Austin Hutchison is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Francis W. Parker HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Right handed pitcher with a simple leg lift delivery. Smooth paced lower half actions while driving on line to targer. Quick, loose three-quarters arm slot at release. Creates good arm extension through finish. Fastball topped at 80 mph showing good arm side life and ability to get under righties hands. Curveball had 10/4 shape with good spin and sharp downward depth. Commands the zone with both pitches. Will pitch backwards at times showing first pitch curveball. Consistently missed barrels and inducing soft ground ball contact. Right handed hitter with a tall, straight stance and high back elbow set. Swings with intent while looking to separate to lift the baseball to the gaps. Consistently squared contact to the pull side gap showing good jump off the barrel at times. Good plate presence in game play while flashing the ability to drive the baseball to the opposite field gap as well. Also worked out defensively form the outfield showing smooth paced actions while closing on the baseball. Clean glove skills while working through exchange into throw. Deep arm stab back at separation and releases with a long, loose arm action through finish. Throws produce good carry with accuracy to the bag, topped at 83 mph. Good student as well.
