Walker McElwain is a 2027 3B/RHP, 1B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Alexandria, VA. Medium, square shouldered frame with some present strength and additional room to fill throughout. Primary third baseman, direct footwork moving to the ball and gets square behind it, hands work at the ball and will continue to refine moving forward, deliberate pace to actions, deeper funnel into a shorter arm action on throws across diamond. Fields it out front at first base, shows a fuller arm stroke, spins well off of the back on the turn, young actions. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, belt high leg lift and stays balanced over the rubber; works to a three-quarters release point with developing arm speed. Fastball topped out at 71 mph, simple and repeatable delivery, shows a curveball up to 62 mph. Beings with a stacked stance in the box with a high hand set and lower back elbow; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Hip coil at top of load, worked to the middle of the field and shows a feel for the barrel, bat speed will continue to develop with added strength, longer path through the zone and works on a linear plane. Repeats swing.
