Sammy Rubio is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Corona, CA who attends Centennial. Medium build, posted a 7.13 second time in the sixty yard dash. Approaches the ball well from the outfield. Long over the top arm action that finds solid carry when on top of the baseball. Good accuracy to all bags and follows throws on line. Not afraid to attack the baseball. On the mound, uses a big tall leg lift and has a high three-quarters slot. Inconsistent with direction down the mound but creates some deception. Some start and stop actions throughout his motion. Fastball sits 73-to-77 mph with occasional arm side run. Breaking ball has a slurvy low 11-to-5 feel to it that flashes some tight spin at times. Shows ability to throw it as a get me over and as a kill pitch. At the plate, stays balanced throughout his swing. Hands coil at load. Works hands down through the zone well and consistently finds barrel. Middle of the field approach with consistent backspin.
