16u BCS Scout Notes: Day 1

Kase Nickerson (2028, Branford, FL) put together a standout day at the plate for day 1 of BCS. Hit 3 home runs and a double over 2 games and 6 at-bats. Easily the top offensive performance on the day. Ability to consistently get a swing with intent on the baseball stands out. Jumped onto the radar as a prospect to watch today.
 
Chase Tucholski (2028, Quakertown, PA) had a standout first game at BCS on Thursday. Had 2 hits including a home run and 5 RBI. A physical right-handed hitter with the strength to drive the baseball out to all fields. Hit the home run over the 385 sign in left centerfield. There’s definite future run producing traits here. Will be a player to watch for the rest of the week. 
 
Carter Reis (2028, Orlando, FL) showed intriguing arm talent from the left side in a relief outing. Was up to 88 with the fastball that had burst out of the hand. Spun a curveball with vertical depth to keep hitters off balance. An athletic and projectable build on the mound. Chance to become an impact arm at the next level. 

Dominic Muccia (2027, Huntington Station, NY) finished the day 6-for-6 with 4 runs scored. A left handed hitter with standout bat to ball skills. Showed the ability to control the zone, recognize pitches and make quality contact at a high rate today. Top of the order type bat that can help create run scoring opportunities.

Jackson Silvers (’28 RHP, John M. Morehead HS, N.C.) showcased one of the louder arms of the morning, running his fastball up to 90 mph while pairing it with a sharp mid-70s curveball. The 6-foot, 183-pound right-hander consistently worked ahead in the count, filled the strike zone, and showed confidence in both offerings throughout his outing. Silvers generated quality strikes with both pitches and flashed the type of power arsenal and command that make him an intriguing uncommitted arm to follow in the 2028 class.

Jordan Pinkerton (’28 LHP, Vanguard HS, Fla.) showcased why he is regarded as one of the top left-handers in the 2028 class, running his fastball up to 86 mph while showing advanced feel for a complete arsenal. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound southpaw commanded the strike zone with confidence, mixing all of his pitches effectively and pairing his fastball with a low-70s slider that generated quality swings. Currently ranked No. 52 among LHPs nationally and No. 11 among Florida LHPs, Pinkerton continues to impress with his pitchability, command, and ability to sequence multiple offerings.

’28 RHP Henry Earl (Charlotte Catholic, NC) worked 85-86 mph with a simple, repeatable operation and a high leg kick that helped him get down the mound efficiently. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-hander showed the ability to locate his fastball while also mixing and commanding his offspeed offerings effectively throughout the outing. Earl is currently ranked No. 367 nationally among RHPs and No. 16 among North Carolina RHPs. The uncommitted arm displayed solid strike-throwing ability and an efficient, controlled delivery. 

Peter Karas (’28 RHP, Our Lady of Lourdes, N.Y.) showed an impressive blend of size, athleticism, and projection, running his fastball up to 86 mph through his first two innings. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-hander worked confidently with each offering, using his long frame and reach to create extension down the mound. Karas also showed feel for a slider with quality depth, giving him a strong secondary pitch to pair with the fastball. Currently ranked No. 206 among RHPs nationally and No. 8 among New York RHPs, the uncommitted arm has the physicality and remaining projection to continue adding velocity.

Callan Findeisen (’28 RHP, Dripping Springs, Texas) filled the strike zone throughout his outing, sitting in the low-80s with a fastball that showed quality life. The 6-foot-1, 174-pound right-hander consistently landed his vertical breaking ball for strikes, showing confidence to throw it in any count. Findeisen commanded both pitches well, attacking hitters in the zone while mixing speeds effectively. The uncommitted arm showed solid feel for pitching and the ability to generate consistent strikes with a clean two-pitch mix.

Marcus Johnson (’27 RHP, Huntington, Texas) made an impressive relief appearance, running his fastball up to 86 mph while attacking hitters with confidence. The 6-foot, 200-pound right-hander paired his lively fastball with an above-average curveball, showing quality depth and the ability to miss barrels. Johnson worked aggressively in the zone and flashed the traits of a physical, projectable arm with plenty of upside. The uncommitted right-hander showed a strong two-pitch mix and the makings of a high-follow prospect.

Cameron Nixon (’28 RHP, Middleburg, Fla.) showed an impressive blend of stuff and projection, running his fastball up to 88 mph while working efficiently down the mound. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-hander featured a fastball with quality life and complemented it with a mid-70s slider and effective off-speed feel to keep hitters off balance. Nixon attacked the zone with confidence and flashed the traits of a projectable young arm with plenty of upside. The uncommitted right-hander is one to continue following.

2028 MIF Jackson Cap (NC) was one of the biggest offensive performers of the day, following up a triple with a no-doubt home run in his next at-bat. The compact infielder features an advanced, repeatable swing with quick hands and excellent barrel control, consistently staying on plane through the zone. Cap impacts the baseball with authority to all fields, and the combination of feel to hit and emerging power makes him one of the more intriguing bats in the 2028 class. 

2028 OF Chase Potter (FL) showcased his offensive upside by driving a one-hop shot to center field for a triple. The No. 6-ranked outfielder in Florida displays present strength, advanced barrel control, and an efficient swing that produces loud contact. Potter stays under control throughout the operation and consistently impacts the baseball, making him one of the more polished bats in the 2028 class. 

2028 SS Preston Hamelynck (FL) continued to prove why he’s one of the premier prospects in Florida, launching a towering three-run home run deep over the left-field fence. The lean, athletic shortstop creates easy bat speed with a fluid operation and plenty of leverage through impact. There’s already present power in the profile, and as he continues to add strength, the offensive ceiling only continues to rise. 

2028 SS Nolan Harper (NC) barreled a pitch for a ground-rule double, showing a smooth, controlled swing with plenty of feel for the barrel. The lean-framed infielder stays through the baseball well and creates quality carry off the bat. With added physical strength, there’s legitimate projection for more impact and future over-the-fence power. 

2028 3B Nicholas Donaldson (NC) put together another productive performance, finishing 2-for-3 while ripping a line-drive triple into the gap. Donaldson generates impressive torque with strong lower-half usage, producing loud contact and present power to all fields. The physicality and impact off the barrel continue to stand out, making him one of the more dangerous bats in the lineup. 

2029 LHP/OF Carson Nixon (NC) showed why he’s one of the top two-way prospects in the 2029 class, making an impact on both sides of the ball. At the plate, he drove in two runs with a hard single through the right side, staying balanced with a simple operation and advanced feel for the barrel. On the mound, the left-hander worked 82-84 mph with a low-70s 12-6 curveball, punching out two in the opening frame. The athleticism, clean delivery, and ability to contribute both offensively and on the mound make Nixon an intriguing follow moving forward. 

2028 RHP/3B Carson Baughman (FL) continued to flash intriguing two-way upside, running the fastball up to 87 mph while mixing in a slow, downer 12-to-6 curveball that consistently disrupted hitters’ timing. The No. 11-ranked third baseman in Florida has an athletic, repeatable delivery with clean arm action and creates quality life through the zone. The combination of present velocity, feel for a secondary offering, and overall athleticism gives Baughman plenty of projection on the mound while maintaining his value as a two-way prospect.

Will Vanderheyden (2028, Ofallen, IL) turned in a dominant performance on the mound today, putting together an electric outing where he piled up 13 strikeouts while allowing just 2 hits over 5.2 innings pitched. Utilizing a fluid delivery, the right-hander effectively attacked hitters with an 81-86 mph fastball that showed good life in the zone. He complemented his heater with a high-spin curveball at 68-72 mph that boasted sharp vertical depth, as well as a straight mid-70s changeup that faded late to keep lefties off-balance and out of rhythm. His advanced feel for pitch sequencing and ability to set up hitters yielded swing-and-miss results in virtually every count. While lowering his walk total will be a primary focus as he refines his command and repeats his release point more consistently, his sheer bat-missing capability is undeniable. With a legitimate three-pitch mix featuring real vertical depth on his breaking ball, he projects as an intriguing, strikeout-heavy arm with upside as he continues to polish his strike-throwing ability. 

Tyler Camastro (2028, Farmingdale, NY) put his multi-positional athleticism and physical projectability on display, validating his standing as the 64th-ranked first baseman in the nation. Carrying a strong, physical 6'1", 215-pound frame, he possesses the positional versatility to handle both corner infield spots comfortably. Beyond his ability to play both corner infield spots, he showcased intriguing two-way value by hopping on the bump and filling up the strike zone with a legitimate mix. The right-hander worked comfortably in the 81-83 mph range while running his fastball up to 85 mph with life to it, pairing it with a sharp curveball that showed good depth to keep hitters off balance. Showing clean arm action and a steady competitive demeanor on the mound, his combination of physical size, defensive flexibility across both corners, and high-80s arm strength makes him a well-rounded athlete with upside as he continues to develop. 

Liam Russell (2028, Melbourne, FL) made an immediate impact in his first and only game of the tournament today, backing up his reputation as the 118th-ranked catcher in the nation. At the plate, he put together a highly polished performance, going 1-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBIs. He showcased bat speed and a clean, repeatable stroke, allowing him to stay inside the baseball and turn on pitches with authority. His quick trigger in the box make him a constant threat to drive the ball for extra bases. Beyond his performance at the dish and behind the plate, he brings versatility with his ability to slide out and play in the outfield. What truly sets him apart for the position is his plus speed—evidenced by a 6.83 60-yard dash and an explosive 1.57 10-yard split clocked in 2025—which is a rare tool for a backstop that translates into legitimate range in the outfield as well as a real threat on the base paths. With his combination of bat speed, power and speed, he offers an exceptionally well-rounded and high-upside profile. 

Tyler Hummel (2028, San Antonio, TX) put his barrel feel on display this morning, driving an RBI double on a crisp line to left field. At the plate, he employs a simple, smooth approach that minimizes unnecessary movement and keeps his swing quiet through load. He utilizes a controlled little leg kick to trigger his hip rotation and generate effortless power, allowing him to impact the baseball with authority without sacrificing balance. His swing mechanics highlight hand speed and good barrel control, enabling him to manipulate his hands real well to meet the ball out front and pull it with leverage. By combining a clean, repeatable load with upper-body quickness, he consistently finds the sweet spot and drives run-producing hits into the gaps. His simple mechanics, loose hands, and natural power-generating leg kick point toward a highly sustainable, line-drive offensive profile with real gap-to-gap utility.
