Jimmy Janicki is a 2024 C/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-2 178 lb. frame from Downers Grove, IL who attends Downers Grove North. Large frame and lanky build with room to fill, good body for his age, projects well. Primary catcher with a low and quick transfer, gets the ball out fast and shows good hand speed. Steps outside to the batter's box with his footwork, could improve by taking a more direct foot path and staying in line with second base. Recorded a 2.01 second pop time at 74 mph. Some things to like and project on defensively. Compact stance to receive, shifts his weight well to center the pitch and beats the pitch to its spot, handled velocity in game situations. Right-handed hitter with an upright stance and high hand set. Quiet approach, limited hand load and a short stride, not much body movement going on. Short swing path with present bat speed, produced solid line drive contact and showed strong hands. Projects for loud impact potential as he adds additional strength to the frame. Great student.
