2022 West Coast Prospect Showcase
Calvin Shaw is a 2023 RHP/OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends St. Augustin. Large, athletic frame with good projectable strength left in store. Primary right-handed pitcher, good presence on the mound from the stretch with a tall-and-fall delivery. Works well down the slope and the limbs work in the release, repeats it well. Fastball reached 87 mph and lived mid-80s with late arm-side run out of hand. Hard curveball with big 12-6 shape produced swings and misses. Potent mix that varies tempo and shape. Upside in store as he continues to fill out. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
