Keury Abreu is a 2018 SS/RHP, 3B, 2B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends St. Raymond HS For Boys. Medium, athletic frame with slender present build. Ran 40 yard dash in 5.16 seconds. Sets up to hit from high hands/back elbow set, swings with intent, incomplete shift off of backside but does manage to create some torque in hips, gets on positive launch angle and was able to barrel the ball up into the air consistently, Worked to the pull field gap almost exclusively, showed very good barrel skills overall and will drive the ball more with additional strength. Worked out in the infield, showed twitchy actions with quality footwork and soft hands to both sides, fielded cleanly and got off quick release, clocked up to 83 MPH across the diamond. Right-handed pitcher as well, turns on backside to load, gets uncoiled and gets online downhill. Quick arm stroke up to three quarters arm slot, creates moderate plane, fastball worked 79-84 MPH with very good arm side life. Showed curveball with good depth; also flashed changeup with some arm side fade. Did a good job throwing strikes with all three pitches and working quickly. Named to 2017 Northeast Indoor-NJ Showcase Top Prospect List, very good student.
