Alejandro Espinoza is a 2021 RHP/OF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Lake Forest, CA who attends El Toro. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a short rock step to small leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and works in line with lower half while driving to the plate. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly generating some downhill plane with run to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a breaking ball offering that showed 12/6 shape. Breaking ball created tight spin with late depth in the mid 60's. Also utilized a changeup offering that flashed some sink in the upper 60's. Displayed good feel for all three offering and effectively changed speeds while on the mound. Also worked out defensively from the outfield and infield. From the outfield showed compact strides while working to the baseball. Funnels off to side and showed clean glove actions through transfer. Throws produced some on lime carry to the bag topping at 80 miles per hour. From the infield utilized similar compact footwork while working to the baseball. Fields the baseball out front and worked through exchange with loose actions. Released from a lower three-quarters slot generating uphill carry to the bag at 73 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an open stance an high leg lift trigger. Worked to baseball with rotational lower half actions. Created some coil with top half at load and employed a line drive barrel plane through extension. Displayed developing feel for the barrel while working to the middle of the field. Flashed the hand speed to turn the barrel to contact and work to pull side as well. Excellent student.
