Florida

Florida District tournaments began this week and the results were a mixed bag with ten of the top twenty five seeing their season come to an end with a loss. Tampa Jesuit, Olympia, American Heritage, Archbishop McCarthy and Columbus remain the top five with red hot Nova moving in at No. 6.

Four new teams enter, all of whom won district championship this week. No. 14 Dwyer, No. 15 Coral Springs, and No. 16 Killian.

Great Plains

No. 1 Cherry Creek (CO) continued to roll, with a 3-0 week where the Bruins outscored their opponents by a combined score of 34-6, with two of those wins coming against teams with a winning record.

The biggest statement of the week comes from Howell Central (MO), who knocked off the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the region last week (Vianney and Francis Howell). The Spartans have now won eight straight and 10 of their last 11, jumping into the rankings at No. 4 this week.

Christian Brothers College (MO) moved into the top 10 (up six spots from No. 15) thanks to a big 3-0 week of their own that included a win over (then No. 6) St. Louis University (MO).

No. 14 Burnsville (MN) improved to 7-0 on the season, becoming the new top team from Minnesota after Eden Prairie dropped their first game of the season to fall to No. 15.

New additions this week include: No. 4 Howell Central (MO), No. 21 Highlands Ranch (CO), No. 22 Red Wing (MN) and No. 23 Olathe South (KS).

Mid-Atlantic

Providence (NC), Lexington (SC), Western Branch (VA) remain the top teams in their respective states and the top three teams in the Mid-Atlantic region. Four Virginia teams place in the top ten, James River at No. 6, Northside at No. 7, and Lake Braddock at No.10.

Hurricane (WV) enters the rankings for the first time and sit at No. 25.

Midwest

Undefeated Mt. Carmel (IL) is the new top team in the region. They are followed by Lake Central (IN), Zionsville (IN), St. Laurence (IL), and Cathedral (IN).

Three new teams join the ranks, No. 23 Mundelein (IL), No. 24 Niles West (IL), and No. 25 Bowling Green (KY).

Northeast

Another wild week in the Northeast region as the season is in full swing. Salisbury Prep (CT), Norwin (PA) and Seton Hall Prep (NJ) remain the top three and they are followed by No. 4 Red Bank (NJ) and No. 5 Grand Street Campus (NY).

Six new teams enter the rankings: No. 13 St. Joseph-by-the-Sea (NY), Bethel Park (PA), St. John’s Prep (MA), St. Joseph (NJ), No. 20 St. Sebastian’s (MA), and No. 22 Poly Prep (NY).

Northwest

Kentwood (WA) rolls along to 17-0 to maintain the top spot in the region. Lake Stevens (WA) sits just a game back at 16-1, moving up to No. 2 this week.

Previous No. 2 Westview (OR) drops a couple of spots to No. 4 following a 1-2 week, with a tough loss to No. 5 Portland Jesuit (though the Wildcats still took the series 2-1). Roseburg (OR) becomes the top ranked team in the state of Oregon for now at No. 3 thanks to a 17-1 start to the season.

No. 14 Puyallup moves up four spots this week after going 3-0, they are a young team that wasn’t expected to contend until next season, but they are showing that they may be ready for a deep run this season with a 17-2 start to the season.

The new addition this week is: No. 25 Hanford (WA).

Pacific

Harvard-Westlake continues to hang onto the top spot by a narrow margin, in spite of a highly impressive victory by No. 2 Mater Dei over then No. 4 Orange Lutheran in a 1-0 battle. The two will meet again in a rematch tonight with first place in the Trinity League on the line.

Cathedral Catholic has now won nine straight and 15 of the past 16 to move up three spots coming in at No. 4. Fellow San Diego County power El Capitan moves up a couple of spots to No. 10 after a 3-0 week.

New additions this week include: No. 13 Agoura, No. 22 Chatsworth, No. 24 Long Beach Poly and No. 25 Sacramento Jesuit.

Also, be sure to keep an eye on Waiakea (HI) who finished the regular season 15-0 and enters district play this weekend as the No. 1 ranked team in Hawaii.

Southeast

Columbus (GA) and Parkview (GA) each suffered defeats during the week but remain the top two teams. They are joined in the top five by Pelham (AL), Gainesville (GA), and Farragut (TN).

Playoffs are underway in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana with Georgia playoffs just around the corner.

Six new teams enter: No. 19 Brookwood (GA), No. 20 Mill Creek (GA), No. 21 Hoover (AL), No. 22 Zachary (LA), No. 23 Collierville (TN), and No. 25 El Dorado (AR).

Southwest

Bishop Gorman remains undefeated in the state of Nevada with one week remaining in the regular season, and they continue to hold onto the top spot as they have all season long. After that there was a shakeup this week throughout the region.

Arizona’s regular season has concluded with the state playoffs set to get underway this weekend, which will bring further movement. The top two ranked teams in the state Brophy Prep and Chaparral split a two-game set this week while winning their remaining games, that combined with a surprise loss by Bingham (UT) allowed each of the top three ranked Arizona teams to slide up a spot (Hamilton also moves up) this week to spots 3-5 respectively.

The case for the top team in the state of New Mexico became even less clear this week when the first and third ranked teams in the state (and top two in 5A) matched up for a two-game set, with La Cueva and Sandia splitting the series and each winning their other game last week. Meanwhile the top team in 4A, Piedra Vista, went 3-0 to improve to 28-4 on the season. Each of these three teams can make a viable case for the top spot, though at this point in time the edge appears to remain with two time defending 5A champion La Cueva, who comes in at No. 8 this week. Piedra Vista moves up to No. 9 and Sandia at No. 11.

New additions this week include: No. 23 Pinnacle (AZ), No. 24 O’Connor (AZ) and No. 25 Boulder Creek (AZ).

Texahoma

After knocking off previous No. 1 CC Carroll (TX) in a head to head matchup, Calallen (TX) trades places with the Tigers, moving up to the No. 1 spot with a 28-1 record this season.

The Woodlands (TX) has run their win streak up to 10 games now after shutting out No. 19 College Park (TX) 7-0 in their only game this week, allowing the 20-3 Highlanders to climb to No. 3 after yet another strong regular season. No. 5 Seven Lakes (TX) suffered their third defeat of the season, getting shut out by No. 10 Spring Branch Memorial (TX).

Owasso (OK) had an opportunity to reclaim the top ranking in the state of Oklahoma this week after No. 8 Broken Arrow (OK) lost, but the Rams went 2-1 on the week, allowing the Tigers to maintain the top spot for another week, with Owasso coming in at No. 9. The other two Oklahoma representatives are No. 16 Bishop Kelley and No. 17 Edmond Santa Fe, who is riding a nine game winning streak.

New additions this week include: No. 11 Arlington Martin (TX) and No. 24 Colleyville Heritage (TX).
