Joseph Montalvo is a 2021 RHP/MIF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Kissimmee, FL who attends Central Pointe Christian. Recorded a 7.18 second 60 yard dash time. Long and slender frame with plenty of room to fill. Primary right-handed pitcher with slow wind up that explodes at release. Shows a loose and whippy arm action and comes from a three quarters slot, lands online with good extension to the plate. Is poised and focused on the mound, did a fantastic job of mixing speeds and throwing to both sides of the plate. Low effort and easy thrower with great command, projects well on the mound moving forward. Throws a sharp 11-5 breaker with good depth and action. Spots up and locates with each pitch, the fastball shows late arm side life. Secondary middle infielder with a whippy arm and a quick transfer and release. Works through the ball well and shows soft hands and a clean gather. Fluid actions overall with the present skills to play the infield at a high level. Switch hitter with a wide base and low hand set. Limited load and weight transfer, shows good balance and quick hands. Pull side approach on both sides, low effort operation overall, found barrels when going pull side. Great student. Eastern Florida State commit.
