Luca Dickinson is a 2023 3B/RHP, 1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Pacifica, CA who attends St. Ignatius College Prep. Luca is a solidly built player with projectable ability that should only improve as he plays through his final three years of HS ball. In addition to his noticeable talent on the diamond, Luca is also a solid achiever in the classroom. He ran a 7.43 60 yard dash. A primary third baseman, Luca is noticeably powerful and strong. His footwork is measured and sure. He moves exceptionally well to his glove side. His 80 mph throwing velocity produces tosses that are consistently on the money. Luca is an exceptional HS third baseman who projects easily to the next level. Luca also took a turn on the mound. He has a big body and knows how to use it. Pitches exclusively from the stretch with a surprisingly compact operation. He works down the slope well. He uses a short takeaway with an extended finish and incorporates his lower half well. He repeats his entire operation consistently. He works off his 80-83 mph fastball that shows noticeable arm side run and heavy sink. It is a bowling ball. He also throws a 65 mph, 12/6 breaking curveball that has tight spin and late depth at the plate. His 67 mph slider is more of a hard sweeper that he can manipulate to both sides of the plate. His 66 mph change up looks like a winner. He throws the change with FB arm quickness and it tunnels out of that FB window, making it highly effective. He has the right idea on the mound, combined with the physical make-up to make a mark there. At the plate, Luca has a power hitter's approach. There is some length and steepness to his plane but he does a pretty good job of getting through contact with some force. He can strike the baseball when his timing is right. Lucas has the build and the physical tools to impact the next level at a couple of positions. His next three years at the HS level should see him make a big jump in his physicality and his play on the field.
