Matthew Thompson is a 2022 SS/3B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Wadsworth, OH who attends Wadsworth. Large frame with strong, athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.42 seconds. Hits from balanced set with relaxed set, coils well and shifts weight, swings hard with good barrel turn and lag, whole-field approach, creates lift, can drive the ball pull-side with authority, highly projectable hitting tools. Worked out in the infield, quality athleticism, surrounds the ball well, clean funnel out front, works through with balance, arm strength stands out, clocked up to 90 mph on throws across the diamond.
