17U National Elite Heads to Hoover

Another week, another big tournament makes its way to Hoover. 

This week, 104 of the nation’s top 17U teams will make their way to Hoover for the 2026 Perfect Game 17U National Elite Championship. 



Featuring nationally ranked teams, Division I commits, and many of the country’s top 2027 players, the tournament promises another week of elite competition as teams battle for one of the biggest championships of the summer. 

With many players already committed to some of the nation’s top college programs, every game in Hoover this week offers a glimpse into the future of college baseball. 

Now entering its eighth year, the National Elite Championship continues to bring in the nation’s best. Past champions include Team Elite Scout Team, Canes National, USA Prime National, Scorpions/Giants Scout Team, 5 Star Performance National, Knights Knation Scout Team, and defending champion 643 DP Cougars 17U, who will return to Hoover looking to defend their organization’s title. 

The field is loaded from top to bottom, led by East Cobb Astros 17U, ranked No. 2 nationally. They will be joined by several other nationally ranked teams, including Florida Burn 2027 Scout (No. 5), 5 Star Mafia 17U Black (No. 6), SBA Bolts National 2027 (No. 10), Excel Blue Wave National (No. 11), eXposure 17U National (No. 13), Stars Marucci 2027 (No. 16), and Wildcatters National 2027 (No. 19). With so many powerhouse organizations in one place, every game has the potential to feel like a championship matchup. 

Among the players to watch is Dariel Carrion, the nation’s No. 18 overall player and top-ranked catcher in the 2027 class. Committed to Florida State, Carrion has developed into one of the nation’s premier catchers, pairing advanced receiving skills and elite arm strength with a consistent right-handed bat that continues to produce against top competition. 

Virginia Tech commit Nico Moritz-Toledo enters the week as another dynamic player. The speedy outfielder has earned a reputation as one of the fastest players in the class, using his elite athleticism to impact the game both offensively and defensively. 

Another Virginia standout is Christian Gomez. Ranked No. 21 overall nationally and committed to North Carolina, Gomez has become one of the top left-handed hitters in the nation after an impressive showing on the national showcase circuit. 

Another player to keep an eye on is Harry Chubb Jones Jr., one of the tournament’s most versatile athletes. The Alabama commit possess impact tool on both sides of the ball, capable of stealing the spotlight at shortstop while also touching the mid-90s on the mound. His rare combination of athleticism and projectability makes him one of the most exciting players in the field. 

Texas commit Lubin Rincon brings another impressive set of skills to Hoover. The left-handed hitting shortstop has impressed viewers of the game with his smooth defensive actions and advanced bat speed, making him one of the top infielders in the 2027 class.

On the mound, Cole Cinnamond makes himself known amongst the impressive group of pitchers in this tournament. The Clemson commit has already reached 93 mph with a quality breaking ball and continues to establish himself as one of the top left-handed pitchers in the nation.
 
As newer faces will be showcasing their skills in Hoover, familiar ones will be making their return this summer. 
EBC 17U-Griggs returns to Hoover after another successful summer led by standout right-hander Drew Davis and one of the nation’s most talented rosters. Fans who have followed the team’s impressive run this summer season will have another opportunity to watch one of the nation’s top teams compete in one of Perfect Game’s biggest tournaments. 

With nationally ranked teams, future Division I stars, and some of the most highly regarded prospects in the country all competing under one roof, another memorable week of baseball awaits in Hoover.

Year in and year out when the best young talent from across the country is packed into one national-level event the arms tend to win the week. That feels especially true in today’s amateur game where velocity, pitch design and high-level training in general are being introduced earlier than ever, allowing young pitchers to develop impactful stuff at a faster rate than younger hitters can consistently catch up to it.
