2017 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Michael Edwards is a 2020 3B/1B/2B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Berryville, VA who attends Clarke County HS. Medium frame with slender build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.87 seconds. Hits from narrow stance with high hand set, shifts weight well into swing and shows pull side approach with line drive swing plane, under control throughout, repeats swing well, projects with more strength. Worked out in the infield, waits back on the ball, stiffness to hands out front, does field cleanly, can work through the ball at times, clocked up to 70 mph across. Also pitched, draws arm straight back without much elbow flex, arches back into higher posture without engaging back hip, incomplete rotation through delivery, fastball worked 67-71 mph with slight cut due to pulling across release. Showed curveball in upper-50's with solid depth, showed ability to work fastball to both sides at times. Excellent student.
