Jose Vargas is a 2022 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B, OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from League City, TX who attends Clear Springs HS. Recorded a 6.79 second 60-yard dash time. Lean athletic frame with some quick twitch muscle and room to fill out. Primary shortstop with good footwork and soft, clean hands. Solid actions and athleticism with arm strength recorded up to 81 mph. Arm strength plays from secondary position of the outfield. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a three-quarters arm slot and creates angle on the fastball. Good arm side run on the fastball and mixed in a curveball with shape and projection. Lefthanded hitter who keeps his hands back and loaded with a good launch angle. Loose swing and covers the plate well. Good bat speed and creates big leverage to the pull side. Good strength off the barrel and can work to the pull side well. Good student. Named to the Sunshine South TP List.
