Collin Born is a 2023 C/3B/MIF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Raleigh, NC who attends Cardinal Gibbons. High-waisted, slenderly build athletic with some twitch in his actions, tons of strength remaining to be added throughout frame. 7.54-second sixty time. Primary catcher, square, low set up. Quick out of the crouch with a short, compact arm stroke. Accurate throws on the right side of the bag, up to 72 mph. Recorded a best pop time of 2.10-seconds. Moves well behind the plate displaying high baseball IQ during game play. Secondary infielder, quick first step, playing through the ball well. Deep fielding funnel, showcasing present arm strength across the diamond, up to 80 mph. Switch-hitter, sets up with an open, narrow stance from both sides. From the left-side, line-drive swing plane, hasting his hands away from his body slightly. Displayed some feel for the barrel as he works short through the zone. Present quickness in his hands. From the right-side, remained consistent with his swing, line-drive stroke, showing ability to lift through the middle-of-the-field. Better feel for barrel from the right-side with more bat speed. Power potential will improve as he adds strength to frame. Excellent student.
