Carl Schmidt is a 2023 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Petaluma, CA who attends Marin Catholic. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 6.87 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well to the ball with quickness to feet, stays low on the approach, sound actions to the backhand and takes good angles, plays with flair and twitch to actions and shows a solid arm across the diamond. Moves well to and through the ball in the outfield, works through it nicely and shows lateral twitch, solid arm strength and carry on throws to the intended base. Right-handed hitter, begins with an open and spread stance in the box. Gets on plane well with swing and shows solid above average bat speed at present with quickness to hands. Shows nice power to pull side, clean path overall and keeps the barrel in the zone for a good bit while generating whip to the point of contact. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Texas A&M. Named to the 2022 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
