Grant Smith is a RHP/3B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Highland, MI who attends Lakeland HS. Slender young build, looks like a middle infielder on the mound. Drop and drive delivery mechanics, 3/4's to high 3/4's arm slot, quick arm and the ball comes out cleanly, short stride out front, creates some downhill plane despite his size, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, good arm side running action, will bust hitters inside with his fastball and work to spots with intent, gets good sink at lower velocities. Slider is his best pitch, gets hard biting action, sharp and short with good 2-plane shape, has feel for the pitch and throws it for strikes. Aggressive pitcher who fills up the zone. Right handed hitter, quiet balanced stance from a wide base, uphill swing plane from an upper half rotational swing, looks to pull and lift the ball and flashes some bat speed. 7.01 runner. Good student.
