2026 PG Sunshine Atlantic Coast Showcase (National Showcases Qualifier)
Owen Shirey is a 2027 SS/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Providence Day. Recorded a 6.94 second sixty yard dash time. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Primary shortstop with softer glove work to the back hand with a low arm angle.. Gets through the ball well with mostly accurate throws and a strong arm recording throws up to 88 during defensive workouts. Also threw on the mound. The right-handed pitcher works from a hybrid windup from the first base side of the rubber into a small side-step and an around-the-belt leg lift and uses drop-and-drive back leg mechanics into a long, in-line stride down the mound. The hands separate into a shorter, tight takeaway before the arm comes through from a three- quarter angle. The fastball ran up to 83 with some arm-side run and worked well down in the zone. Paired it with a slider that had 11-5 shape and some two-plane break and more vertical depth. Flashed a change-up with some arm-side fade. Left-handed hitter starts from a wide base with in-line feet and a low handset with a low back elbow, utilizes a lift-and-replace trigger. Rotational lower half with good bat speed with some juice to the pull-side. Hit well during game action with two barrels. Exciting player with good upside. Great student. Named to the 2026 PG Sunshine Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect list.
