2024 High School All State Select Championship (2027-2028 Grads) (10/19/2024 - 10/20/2024)

14 - California vs. 19- Deep South
10/21/2024 5:30:54 PM

Casey Prieto (2027 RHP, Paso Robles, CA) showed a simple/repeatable operation in his two innings of work where he struck out five. Ran it up to 87 with the FB he located well and mixed in both a SL and CB that had distinct shape. His CB was a bigger slurvy breaker he landed in-zone and his SL was sharp and depthy that induced some chase.

Logan Mull (2027 C, San Jose, CA) had himself a nice two-strike knock. It was on an outside FB he stayed on well and drove back up the box. Shows a short-to-long bat path through the zone that maintains good length through the middle.

Weston Todd (2028 3B, Athens, AL) threw three quality innings where he struck out five. Showed a loose/quick arm that ran his FB up to 85, exhibiting some natural running action and at times sink. Also showed strong feel for a quality low 70s SL.

Daniel Hornyak (2028 1B, San Diego, CA) struck out five in his two shutout innings of work. Stands out immediately with his 6-foot-8, 175 pound frame. FB velo fluctuated a bit but he ran it up to 80 early and mixed in an effective low 70s breaker.

Micah Mecucci (2028 OF, San Marcos, CA) had two hard pullside LD doubles in this game. His foot gets down early and he delivers the barrel on a level path through the zone with some out front intent.

Joab Bolton (2028 C, Murrayville, GA) drove one deep into the left-center gap for an opposite field double. Some good intent to the swing where his hands work tight/fast in delivering the barrel and on this one they stayed inside it well.

Cooper McCoy (2028 3B, Sumrall, MS) sat back well on a hanging breaking ball and lined it into the right-center gap for a double. Showed a clean lower-half move with a good kickback which allowed room for his hands/barrel to work.
