Mac Briggs is a 2019 SS/IF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Costa Mesa, CA who attends Newport Harbor HS. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to grow and develop moving forward. Ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well to the ball and gets low behind it, deliberate actions and picks the backhand well, moved well up the middle and shows comfort dropping arm slot on throws, softness to glove and shows carry across the diamond on throws. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Utilizes a top tap trigger and gets closed and on line moving into contact. Full swing path through the zone, creates leverage and shows strength when squared and on time with hands. Swings with intent and occasionally gets under the ball, full finish through the point of contact.
