Navy got the scoring started thanks to the top of their order, with Edilson Alvarez (2030 SS, Boca Raton, FL) and Simon Shaham (2030 SS, New York, NY) each tallying hits and a run scored in the first. Alvarez went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and a pair of runs scored, and Shaham went 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs.
Landen Brown (2030 OF, Savannah, GA) also contributed a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate for Navy, with an RBI and a run scored.
Grayson Liddle (2030 C, Washington, DC) set the tone on the mound for Navy, pounding ten strikes in 11 pitches, which was all he needed to strike out the side in his one inning of work on the bump. Liddle topped out at 82 and flashed an advanced overhand breaking ball in the upper 60s.
Orange fought back with a four-run fourth inning thanks to five hits in a row that included a Jacob Ledet (2030 C, Breaux Bridge, LA) double and back-to-back triples from Jose Jimenez (2030 SS, Granbury, TX) and Norrie O’Bannon (2030 OF/RHP, Haymarket, VA).
Orange’s Jacob Miller (2030 RHP, Temecula, CA) kept the Navy bats at bay in the middle innings, topping at 80mph with his fastball. Miller also flashed plus off-speed as well, with an overhand breaking ball and a changeup both clocking in just under 70mph. Miller toted a 72% strike rate on the day and struck out seven, allowing two hits in three scoreless frames.
