemus (2015, Pembroke Pines, FL) scored twice.

Academia pitching was spectacular in the game’s first four innings, as pitchers Andriu Marin (2016, Homeschool, FL) and Moises Padilla (2015, Pembroke Pines, FL) combined to strike out eleven hitters — six from Marin, five from Padilla — without allowing a base hit. Marin, one of the top-20 righties in the 2016 class in Florida, displayed good command and sound mechanics on the mound, throwing a fastball that topped out at 87 mph. His fastball averaged 82-87 mph. Padilla showed good command and aggressiveness on his fastball, which topped out at 86 mph, sitting between 81-86 mph. Diaz tossed the final three innings, and worked out of trouble in the seventh to hold on. Diaz’s fastball topped out at 77 mph.

Alex Ruiz (2017, Westminster Christian School, FL) led MPi with two hits and a run batted in. Danny Perez (2018, Westminster Christian School, FL) also added a hit and a run scored, while Juan Vigeras (2017, Miami Southridge HS, FL) supplied the team’s other hit.

Trent Valentine (2017, John Jay East Fishkill) was equally impressive for the 15U Prime pitching 5 innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out 4.

In their first game of this tournament, the South Florida Storm Blue took down Xtreme Baseball Red 15U thanks to an excellent pitching performance.
Rene Auraz (South Miami Senior HS, Miami Gardens, FL, 2016), the starting pitcher for the Storm, threw a complete game in only 67 pitches, allowing only 3 hits, a walk, and striking out 4. His fastball registered in the high 70s all day, peaking at 80 MPH.
For Xtreme Baseball Red 15U, Joseph Mugavero (Estero HS, Cape Coral, FL, 2017) had a quality day, going 1-2 and displaying a good process at the plate.
The offense for the Storm was very spread out among its players, with everyone contributing. Leadoff man Gary Mathis (St Thomas Aquinas HS, Davie, FL, 2016) had a great day with a double and a run batted in. John Resnick (South Fork HS, Stuart, FL, 2016) also contributed with a single, walk, and RBI to go with two stolen bases.

Big Innings Fuel Long Island Pirates Win

Two big innings allowed Long Island Pirates 16U to win 12-0 in five innings over MPi 16U Grey Saturday at Bishop Verot High School.

The Pirates needed just five hits, taking advantage of nine drawn walks to push 12 runs across the board. Leading the way offensively for Long Island was Elijah Taveras (2015, Valley Stream Central HS, NY), who drove in two runs and singled twice. North Florida Storm 16U-Black impressive at the plate and on the mound in 8-0 win against Baseline 16U Columbia. Moises Pichardo (2016, Stanton College Preparatory) pitched 4 innings and picked up the win for the Storm 16U-Black. He also finished with an impressive 9 strike outs and only allowed 1 hit.

Jordan Culp ((2016, Columbia) set the tone offensively for North Florida going 3-3 with 2 RBI. Matt Cuthrell (2017, West Nassau County) had two hits of his own with an RBI and a run scored.

James Gandy (2016, Hamilton County) and Kaleb Thomas (2016, Columbia) also added a hit, a run, and an RBI each.

Late Double Forces Tie

A two-out RBI double from Darian Munoz (2016, Miami Springs HS, FL) in the bottom of the seventh forced a 2-2 tie between South Florida Eagles and Team Tampa Bay 16U Saturday at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

Munoz’s double to left field scored Christian Coleman (2016, Western HS, FL), who had began the inning with a single to the left side. A groundout with Munoz on second ended the game in a tie.

Team Tampa Bay scored all their runs in the third inning. Trailing 1-0, Team Tampa Bay did their damage with two outs. A double from Back tied the game, scoring Scott McGuire (2016, Wharton HS, FL), who had started the inning with a single. After Brian Seybold (2016, Freedom HS, FL) was hit by a pitch, Garrett Thompson (2017, Tampa Bay Tech HS, FL) singled through the middle to score Back. Back had a 3-for-3 game for Team Tampa Bay.

Goff pitched well for Team Tampa Bay, allowing just one run over his three innings of work. Goff threw 75 percent of his pitches for strikes, and reached 74 mph with his fastball. Richie Quinn (2015, Nature Coast Tech HS, FL) also had a solid day on the mound, retiring all six of the hitters he faced. Quinn topped out at 72 mph with his fastball.

South Florida Eagles’ first run was scored in the second inning, on an RBI groundout by Joe Soto (2017, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL). Five of the Eagles’ eight hits were supplied by two players — three hits from Pauly Monduy (2016, Mater Academy Lakes, FL) and two from Coleman.

South Florida’s Nick Mederos (2017, Braddock HS, FL) battled through trouble over his five innings of work, allowing just two runs on eight hits. Mederos’ fastball reached 74 mph. Brandon Cruz (2017, Monsignor Pace HS, FL) came on and shut down Team Tampa Bay in the final two innings, allowing for the seventh inning rally to avoid defeat. Cruz threw all fastballs, topping out at 77 mph.

Hit Factory 16U Blue victorious 4-0

The Hit Factory 16U Blue team got an early lead and didn't budge as it shutout Cape Thunder in a 4-0 win.
The stars of the game were the Hit Factory pitchers, who combined for a 4-hit shutout with no walks allowed. Starter Justin Alessi (Tampa Catholic HS, Lutz, FL, 2016) struck out 9 hitters in his 6 innings, and Vincent Scanio (Tampa Catholic HS, Tampa, FL, 2016) pitched the 7th to close the game out. Alessi displayed a fastball that topped out at 79 MPH to go with a healthy repertoire of off-speed pitches.
At the plate, Kyle Langiotti (Steinbrenner HS, Odessa, FL, 2016) turned in a stellar day, going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Greg Barone (King HS, Wesley Chapel, FL, 2017) also had a good game with 2 walks and an RBI.

Attatude Baseball cruises to a 19-0 victory

In an offensive showcase, Attatude Baseball collected 19 runs on 11 hits and 10 walks in their win over CRFS Blue Rocks. Most of the production came in the third inning, when they scored 11 of those runs.
In a game of so many top performers, there were a few who stood above the rest for Attatude. Tyler Malinowski (Osceola HS, Seminole, FL, 2016) went 2-2 with two runs scored and three runs batter in. Luke Bibelhauser (Osceola HS, Seminole, FL, 2016) reached base twice (single and walk) and showed the wheels by collecting 3 stolen bases. The 1-2 hitters for Attatude, Tristan Allen (Pinellas Park HS, St. Petersburg, FL, 2016) and Ryan Griffith (Pinellas Park HS, Seminole, FL, 2016), also collected multiple hits with one of Griffith's being a double.
On the mound, Derrek Jaar (Pinellas Park HS, St. Petersburg, FL, 2016) pitched 4 scoreless innings for Attatude, striking out 5 and allowing only one single.
The leadoff hitter for the CRFS Blue Rocks, Glodys Martinez (Osceola HS, Orlando, FL, 2015), was a bright spot, reaching base twice on two walks.

Lavanture and Cortes Combine for No-Hitter

Scorpions 2016 Prime pitchers Tanner Lavanture (2016, Bayside HS, FL) and Carlos Cortes (2016, Lake Howell HS, FL) combined on a five-inning no-hitter in a 10-0 win over South Florida Huskies 16U Saturday at City of Palms Park.

Lavanture tossed the first three innings, striking out six hitters with two walks. The lefty displayed a balanced, smooth delivery, and his fastball reached 85 mph, sitting between 76-84 mph. He also showed good depth and break on his curveball.

In the final two innings, Cortes struck out four of the seven hitters he faced, surrendering just a fifth-inning walk. Cortes’ fastball topped out at 82 mph, and spent most of the game in the 76-82 mph range.

The Scorpions also displayed their potent offense, especially in the final two innings, where they put up nine of their ten runs. Leadoff hitter and Mississippi commit Marc Coffers (2016, Barron Collier HS, FL) produced in each of his three plate appearances, recording two hits including a double, three runs scored, two stolen bases, and a run batted in. UCF recruit Joe Skinner (2016, Bishop Moore HS, FL) and Jared Herron (2016, Trinity Preparatory School, FL) each added two RBIs, and Florida State commit Drew Mendoza (2016, Lake Minneola HS, FL) supplied two runs. John Radetsky (2016, Lake Mary HS, FL), one of the top ten Florida third-basemen in his class, also added an RBI.

Team Prospect Int'l defeated the Florida Tornadoes 16U 7-5 on Saturday behind lead-off hitter Ramon Guzman's (2016, Dominican Republic, FL) big day at the plate. Guzman finished the day 3-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Daniel De Leon (2016, Dominican Republic, DR) and Anthony Moronta (2016, Dominican Republic, FL) each had 1 hit and 1 RBI for the winners. Jaymark Garcia (2015, Mater Academy East Charter, FL) was also 1-2 with 2 runs scored.

Guzman closed out the last inning of the game on the mound and struck out 2 of the 4 batters he faced. He featured a fastball that averaged 78-83 and topped out at 84.

Lead-off hitter Cameron Krzeminski (2016, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) led the offense for the Florida Tornadoes 16U team, going 1-1 with a double, a stolen base, 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and 3 RBI's. Late game drama leads to victory for the Storm

Thanks to some late inning heroics, the North Florida Storm 16U - Grey pulled out the victory over the Hit Factory 16U Black.
Hit Factory starter Cam Carlson (Tampa Preparatory HS, Tampa, FL, 2016) pitched the entire game for his team, throwing 102 pitches in the process. His fastball topped out at 79 MPH and mixed in a mid-60s curveball. The Storm came out with 2 pitchers, Kevin Stiles (Stanton College Preparatory HS, Jacksonville, FL, 2016) and starter Manuel Guerra (Englewood HS, Jacksonville, FL, 2016). Guerra lasted 5 2/3 innings, giving up one unearned run while striking out 4 batters. Stiles came in for relief and allowed one run in his 2 1/3 innings, cranking his fastball up to 82 MPH in the process.
Chance Vila (Tampa Catholic HS, Tampa, FL, 2016) showed off his speed by swiping two bases for Hit Factory, while Evan Plamann (Tampa Catholic HS, Brandon, FL, 2017) recorded a double and the only RBI for them. For the Storm, Dylan Wolfe (Stanton College Preparatory HS, Jacksonville, FL, 2016) had a productive day with a double and a stolen base out of the leadoff spot. The offense was spread out across the board, with the game's 9 hits being recorded by 9 different batters.

Suncoast Select 16U defeated the C. S. Clippers on Saturday 9-1. Ryan Starry (2017, Nature Coast Technical HS, FL) and Josue Erazo (2017, Gulf HS, FL) had the big hits for Suncoast, both doubling. Starry would finish 1-2 with 2 runs scored, 1 walk, and 2 RBI. Erazo would also finish 1-2 with 3 RBI and a walk. Elijah Ramirez (2016, Hernando HS, FL) also scored 1 run and had 1 RBI, and Alex Atkinson (2015, Citrus HS, FL) scored 2 runs for the winners.

Mike Smith (2017, Gulf HS, FL) started the game pitching for Suncoast Select 16U and threw 4 innings of scoreless baseball. Smith was able to hold the Clippers to only 2 hits and struck out 5 batters. He maintained a velocity of 76-78 and reached as high as 82 with his fastball.

Predators Baseball earned a lop-sided victory over SWFL 15U Navy Team 9-0 behind strong pitching and hitting on Saturday afternoon. Henry Santiago (2017, University HS, FL) hit an RBI-triple for the winners and scored a run. Quintaryus Bournes (2017, Apopka HS, FL) and Jaylen Young (2017, Wekiva HS, FL) both hit doubles and scored a run. Bournes collected 2 RBI's with his extra-base hit. Shortstop Ryan Brewer (2017, Apopka HS, FL) finished the game 1-1 and scored 2 runs.

Zach Combs (2016, Wekiva HS, FL) pitched 3 innings of no-hit baseball for the Predators. Combs finished his 3 innings of work without allowing a single base runner and throwing 73% of his pitches for strikes.

Jake Crandon (2016, Canterbury HS, FL) was also 1-1 with a run scored and an RBI. The only other RBI was collected by Joshua Lamoureux (2016, Clearwater Cntrl Cath HS, FL), who went 1-2 in the game.

The Carrollwood Gators pounded out 11 hits for 9 runs on Saturday to earn a 9-1 victory over Baseline 16U White. Ryan Glass (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) and Kenny Rodriguez (2017, Gaither HS, FL) each recorded 2 hits and 2 RBI's in the game. Both of Rodriguez's hits went for doubles and Glass added one as well. Patrick Morris (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) was a perfect 2-2 on the day with 2 runs scored.

On the mound, Josh Bobrowski (2017, Gaither HS, FL) threw 3 innings for the Gators and struck out 5 batters. Anthony Cassos (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) and CJ Van Eyk (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) each pitched a scoreless inning with 1 strikeout. Van Eyk averaged a velocity of 74-76 and reached as high as 78.

The Florida Hardballers 16U Black defeated the Florida Pokers Underclass Carolina 4-3 thanks to Tommy Knowd's (2016, Vanguard HS, FL) strong day at the plate. Knowd finished the game going 3-4 with an RBI, stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Shortstop Jackson Greene (2017, Suwannee HS, FL) also contributed 3 hits having a perfect 3-3 day at the plate. Justin McCranie (2017, F. W. Buchholz HS, FL) plated 2 runs with a 2 RBI single as well.

Max McKettrick (2016, Desoto County HS, FL) and Tyler Buckner (2016, Santa Fe HS, FL) made stellar appearances on the mound for the Florida Hardballers 16U Black, pitching 4 innings of scoreless baseball. McKettrick started the game and threw 1 inning, striking out the side in order. Buckner followed McKettrick and finished the next 3 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 6.

The Florida Burn 2016 Silver won 4-1 over the Florida Pokers Underclass Navy thanks to a late-inning rally. Pitchers Bradford Jones (2017, Venice Senior HS, FL) and Collin Booten (2017, Calvary Christian HS, FL) combined to hold Florida Pokers Underclass Navy to 1 unearned run over 7 innings. Jones allowed 2 hits over his 4 innings of work and struck out 6 batters. Booten finished the final 3 innings and showed great command of the strike zone, throwing 74% of his pitches for strikes and striking out 6.

Florida Pokers Underclass Navy's starting pitcher and 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention Chase Solesky (2016, John Carroll Catholic HS, FL) pitched a great game despite taking a no-decision. Solesky surrendered only 3 hits and strucking out 5 opposing hitters. Solesky was also 1-2 at the plate with a double.

Florida Burn 2016 Silver's offense was sparked by lead-off hitter Brent Killam (2016, Venice Senior HS, FL) who went 2-2 with a walk, 1 run scored, and a stolen base. Pitchers Johnnie Schneider (2015, Calvary Christian HS, FL) and Joey Favetta (2015, Seminole HS, FL) held the South Florida Storm White offense to 0 runs and only 1 hit in the game. Schneider threw the first 3 innings and allowed 1 hit and struck out 3. He featured a fastball that averaged a velocity of 81-84 and topped out at 86 by the end of his 3 innings of work. Favetta pitched the final 2 innings and maintained a fastball velocity of 78-82 that reached 84 at times. He allowed 0 hits and struck out 4 batters in the game.

2014 Underclass High Honorable Mention Rylan Thomas (2016, West Orange HS, FL) had a stellar game and paced the offense for Florida Burn 2016 Pennant. Thomas finished the game 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and a stolen base. Along with Thomas, Nicholas Baldor (2016, Jesuit HS, FL) contributed 2 RBI's and scored a run. Gamewear Nationals halt PBA Black

PBA Black's 7th innings rally fell short as the Gamewear Nationals held on for a 6-5 win. Tyler Perez (2016, Mater Academy Charter) pulled in a quality start showing sound mechanics for the Nationals and picked up the win. In 6 innings of work, he allowed only 3 hits, while allowing no earned runs, and he struck out 4. Angel Gonzalez (2016, Mater Academy Charter) picked up the save in relief.

Chris Torres (2016, Miami Senior) led the offense for the Nationals collecting two hits in three tries. He also added an RBI.

Trey Fields (2017, Lemon Bay) led the charge for PBA Black going 2-2 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored.

Florida Burn 2016 cruises by Naturals 9-1

The Florida Burn 2016 Pennant put up a five spot in the second frame and cruised to a 9-1 win over Naturals 15U. A pair of Nick's were instrumental in the Burn's offense as Nicholas Baldor (2016, Jesuit HS, FL) and Nick Ortega (2016 Jesuit HS, FL) each drove in a pair of runs and scored once with Baldor knocking a double and Ortega picking up two singles. Baldor showcased a fluid stroke with a good eye and a line drive approach. He's got a live bat but has limited power, and profiles as a left fielder because of that. He has the arm for right field but his bat will have to improve leaps and bounds.

Israel Cordero (2017, Cooper City HS, FL) finished off the game with two scoreless innings with four strike outs, two walks and one hit allowed. His fastball ranged from 76-81 mph while reaching back and grabbing 82 a few times. The mechanics are sound and the arm action is easy as he comes from an over the top angle. He effectively pitches inside and can drop a curve with 2/8 break in the low 60's that has potential.

Florida Burn squeak by with 1-0 Win

Florida Burn 2016 Gold scored one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning and that proved to be enough as they held on for the 1-0 win over Players Edge 16U.

Owen Ragsdale (2017, Lakewood Ranch, FL) went 2-3 at the plate for the Burn. Tristan Burdette (2016, Braden River, FL) batted 1-2 and drove in the lone run during the game. Frank Furey (2018, Carrollwood Day, FL) scored the single run. Eric Brown (2016, Venice Senior, FL) tossed the final four innings and recorded the win. Brown allowed three hits, no runs, and struck out seven.

Chris Sanders (2016, West Boca Raton, FL) and Chad Davis (2016, Spanish River Community, FL) combined for 4 of the 5 hits for Players Edge 16U. Each finished the game with two hits.

Scorpions Prime too much for Elite Squad

Scorpions 2016 Prime used a big fourth inning as well as 11 strikeouts combined by their pitchers to propel them to victory over Elite Squad 16U TPX by a final score of 5-2.

Marc Coffers (2016, Barron Collier, FL), Carlos Cortes (2016, Lake Howell, FL), and Spencer Taylor (2016, Trinity Christian Academy, FL) provided all the power on offense for the Scorpions 2016 Prime. All three recorded at least two hits and each doubled once. Coffers and Cortes also drove in one run each.

David Flores (2016, Western, FL) and Aram Leighton (2016, Pine Crest, FL) each scored a run in the loss for Elite Squad. Flores and Ryan Hernandez (2016, Christopher Columbus, FL) each batted 2-3.

Cape Thunder walks off on error, win 6-5

Another intense back and forth battle was underway between Cape Thunder and Florida Hardballers 16U Black with the Thunder coming out on top. The Hardballers jumped out first, then lost the lead the following half inning. It was like this until the bottom of the seventh when Tyler Mitchell (2016, Cape Coral HS, FL) reached on an error and Brandon Feehery (2015, Mariner HS, FL) came in to score the game winning run. Tyler Turnbull (2015, Ida Baker HS, FL) drove in two with a single and later scored, and Gianni Williams (2016, Ida Baker HS, FL) stroked an RBI double.

Jordan Pinto (2015, Ida Baker HS, FL) went the distance for the Thunder, allowing two earned runs in seven frames with three hits and four walks to four strike outs as he earned the win. Pinto threw an astounding 111 pitches, with 98 of them fastballs. He averaged between 77-81 mph and maxed out at 82 mph. He mixed in 13 curves in the low-60's with good command of it and 1/7 break. Pinto's got a balanced, smooth delivery with a loose and easy arm action with mound presence. He comes from over the top and attacks hitters while working all around the zone.

The Florida Hardballers 16U Black went to Michael Jimenez (2017, Trinity Catholic HS, FL) for the start and he gave them four innings with a walk, four hits, three punch outs and three runs allowed. He showed an effortless fastball that scrapes 80 mph from a high 3/4 arm angle and deceptive delivery. His main secondary weapon was a change up between 63-69 mph with good arm side run and flashes potential. Max McKettrick (2016, Desoto County HS, FL) was on base all day for these Hardballers, going 1-1 with two walks, two runs and two RBI.

Hardballers beat down CRFS Blue Rocks 13-4

The Florida Hardballers 16U Red had too much offense for CRFS Blue Rocks to handle as they worked nine walks and hammered out 11 hits to win 13-4.

Hagan Sampson (2016, Forest HS, FL), lifted his first home run of the tourney to left field, driving in two with a strike out and error. Riley Ferrer (2016, Forest HS, FL) picked up a pair of hits and scored twice. Ferrer uses a very aggressive approach in the box with a leg lift and slightly open stance. Andrew Eyster (2017 Forest HS, FL) came around to cross home three different times, with two hits and a RBI. Adan Fernandez (2017, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy, FL) and Avondre Hendricks (2017, Archbishop Edward Mccarthy, FL) combined for all four hits in the win for Elite Squad. Each went a perfect 2-2 at the plate. Adan scored once and also tossed the fine 2 2/3 innings allowing no hits. Hendricks powered the offense by driving in three runs.

Blake Roxberry (2016, Gulf Coast, FL) and Niels Stone (2017, Gulf Coast, FL) each drove in one run in the loss for the SWFL Bombers Select.

Premier Baseball Academy - Orlando 16U and Florida Burn 2017 Navy had an exciting game in the 1st inning, but it was those first inning runs that determined this game. Premier Baseball outscored the Burn 4-1 during the 1st inning and that proved to be enough in a 4-1 win.

Michael Dunn (2016, Lake Nona, FL) recorded the lone RBI in the win for Premier Baseball Academy while four different players scored a run. Cameron Meehan (2017, Timber Creek, FL) got the start and tossed six solid innings. While giving up three hits, he allowed just one run and struck out five.

Parker Shanahan (2017, St. Stephens Episcopal, FL) drove in the lone run for Florida Burn 2017 Navy. Jake Starck (2017, Venice Senior, FL) scored the run.

Xtreme Baseball Navy 15U used 8 runs in the 6th inning to get a big 11-1 victory over the North Florida Storm 16U - Black.

Christian Menendez (2016, Bishop Verot, FL) went 1-3 at the plate for Xtreme, but was responsible for 3 RBI's in the win. Alec Babb (2017, Canterbury, FL) had an RBI-double for his only plate appearance. Christian Proffitt (2017, Ida Baker, FL) batted 2-2 with 1 RBI and one run scored.

Javier Valdez (2016, Ferguson, FL) pitched a complete game effort for Xtreme Baseball. He gave up five hits and just one run while striking out an impressive 8 batters. Valdez had effortless arm action, attacked hitters, and displayed a smooth delivery. He threw strikes and had the ability to pitch out of trouble at times. His fastball was consistent in the upper 70s and low 80s.

St. Lucie dominates in 10-2 win

St. Lucie Mets Select scored 10 runs on 11 hits and downed MPi 16U Grey 10-2 in 4 1/2 innings.

Alex Lopez (2015, Port St. Lucie, FL) and Robert Ocasio (2016, Port St. Lucie, FL) each batted a perfect 2-2 in the win for the Mets. Lopez drove in one run and scored twice while Ocasio knocked in two runs and scored once himself. Lopez was an aggressive hitter with good bat. Ocasio had a quick bat and showed he could hit to all fields. Keenan Bryant (2016, Fort Pierce Central, FL) also went 2-2 and scored two runs.

Sean Dakin (2015, Port St. Lucie, FL) tossed the final 3 2/3 innings for St. Lucie. Dakin gave up one hit, walked no one, and recorded 5 K's. His fastball was consistent in the upper 70s.

Chris Headley (2016, Immaculata-La Salle, FL) and Osmary Perez (2016, Miami Southridge, FL) combined to register for the two hits for MPi 16U Grey.

C.S. Clippers outlast Cohetes Underclass 7-6

In an excellent see-saw battle, the C.S. Clippers rode a five run seventh inning that included three crucial insurance runs to beat the North Florida Cohetes Underclass. Conor Kelly (2016, Deerfield Beach HS, FL) brought the thump for the Clippers, going 2-3 with a triple, run scored, and three runs knocked in. Zachary Audet (2017, Pompano Beach HS, FL) had a good day on the mound too, earning the win with three innings of work with two strike outs and two earned runs, four hits and a walk allowed. His fastball got up to 78 mph but settled around 73-77 mph and was his main weapon, going to the curve only three times.

Brayan Robles (2016, Arlington County Day HS, FL) was on point for the Cohetes, striking out eight batters in five frames with just two hits and one walk allowed, as well as two unearned runs. His heater say in the mid 70's, reaching back for 79 mph when he needed to. He also featured a curve anywhere from 65-67 mph. Catcher Elijah Rawlinson (2018, Bartram Trail HS, FL) showed off some serious pop, going 2-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, and an error. He makes very hard contact with good bat speed and a live bat that has light tower power. Rawlinson hits to all fields and has a sound approach at the plate. Zachary Wedekll (2017, Ponte Vedra HS, FL) knocked two in as well with a double and a walk on the day.

MPi 16U Navy beat the Florida Burn 2016 Silver 5-2 in an 8:00 AM tournament game. Carter started for MPi 16U Navy and threw a complete game giving up just 2 earned runs and collecting 6 strikeouts. He threw mostly fastballs and sat 73-80 mph. On offense, Damien Irigoyan (2016, Hialeah Senior HS, FL) led the team going 2-3 with a run. Alvaro Valdez (2016, Westminster Christian HS, FL) was 1-3 with an RBI double.

Shutavo started for the Burn going 3 innings and showing a 79-81 mph fastball. He was relieved by Charlie Topp (2017, North Port HS, FL) who threw 4 shutout innings. He used a 72-75 mph fastball and 61-68 mph curveball to rack up 4 strikeouts.

Nikko Levine (2016, Newsome HS, FL) led the team on offense going 1-3 including a home run in the bottom of the 6th. Jake Angel (2016, Spruce Creek HS, FL) contributed with 2 hits.

PBA Royal downs Miami Suns late

The Miami Suns 16U scored first, but could not keep the lead as PBA Royal tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the 4th. PBA scored again in the bottom of the 6th and held on in the 7th to take the 2-1 victory over the Suns.

Michael Laezza (2016, Ida Baker, FL) doubled and registered 1 RBI in the win for PBA Royal. Cameron Maglio (2016, Mariner, FL) sacrificed in the 6th that drove in the game-winning run.

Hunter Tinsley (2016, Riverdale, FL) tossed a complete game for PBA Royal. Tinsley gave up just two hits, walked five, and struck out seven batters. He showed mound presence, sound mechanics, and a good follow through on his arm action. He had a balanced delivery with good command on his fastball.

Randy Gomez (2018, Undecided HS, FL) registered the lone RBI for Miami Suns 16U. Robert Touron (2017, Gulliver Schools, FL) started on the mound and threw three good innings. He showed a smooth, online delivery with life on his fastball. Touron knew how to pitch and was around the plate with all pitches. He allowed no hits and struck out 6 while hitting 86mph on his fastball.

Florida Burn 2016 Navy beat Xtreme Baseball Red 15 U 3-0 after doing all of their scoring in the first inning. Daniel Pierce (2016, Sarasota HS, FL) started for the Burn throwing 3 shutout innings and picking up 7 strikeouts. He showed projectable stuff, good command, and smooth delivery along with his 78-80 mph fastball. He was relived by Grant Baker (2016, Sickles HS, FL) who threw 4 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts. He used a 75-78 mph fastball and occasional curveball and change-up to keep hitters off balance.

At the plate, Mason Strickland (2016, Freedom HS, FL) went 2-3 with a double and a run and Nikolas Dague (2016, Sickles HS, FL) went with a triple and a run. Jake Grubbs (2016, Venice Senior HS, FL) contributed tot the offense going 1-2 with a run, and RBI, and a walk.

N Florida Storm Grey win 8-7 over Baseline Navy

Through three frames the Baseline 16U Navy squad was in control, leading 2-1. They tacked on three more runs in the top half of the fourth inning to bring their lead to four before North Florida Storm Grey woke up their bats. The Storm scored seven runs in the bottom half of the fourth to take them from a four run deficit to three run lead. Baseline mounted a late comeback but fell short by one run.

Conner Chambers (2016, Merritt Island HS, FL) and Jonathin Hardin (2016, Columbia HS, FL) lead the way offensively for the Storm, with Chambers knocking a double with an RBI, stolen base and strike out. Chambers stays inside the ball well with good bat speed and a line drive swing. He's also got broad shoulders to go with a large frame and even more room to fill. Hardin pitched in a single, walk, and a run batted in. Hardin features a short, compact swing with a good eye and sound hitting approach. He is patient at the plate with a line drive swing that projects to be a middle of the order stick.

For Baseline 16U Navy William Sanchez (2016, Keys Gate Charter HS, FL) shouldered the majority of the innings, tossing 3.1 frames with six punch outs and two walks. His heater was sitting in the 75-78 mph range with riding life, peaking at 81 mph from an overhand arm slot. He's got a smooth delivery with mound presence and he controls the running game well. He showed a handful of deceptive change ups with good sink and arm speed. Sanchez also threw a late breaking curve with 2/8 break. His stuff is projectable, he has room to fill out, and knows how to pitch.

Elite Squd 16U Prime came out swinging and routed Baseline 16U Columbia 8-0 in five innings of play. Elite Squad pitchers allowed just one hit in the win.

Jesus Luzardo (2016, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, FL) got the start on the mound for Prime and pitched three solid innings. Luzardo set up hitters, changed speeds, and displayed a smooth delivery as he allowed no hits, walked none, and fanned seven. He had a good FB that topped out at 86mph. Andres Perez (2016, Terra Environmental Research Institute, FL) tossed the final two innings giving up one hit and striking out four. Perez had good command, threw easy, and worked fast on the mound. His fastball reached 84mph.

Mike Amiditis (2016, Boca Raton Community, FL) homered for Elite Squad. He displayed raw power with a live bat. Gregory Velez (2016, Key West, FL) and Landon Silver (2016, Westminster Christian, FL) each registered an RBI as well.

Pokers Elite beat the South Florida Storm White 3-2 in a tight game at North Fort Myers High School. Brandon Kaminer (2017, Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, FL) started for Pokers Elite and picked up the win after throwing 3.1 innings and giving up just one earned run. He ran up a 72-77 mph fastball with life and showed good command. He along had a strong 61-66 mph curveball and was able to change speeds well. David Cantella (2015, Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, FL) came in for an inning of relief and threw a 75-80 mph fastball. Rafael Santos (2017, Deerfield Beach HS, FL) was able to close out the game using and impressive 80-82 mph fastball.

On offense, Pokers Elite was led by Buddy Howard who went 2-2 with a run and Joey Rugare (2016, Monarch HS, FL) who went 1-2 with a walk, a run, an RBI, and 2 stolen bases.

Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) started on the mound for Elite Squad 15U Slugger and threw 2 shutout innings. Steven Santos (2016, Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) threw the final 5 innings collecting 3 strikeouts on a 69-73 mph fastball and occasional curveball.

Leonardo Torres (2017, West Broward HS, FL) led Elite Squad at the plate going 1-2 with a double, a run scored, and a walk.

Kyle Weber (2016, The King’s Academy, FL) and Landon Wogalter (2017, Spanish River Community, FL) threw 3+ innings each for the Shockers combing for 7 strikeouts and just one earned run. Weber threw mostly fastballs at 71-74 mph.

The JMBC Sentinels 16U used a big fifth inning to overtake the Busty Bulls and take home the win 6-3. Zach Witroth (2016, Ridgewood HS, FL) provided the biggest punch on offense, going 2-3 with a pair of singles, two RBI, and a stolen base. Jake Mannino (2015, Frank W. Springstead HS, FL) also turned in a multi-hit performance with two singles and a stolen base in two trips to the plate. Mike Paule (2016, Alonso HS, FL) knocked a double, drove in one and scored once while lead off man Eric Correa (2015, Frank W. Springstead HS, FL) scored twice in three at bats with a single, RBI, stolen base and he also reached on a fielder's choice.

On the bump Victor Deleon (2015, Wiregrass Ranch HS, FL) got the start and threw 3.2 scoreless frames for the Sentinels, earning the win. He struck out one, walked one, allowed two hits and he hit one batter with two wild pitches as well. Deleon featured a 71-75 mph fastball and a mid-60's slider. Noah Siem (2016, Frank W. Springstead HS, FL) handled the last 2.1 innings and was overpowering. He ran his fastball up to 78 mph while sitting between 71-77 mph, with loose arm action and good follow through. He pitches downhill with a high 3/4 arm slot from a lean, wiry build that has room to grow. Siem allowed three unearned runs on three hits, four walks, a hit batter, and two wild pitches. More importantly, five of his seven outs he recorded were via strike out.

The Busty Bulls were lead with the lumber by Frankie Guelli (2017, Oxbridge Academy, FL) who was 1-3 with a double, a run scored and stolen base. Javier Carrasquillo (2017, Palm Beach Central HS, FL) also pitched in with a single, stolen base, and walk in three trips to the plate.

The Palm Beach Shockers Blue scored 3 in runs in the 5th and 6th innings to give them the 9-4 victory over Elite Squad 16u Slugger. The Palm Beach shockers held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th inning before their offense took control.
Michael Decker, (2016, Palm Beach Central HS, FL) led the Shockers at the plate going 3-3 with 3 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI. Ryan Stark, (2016, Welington HS, FL) also had a good day at the plate for the Palm Beach Shockers Blue picking up a base hit and driving in 2 runs.

Giants Baseball was no match for the onslaught GCBA brought with them this morning. The offense was led by Parker Pillbury (2018, Seven Rivers Christian HS, FL) who was 2-2 with a triple and two runs scored. Peyton Doumite (2017. St. Louis Catholic HS, LA) was 1-1 with a walk, two runs scored and he also drove in two runs. All told, GCBA tallied sevein hits and worked four walks to put up nine runs on Giants Baseball.

Coy Phillips (2018, Seven Rivers Christian HS, FL) came on in relief of Jalen Soto (2018 Cypress Lake HS, FL) and shut down Giants Baseball the rest of the game, only allowing one hit in four innings with no walks and three strike outs. Phillips used his moxie on the mound to maneuver through the line up, working mainly off his 68-70 mph fastball with a few offspeed pitches thrown in to keep hitters honest. He also committed two errors in the game, and was 1-2 at the plate with a stolen base, single and he reached on an error.

Taj Thompson (2015, Charlotte Amalie HS, Virgin Islands) recorded the only hit for Giants Baseball, a double, and Eleury Yan Rosario (2017, Charlotte Amalie HS, Virgin Islands) was the only other player to reach base (via an error).

HBP Pirates shut out Miami Astros 16U in 9-0 win

The story of the day was Kenneth Colon (2015, Celebration HS, FL) who absolutely handcuffed the Miami Astros 16U to the tune of only one hit in five frames. He also walked one and struck out five, utilizing his lower half well with a deceptive delivery that hides the ball well. The fastball wasn't over powering at 70-74 mph, but he was able to run it in on righties and sink it as well. The heat is his money pitch and he can effectively pitch inside. Colon throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle in the back and tight release. He also attacks hitters while on the bump, working fast and keeping the opposition off balance.

Joshua Rivera (2016, Leto HS, FL) was 2-3 for the Pirates out of the lead off slot with a stolen base and the only error HBP Pirates would commit all game. Elking Nunez (2017, Lake Gibson Senior HS, FL) picked up the only extra base knock of the game, a triple, and he also walked, drove in one and scored once.

The first man up for Miami Astros 16U, Enrique Cabrera (2017, John A. Ferguson HS, FL) ended up being the only guy in the game to get a hit. He singled in the fourth inning and stole two bases. Johan Ruis (2015, G. Holmes Braddock HS, FL) was the last man brought into pitch for the Astros and he did well, not allowing any runs to score on his watch. The SWFL Prospects Underclass used a 4 run 1st inning to boost themselves to a 6-3 victory over the Suncoast Select 16u Blue.
The SWFL Prospects were led by Jack Dunn, (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL), who had one hit and scored 2 runs. Tyler Lopes, (2016, Seacrest Country Day HS, FL), helped contribute with his bat, hitting a double and scoring a run in the game for the Prospects.
The Prospects got a strong outing from starting pitcher Julian Ossias, (2015, Bloomingdale HS, FL), throwing 5 innings, allowing four hits and one run, and striking out 3. Ossias also picked up the W for the Prospects.
Suncoast Seclect Blue was led by Max Law, (2017, Land O' Lakes HS, FL), going 2-3 on the day with a double, scoring 1 run, and driving in a run. Kolby Stoltz, (2017, Sunlake HS, FL) had a good pitching outing coming in relief. Stoltz threw 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 0 runs and striking out 3.

Ambrosino leads FTB Sarasota to W

FTB Sarasota beat the Top American Prospects 16U 5-0 behind an excellent pitching performance. Left-handed pitcher Matthew Ambrosino (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) threw a complete game shutout and gave up just 2 hits while collecting 8 strikeouts. He showed a solid 3-pitch mix with a 73-76 mph fastball and had good command, an effortless arm action, and smooth delivery.

At the plate, Justin Fischer (2016, Out-Of-Door Academy, FL) doubled in a run in the top of the third to open up the scoring for the team. Ryley Zunica (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) had a 2 RBI single in the 4^th and ended the game 1-3. Tyler Mattes (2016, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) contributed with an RBI double as well and showed good bat speed and raw power.

The Cannons hold off Baseline 16U White 6-5.

The Baseline 16U White squad pulled ahead early against the Cape Coral Cannons, scoring twice in the first and one more in the third. The Cannons came blasting back in the fourth inning though, putting a six on the scoreboard to take a three run lead. Baseline made things interesting though when they came back to score twice in the bottom of the sixth and wound up stranding the tying run at third base. Cape Coral managed to come out on top despite registering only one hit in the game.

Clean-up hitter Willie Trenum (2017, Cape Coral HS, FL) for the Cannons had the only hit, a single, and he also walked, reached base via error, drove in a run and scored once himself. Starting pitcher Dillon Walczak (2017, Ida Baker HS, FL) picked up the win throwing three frames with only one earned run allowed on four hits, two walks, a pair of hit batters and a trio of wild pitches. He throws from a high 3/4 arm angle and controls the running game well with a balanced delivery.

Baseline got multi-hit games from Andrew Garcia (2016, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL) and Jose Rojas (2017 Mater Lakes HS, FL). Each smacked a pair of singles and came around to score twice. Garcia swiped two bags and also had a walk, reaching base in every plate appearance. Robert Menendez (2016, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL) was 1-2 with a walk, double, and the only RBI for Baseline. Justin Millares (2016, Mater Academy Lakes HS, FL) showed off some impressive raw power as well even though he was 0-2 in the game with a walk.

Luis Ezra (2017, Mater Academy Lakes HS, FL) pitched three hitless innings of relief for Baseline 16U White, topping out at 77 mph with his fastball while sitting more comfortably around 73-77 mph from an easy high 3/4 arm slot. He also featured a low 60's curve ball. Ezra walked two and struck out four with two wild pitches as well.

SCBA Mizuno scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to bring the game to tie a 4 apiece against the Florida Tornadoes. Taylor Garris, (2016, Cardinal Mooney HS, FL) and Davis Gurr, (2017, Sarasota HS, FL) each delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the 7th for SCBA Mizuno. Garris finished the game with 2 RBI.
SCBA Mizuno received a strong outing from Micah Davis, (2016, Booker HS, FL), who came in the game for relief, threw 4 innings allowing only one hit, 0 runs, 0 walks and striking out 10 batters.
The Florida Tornadoes received a good game from Zachary Urso, (2017, Western HS, FL), who had 2 base hits and 2 RBI in the game. The Tornadoes also got a good game from lead off hitter Cameron Krzeminski, (2016, St. Thomas, Aquinas HS, FL) who had 2 hits and scored a run.

Patrick Morris (2017, Steinbrenner HS, FL) came in in relief and picked up the win after throwing 3 innings and striking out 3 with his 70-74 mph fastball.

Florida Baseball Heaven Angels Gold used a 4 run first inning to beat the Fort Myers Fusion 6-1 Saturday morning. Nick Palestrini, (2016, Plant City HS, FL), led Heaven Angels Gold with 2 hits on the day, including an RBI double in the first inning. Palestrini also came around to score a run in the game. Austin Gaines, (2015, Newsome HS, FL), also helped lead the offense by collecting 2 base hits that included an RBI single in the first inning.
Helping in the victory was starting pitcher Nicholas Little, (2016, Newsome HS, FL), who delivered a complete game only allowing one run on 5 hits and striking out 8 batters. Little's deceptive delivery kept the Fort Myers Fusion batters off balance all game.
The Fort Myers Fusion received a strong game from Tanner Sherman, (2016, Estero HS, FL), who had 2 hits in the game, one of which was a double. Starting pitcher Isaac Lafebvre, (2015, South Fort Myers HS, FL) pitched a strong game going 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 0 runs and recording 2 strikeouts.

Gamewear Nationals and Dawg Pound 16U were locked in a 1-1 tie through four innings before the Nationals broke open the game in the fifth. Gamewear tacked 11 runs onto the scoreboard that inning once the Dawg Pound manager went to his bullpen. Alex Rodriguez (2016, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL) was 2-3 with a walk, double and two runs scored in the game. Lead off man Tyler Perez (2016, Mater Academy Charter HS, FL) also had a double, a run scored and RBI for Gamewear.

Starting pitcher Jason Grana (2016, Southwest Miami HS, FL) scattered three hits through four innings, allowing one run with no walks and five punch outs while making a first pitch strike to 10 of 13 batters faced. The 5'9 135 pound right hander was sitting 69-79 mph with his heater, reaching back for 80 on occasion. He aggressively used the fastball and stayed around the zone, mixing in a low 60's curve. His arm works well coming from a high 3/4 arm angle and Grana is very competitive on the mound.

Dawg Pound starter Jay Rodriguez (2015, Gaither HS, FL) tossed 3.2 scoreless innings with four hits and one walk allowed. He struck out three and sat 68-78 mph with his fastball all day. He also mixed in a slow curve, ranging anywhere from 58-61 mph. Infielder Camryn Williams (2016, Gaither HS, FL) was 1-1 with a sacrifice fly, a run scored, one RBI and three stolen bases for Dawg Pound 16U.

In a pitching duel between two teams from South Florida, the Clippers and the Rampage finished 7 innings of baseball tied at 1 apiece.
Christian Baez, (2017, Lake Worth HS, FL), scored in the bottom of the first inning for the South Florida Clippers, taking advantage on a throwing error. The South Florida Rampage tied the game in the top of the fifth inning due to Kevin Garcia's, (2017, Slam Charter HS, FL) RBI triple. But that was all both teams would get as this game was dominated by the pitchers.
Clippers pitcher Jonathan Rodriguez, (2016 Lake Worth HS, FL), threw a complete game, allowing only 3 hits and one run while striking out 9 batters. Rodriguez's good command allowed him to set up hitters and change speeds to keep them off balance all game.
The Rampage used a duo of arms to keep the game deadlocked at 1. Starting pitcher Carlos Marrero, (2016, Miami Coral Park HS, FL) threw 5 innings allowing only 1 hit and an unearned run while striking out 6 batters. Marrero was able to throw around the plate with all of his pitches allowing him to attack hitters and get him out of trouble. Alejandro Castro, (2016 Hialeah Gardens Senior HS, FL) relived Marrero and pitched 2 strong innings and didn't surrender any runs or hits while striking out 2. Castro showed good command of his pitches as he was effective pitching inside to batters.

Trinity blasts South Florida Huskies 11-1

The Trinity Young Guns jumped on South Florida Huskies 16U from the first pitch and did not stop. The Young Guns put up a crooked number in the first inning with six runs crossing the plate before the Huskies could come to bat for the first time in the game. Trevor Foggia (2017, James W. Mitchell HS, FL) picked up a pair of singles, drove in one, scored once, and swiped a bag for Trinity.

Clean-up hitter Ryan Slaughter (2016, James W. Mitchell HS, FL) went deep for the first home run of the tournament for the Young Guns, part of a 2-3 day with three runs scored, two RBI, and a single as well. Slaughter showed good bat speed from a large frame and slightly open batting stance. He gets good extension on his swing and has power potential and a confident approach when he steps to the plate.

S Chris of the Young Guns was stellar on the mound, throwing five innings with only one unearned run allowed on four hits and zero walks. Chris struck out four and sat 75-79 mph with his fastball, hitting 80 as a peak velocity from a high ¾ arm slot with good downhill plane. He also featured a high 60's curve that he commanded well and flashes potential with 11/5 break.

Gweshaughn Richards (2016, Charlotte Amalie HS, FL) came on in relief for the Huskies and struck out both batters he faced with a 75-80 mph fastball. He utilizes an overtop arm angle with a short arm circle in the back and pitches downhill with a good follow through. It helps having a large, athletic, 6'4 230 pound frame. Richards was also 1-2 at the plate with a single and a strike out.

The SWFL 16u Navy squad used a 12 run 3rd inning to beat the Team Bownet Tampa Bay Warriors 16u team 12-0. SWFL was led by Terrence Hebda, (2016, Cardinal Mooney HS, FL), who had one hit and collected 2 RBI in the game. SWFL was also led by McLean Harris, (2016, Gulf Coast HS, FL), who went a perfect 2-2 on the day, driving in 1 run and scoring twice.
SWFL got strong outings from a pair of pitchers to keep Team Bownet off balance. Starter, Peter Bozek, (2016, Riverview HS, FL) delivered 2 innings of work and allowed no runs on one hit, and struck out 3. Jonathan Chappell, (2016, Riverview HS, FL), relived Bozek and matched his stats. Chappell pitched 2 innings and also surrendered only 1 hit, allowed 0 runs and struck out 4 batters.
Tony Jones, (2016, IMG Academy HS, FL), and Jose Cadenas, (2016, Gaither HS, FL), each had one hit for Team Bownet. Pitcher Michael Falcon, (2016, Tampa Preparatory, FL), pitched 2 innings, giving up one hit and striking out 4.

Schulefand Breaks Tie in 6th to Win 3-2

Elite Squad 15U Prime defeated Tampa Terror- West 3-2 in six innings.

In Jordan Schulefand's (2017, Davie, F:) only hit of the game proved to be crucial in the victory over the Terror. He drove in the go ahead run in the top of the sixth. Daniel Federman (2017, Hollywood, FL) and Ubaldo Lopez (2017, Miramar, FL) collected a hit a piece. Federman drove in one run, while Lopez touched home once. Adan Fernandez (2017, Miramar, FL) went 1-2 while driving in another run of his own.

Schulefand started the game for the Elite Squad while going 2.1 innings and striking out four. He showed a balanced delivery with an overtop arm angle. He was also to throw all his pitches around the strike zone with his 78 to 81 mph pitches. Federman finished the game allowing two runs to cross with only giving up two hits and five strike outs. He was able to show off arm side run on his fastball that maxed out at 86 mph.

For the Terror, hitting came at a premium where only three hitters could one hit each off the Elite Squad pitching staff. Justin Rodriguez (2017, Clearwater, FL), Aaric Wabnitz (2017, Palm Harbor, FL), and Louis Steffens (2016, St. Petersburg, FL) were the only people to get a hit in the game.

Christian James (2016, Tarpon Springs, FL) started the game going 3.2 innings with seven strikeouts and allowing two runs, both unearned. He also allowed three of the four hits in the game. He showed loose arm action that was able to run the fastball up to 86 mph. Colton Gordon Zimring (2016, St. Petersburg, FL) finished the rest of the game allowing one hit with three strikeouts.

Palm Beach Shockers Maroon and Suncoast Select 16U Blue tied at nine in seven innings.

A total of 21 hits between the two teams proved to be crucial to tie the game.

The Shockers JJ Raymond (2017, Loxahatchee, FL) and Tritsch roped two hits a piece. Tritsch touched home once, but Raymond touched home three times in the game. Kyle Weber (2016, Loxahatchee, FL) tacked on a hit of his own while driving in one and touching home twice.

Matthew Levine (2017, Boca Raton, FL) ranged from 69 to 74 mph. He was able to top out at 76 mph. Levine went one inning while striking out two of the three batters faced.

The Suncoast Select 16U Blue, Max Law (2017, Land O Lakes, FL) went 3-3 while driving out three runs. He was able to touch home twice in the game. Kolby Stoltz (2017, Lutz, FL) went 2-3 while driving in two runs of his own. Henry Havre (2016, Lutz, FL) plated three runs of his own.

Gamewear Nationals defeated the Suncoast Selevt 16U Royals by a final score of 10-2 in six innings.

Gamewear started to an early lead of 6-1 at the end of the second. The Suncoast Select could not catchup after adding another run in the third.

Pitching was solid for the Gamewear Nationals by Christopher Rodriguez (2016, Virginia Gardens, FL) and Angel Gonzalez (2016, Hialeah, FL). Rodriguez started and went three innings. He gave up two runs on four hits. He was able to top out at 82 mph and averaged from 79 to 80 mph. Gonzalez maxed at 79 mph in his three innings of work. He was able to strike out three and only allow one hit.

Alex Rodriguez (2016, Miami, FL) led the Gamewear with three hits and four RBIs. Jason Grana (2016, Miami, FL) went 2-3 with driving in a run and two runs. Tyler Perez drove in two runs of his own and touched home twice in the matchup.

Giants Baseball defeated Players Edge 16U 8-0 in five innings.

Pitching for both clubs proved to be competitive. However, the Giants played solid defense and supported their starter.

Taj Thompson (2015, St. Thomas, VI) started for the Giants going the full game while only giving up two hits. He was able to strike out eight batters. He topped out at 82 mph and averaged from 76 to 79 mph.

Jason Richman (2018, Boca Raton, FL) started for the Players Edge and went 3.2 innings giving up four hits. Eight runs were able to score on him. Ryan Powers (2017, Boca Raton, FL) came in relief and went 1.1 innings and struck out two in the five batters faced.

The four through nine hitters were able to drive in a run each. De'Ondre Simmonds (2015, St. Croix, VI) was part of these hitters and was able to touch home once. Eleury Yan Rosario (2017, St. Thomas, VI) was able to match Simmonds in statistics with a hit, a run, and an RBI.

Carias Holds off Clippers in 3-0 Win

Premier Baseball Academy- Orlando 16 U defeated South Florida Clippers 3-0 in seven innings.

Winston Carias (2016, Orlando, FL) tossed a complete game while only giving up three hits. He struck out 12 Clippers in his outing. He was able to hit the strike zone 75 percent of the time. His velocity ranged from 69 to 71 mph, while topping at 74 mph.

Chris Jones (2017, Orlando, FL) for the Premier Baseball Academy cracked half of the hits for the team, three this. He was able to touch home once in the game. Garrett Kerkhoff (2017, Orlando, FL) collected a hit of his own and drive in an RBI.

Christian Baez (2017, Lantana, FL) for the South Florida Clippers started the game. He went four strong innings while only giving up one run on four hits. He was also able to strike out nine batters. Baez averaged 74 mph but maxed at 77 mph.

Perfect Game by Shuck Wins 9-0 for Xtreme

Axtreme Baseball Navy 15U deafeated Baselines 16 U Columbia in five innings by a final score of 9-0.

Tyler Shuck (2017, Cape Coral, FL) proved to be the key player for Xtreme Baseball Navy 15U. Shuck tossed a perfect game. He struck out nine while going all five innings. He held the opposition to no hits and no walks. He only threw 59 pitches, where 41 of them were strikes. He maxed out at 80 mph and averaged around 78 mph. He showed outstanding arm speed with a solid arm action. Shuck throws out of the 3/4 arm angle to compliment his smooth delivery.

Offensively, the roped eight total hits. Three of the hits came from Shane Shifflett (2017, Englewood, FL), a UCF commit. Shifflett also drove in three of the nine runs. He was also able to touch home twice. He also showed he could drive the ball while showing gap to gap consistency. Giovany Lorenzo (2017, Fort Meyers, FL) added a hit of his own while touching home once and a walk.

Team Bownet Tampa Bay Warriors and HBP Warriors finish six innings in a tie at seven runs each.

Errors were costly to both teams, which totaled to nine errors between the two teams.

Team Bownet Tampa Bay Warriors jumped out to an early two run lead, but were unable to hold the lead in the fourth inning. The Pirates put five runs to take a 7-5 lead. The Warriors tacked on two more in the fifth to tie the ball game.

Each starter, Corey Atwell (2015, Lakeland, FL) for the Pirates and Rey Rodriguez (2015, Tampa, FL) for the Warriors ended with a no decision. Atwell went 4.1 innings while allowing seven runs to cross but only one was earned. He topped out at 75 mph and showed long arm actions and worked downhill. Rodriguez maxed at 76 mph where he showed good command and attacked the hitters.

For the Pirates, Jose Calderon (2017, Haines City, FL) led the team with two hits, two runs, and an RBI. Joshua Rivera (2016, Lakeland, FL) matched with two runs of his own.

For the Warriors, Jose Cadenas (2016, Tampa, FL) and Elijah Anderson (2016, Tampa, FL) cracked two hits a piece. Cadenas touched home twice, while Anderson only touched once. Cadenas showed a quick bat while aggressively attacking each pitch while also showing quick speed on the base paths.

Predators Baseball defeated Miami Wolverines in a 6-2 game.

Ruben Saldana(2016, Orlando, FL) tossed three innings for the Predators while striking out seven Wolverines. He gave up both of the Wolverines runs, both earned. Saldana shows control on the hill where he shows riding life on his fastball. Justin Garcia (2017, Apopka, FL) came at the end of the game to hurl two innings and striking out two while only surrendering a lone hit.

Ryan Brewer (2017, Apopka, FL) and Michael Brown (2016, Ocoee, FL) cracked two hits of their own. Brown drove in one run and touched home twice in the matchup. Brewer drove in a run of his own.

Alejandro Cicero (2017, Miami, FL) started for the Miami Wolverines and only gave up two hits while striking out two and not giving up an earned run.

SCBA Mizuno defeated Team Prospect Int'l 9-1 in six innings.

Hunter Johnson (2016, Sarasota, FL) tossed for SCBA to get the victory in six innings. Johnson surrendered nine hits but only let one cross the plate. He struck out seven in his outing with only 81 pitches. Johnson threw plenty of strikes with his long arm action and good follow through. He showed a balanced delivery and sound mechanics on the mound.

For SCBA Mizuno offensively, they collected seven hits, and capitalized on four errors committed by the Team Prospect Int'l. Alex Arauz (2017, Sarasota, FL) and Taylor Garris (2016, Sarasota, FL) led the offense with two hits each. Aravz touched home twice and Garris drove in two runs of his own. The team as a whole was patient at the plate drawing seven walks in the matchup.

Team Prospect Int'l tallied nine hits of their own. Ramon Guzman(2016, Fort Lauderdale, FL) and Cesar Porte(2016, Santo Domingo, DR) tacked on two hits of their own. Porte was the only run for the Prospects.

Javier Taveras (2017, Miami, FL) hurled 5.2 innings while surrendering only five earned runs and four strikeouts. Taveras topped out at 75 mph and he showed good command of the fastball by using his lower half effectively.

Four-Run Seventh Propels Orlando Baseball Academy

The Orlando Baseball Academy took advantage of defensive miscues by the Cannons in the final frame to score four runs en route to the opening day victory.

Austin Graves (2016, Apopka HS, FL) had two of Orlando's three hits and drove in two runs, including an RBI single in the seventh inning. Graves showed good bat speed and a fluid stroke throughout the game as he used strong pitch selection to make the most of his at-bats.

Emilio Alvarez (2016, Lake Minneola, FL) started for Orlando and struck out nine batters over his six innings of work. Alvarez allowed only one run on three hits while walking two. On the mound, he demonstrated strong use of his lower half throwing from a three quarters arm slot as he mixed his pitches well, throwing his off-speed pitches evenly. Alvarez's slow curve ball (averaged 59 mph) slowed hitters bats down enough to keep them off of his low 70's fastball.

Misener Delivers Walk-Off Hit

Jeff Misener (2016, Nature Coast Technical, FL) delivered the final blow with a double to center field scoring the tying and go-ahead runs. Joshua Mendoza (2016, Seffner Christian Academy, FL) delivered the big hit in the sixth inning, a single to right, scoring two runs.

SCORE starter, Ryan Boyd (2017, Plant City, FL), tossed three scoreless innings of one-hit baseball while striking out four. Boyd showed strong command of both sides of the plate, using his high 70's fastball inside effectively to both right and left handed hitters.

The PBA Black jumped out to an early 4-0 lead at the end of the first inning, and more run production with eight runs in the fourth, led to an eventual 14-1 dominating win over the Dawg Pound 16U.

Trey Fields (2017, Lemon Bay HS, FL) had three RBIs in the game and Brandt Little (2016, Port Charlotte HS, FL) had two RBIs while also scoring a run for PBA Black.

Fields also contributed to an inning pitched on the mound striking out all three batters faced.

Four SWFL Prospects Pitchers Combine for 1-Hitter

SWFL used four pitchers to throw a 1-hitter as the offense pounded out 12 hits, scoring 11 runs as the Underclassmen went on to win 11-1.

Jeffrey Daly (2015, Jefferson HS, FL) started and threw three perfect innings, striking out six batters, setting an early tone for the game. Daly attacked hitters with mostly all fastballs, sprinkling in a few off-speed pitches throughout his outing as he was nearly untouchable. He showed a wide range on his fastball averaging 77 mph throughout his start and maxing out at 84 mph.

The eagles leadoff hitter, Jonathan Cosme (2015, Gulf Coast, FL) drove in four runs including a two-run double in the second. Cosme also scored two runs, reaching base twice as he finished the game 1-for-3 with a bases-loaded walk in the final inning.

Behind strong pitching, and a three run third inning, the Upstate Mavericks 16U come away with a 3-0 victory over the Florida Tornadoes 16U.

Noah Linhart (2015, Hendersonville HS, NC) pitched six strong innings, giving up just three hits while striking out eight. He displayed a good mound presence with a high 3/4 arm angle and utilized a good fastball, while mixing in some off-speed.

The Mavericks offense was sparked by leadoff hitter, Chris Thompson (2016, J L Mann HS, SC), who went 2-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, and also grabbed two stolen bases.

The Eagles sent eleven players to the plate and scored four runs in the top half of the final frame and held off a fervent Royals rally in the bottom half to escape with the win.

Joey Soto (2017, Mater Academy Charter, FL) finished the game 2-for-3 and tied the score at one in the top of the sixth with a double to right and scored the go-ahead run as the next batter, Chris Coleman (2016, Western, FL) followed with a double of his own to center field.

Eagles starter, Osvaldo Fernandez (2016, G. Holmes Braddock, FL), threw four strong innings allowing only one run while striking out four. Fernandez attacked hitters with his fastball early and often, sitting 75-79 mph and topping out at 81 mph. He also showed a feel for a decent curve that kept hitters off balance.

PBA Royal received solid pitching from both Jordan Zorbas and Tyler Yeager. Zorbas started and tossed two scoreless innings, allowing five base runners (3H, 2BB) while striking out three. Valley Forge went 4-25 at the plate and Florida Pokers Underclass Navy went an almost identical 5-23, and as fate would have it, both teams ended Friday afternoon's 16U East Memorial Tournament game with two runs, leading to a 2-2 tie after seven complete innings of play.

Valley Forge catcher Angel Amadeo (2016, West Broward, FL) went 2-3 with a run scored and four total bases in the game for Valley Forge, doubling on a ground ball down the left field line and exposing the right-center gap with a fly-ball two-bagger in the bottom of the sixth.

Roberto Reyes (2016, Charles W Flanagan, FL) tallied Florida's only extra-base hit of the afternoon, a line-drive triple down the right field line from the No. 4 spot in the Pokers' lineup.

SWFL Navy had strong pitching giving up just one hit in the game between five pitchers used.

David Mata (2017, Cape Coral HS, FL) went two innings striking out two and giving up one hit. He displayed good command with throwing strikes while also being around the plate. Mata was able to maintain velocity on his fastball, averaging 79-81/81 mph.

Retzler's Stong Outing Gets Win for Florida Surge

Florida Surge 16U beat Attatude Baseball 4-2 Friday afternoon in its first game of the WWBA 16U East Memorial Day Tournament behind a solid outing from starting pitcher Zach Retzler (2016, Royal Palm Beach, FL).

Needing an average of just 9.5 pitches per inning to retire 22 batters over 6.2 innings of work, Retzler conceded one hit, walked none and struck out four in the victory. He got ahead of batters early, generating 16 first-pitch strikes for a 72.7% first-pitch strike rate while inducing seven ground outs and six fly outs in the game.

Tyler Malinowski (2016, Osceola, FL) went 2-2 (both hits singles) for Attatude Baseball against Retzler, along with a run scored. Ethan Lovy (2016, Seminole, FL) scored the other run for Attatude in the game, getting on base via a single complimented by a stolen base.

SWFL 15U Grey edge by the Pirates 15U

The SWFL 15U Grey defeated the Long Island Pirates 15U 6-4, building off just five hits in the game. Trey Hiser (2017, Naples HS, FL) led the way for SWFL, going 1-2 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored, and also a stolen base.

Jordan Gurke (2017, Cypress Lake HS, FL) also had two RBIs in the contest.

For the Pirates, Jonathan Arroyo (2015, Holy Cross HS, NY) went 2-3 with an RBI, one walk, and two runs scored. John Callaghan (2016, East Meadow HS, NY) also contributed going 2-4 on the day with two RBIs.

Late Rally Propels Academia over Florida, 4-3

Behind by one run entering the sixth frame, Academia De Beisbol Carlos Guillen Oriente got the offensive boost it needed through a go-ahead, two-run home run by Carlos Centero, a hit that propelled his team to a 4-3 victory over Florida Baseball Heaven Angels White Friday afternoon.

Using a toe-tap trigger and good bat speed, Centero's game-winning home run cleared the left center field fences. Centero uses a slightly open stance at the plate, and shows power potential via his short, compact swing.

Justin Farmer (2017, Riverview, FL) flashed his own power at the plate for Florida Baseball, homering on a line drive to left center using his swing that employs good lift and bat head speed. Farmer recorded a total of 2 RBI in the game.

Diaz Holds down Florida for 4-2 Bombers Win

SWFL Bombers Select starting pitcher Luis Diaz (2016, Golden Gate, FL) allowed two runs (one earned) to cross home in his team's opening game Friday afternoon at the WWBA 16U East Memorial Tournament, helping his team to a 4-2 victory over Florida Baseball Heaven Angels Gray.

Diaz also struck out seven compared to two walks, and posted a 65.9% strike rate over his 91 pitches thrown in the outing.

Bombers lead-off hitter Jeff Pelletier (2017, Pelmetto Ridge, FL) led the way offensively in the victory, going 1-3 with a triple and run scored. Christian Neyra (2016, Golden Gate, FL) followed suit with a triple of his own for SWFL and a run scored.

Elite Squad 16U Pitching Key in 7-3 Victory

Using four pitchers who combined to allow just one earned run to cross home, Elite Squad 16U Slugger bested Tampa Threshers by a 7-3 mark Friday afternoon at the 2014 WWBA East Memorial Day Tournament.

Jordan Hill (2016, Coral Springs Christian Academy, FL), Jagger McCoy (2016, Boca Raton Community, FL), Nick Manocchio (2016, University School of Nova Sout, FL) and Mark Bejar (2016, Pembroke Pines Charter, FL) conceded just one hit to Tampa in the outing, helping to set up Elite Squad's offense in the meantime.

Middle infielder Alex Erro (2016, Gulliver Schools, FL) went 1-2 in the game offensively for Elite Squad, tallying an RBI, a walk and two runs scored. Erro was quick in the field defensively, using a good first step to his advantage up the middle.

Oleary, Fonseca Blank Florida for 7-0 Cape Win

Cape Thunder defeated Florida Pokers Underclass Carolina by a 7-0 mark Friday afternoon at the WWBA 16U East Memorial Day Tournament at Cape Coral Sports Complex.

Thunder starting pitcher and Phoenix College commit Andres Fonseca (2016, Ida Baker, FL) threw four innings in the game, recording five strikeouts, two walks and conceded just one hit. His athletic, medium frame produced a smooth delivery and long arm action on the mound, helping him produce three ground outs and generate a 69.7% strike rate for the day with a fastball sitting consistently between 75-78 MPH (and topping out at 80 MPH).

Gianni Williams (2016, Ida Baker, FL) led the day offensively for Cape Thunder, going 1-2 at the plate with 2 RBI, a run scored and drawing two walks. Hunter Oleary (2015, Ida Baker, FL) chipped in with a game-high two runs scored, thanks to a 1-3 performance at the plate.

Big Second Inning Lifts Elite Squad TPX to 8-0 win

Elite Squad 16U TPX used seven runs in the second inning to build an early lead against South Florida Huskies 16U, an early advantage that eventually led to a 8-0 victory Friday afternoon for Elite Squad at the 2014 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Tournament.

Aram Leighton (2016, Pine Crest, FL) led the way for TPX with a 3-3 day at the dish in the contest, piling up a game-high five total bases (2 2B, 1B) while knocking in two runs and scoring one of his own. Ian McEacheran (2016, IMG Academy, FL) logged three innings without conceding a hit or an earned run as TPX's starting pitcher, striking out two batters with his fastball that sat at 82 MPH with a maximum velocity of 85 MPH.

Swanson Stymies Heaven Angels Gold in 4-2 win

FTB Sarasota defeated Florida Baseball Heaven Angels Gold by a 4-2 mark Friday afternoon at the 16U WWBA East Memorial Day Classic.

Sarasota starting pitcher Cooper Swanson (2016, Bishop Verot, FL) set the tone early, allowing one unearned run to cross home on one hit, including four strikeouts, one walk and a 64.4% strike rate over 4.0 innings of work. Swanson utilized his over-the-top arm angle to sit between 81-82 MPH with his fastball in the outing, and maxed out at 84 MPH with the pitch.

Jordan Mills (2016, Kathleen Senior, FL) went 0-2 with a walk in the game, scoring both runs for the Heaven Angels, while Andrew Fritsch (2016, Kathleen Senior, FL) and Nick Palestrini (2016, Plant City, FL) each chipped in with a single in two at bats.
