2022 Carolina Top Prospect Games
Landon King is a 2026 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Belmont, NC who attends Combine Academy. Long and lean frame with good twitch and tons of time to add overall strength and physicality. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.26 seconds. Primary LHP, working primarily from the stretch and on the 3B side of the rubber. Inline start and tilts upper body towards 3B line as he reaches top of balance. Gets into his back leg really well as he begins transition down the mound. Breaks hands at the waist and gets a bit of hesitation initially before working through his low-3/4 arm angle. Tends to work a bit side to side rotationally but when he stays behind the ball he has explosive life on his pitches. FB with sinking action to the arm side peaked at 84 mph with spin in the 1,800's. SL in the low-70's with solid shape and tight spin when extended. CH had tumbling action with low spin in the mid-70's. All pitches created significant swing and miss. Secondary 1B, working his glove out front nicely, using deep funnel to transition. Good footwork around the bag and threw from appropriate multi-slots when necessary. LHH working from an even stance and starting hands in a lower set and using a very quiet load. Displayed good hand quickness and worked to the oppo gap early in his round. Showed some loft to the pull side later in the round, displaying projection for future power. Performed well in game action with the stick. Young and very athletic with legitimate two-way potential which will be an interesting follow. Tremendous student.
