John Macdonald is a 2022 LHP/1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Ola. Large and strong frame with present strength to his build. Ran a 7.78 second 60 yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, sets up in the middle of the rubber, full windup with deliberate tempo, starts with a small side step to gather, loose arm action at take back up to a 3/4 arm action release, could work on getting out over his front side more for additional command to the glove side. Fastball topped out at 84 mph with heavy life to armside often, three pitch mix with a 1-7 curveball and good depth, changeup is mostly straight with occasional fading action similar to fastball, sells both secondaries well and throws strikes. Outstanding student.
