Sylas Smith is a 2031 SS/RHP/3B with a 5-8 185 lb. frame from Shreveport, LA who attends Loyola College Prep. Medium current frame with solid musculature and time to continue to refine. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.98 seconds. Primary position infielder, with feel for angles and emerging overall mobility. Secures the ball with confident glove work that will soften with time and showed the ability to change arm slots based on the demands of the play. Accurate feeds across the diamond ups to 78 mph with accuracy. Secondary RHP, competing well in the zone and working from a classic 3/4 arm angle. Heavy fastball up to 78 mph locating it in all four quadrants of the zone. Also featured a tight little slider in the low-70s that he landed for strikes. Impressively pounding the strike zone and attacks. RHH with an inline stance and clean handset producing a short stroke to the ball. Present bat speed with a bit of a steep path at times. All fields approach and when on plane the ball go off the barrel nicely. All sorts of intrigue to his skillset and a good follow overall.
