Sammy Nieves is a 2020 C/RHP, IF, OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from South Plainfield, NJ who attends South Plainfield HS. Recorded a 5.08 second 40-yard dash time. Physical frame with some present strength and room for more. Primary catcher who receives the ball well and has very good arm strength recorded up to 78 mph. Two pieced mechanics that were segmented and can improve with more fluidity to motion. Secondary righthanded pitcher with athleticism to delivery and will change timing to disrupt hitter. Will throw from a high three-quarters slot and drop down to sidearm as well. Slider had good shape with sweeping break to the pitch. Switch hitter who graded out best from the right side. Slightly open stance, high hand set, with a high back elbow. Downhill swing with better bat speed and extension from the right side. Inside hand path to contact with lots of strength off the barrel. Good student.
