Austin Silva is a 2017 LHP/OF, 1B with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Auburn, CA who attends Placer. Silva has a medium sized frame with a lean build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Silva has a Clayton Kershaw style delivery where he has a start/stop/start tempo. He has a slow paced delivery then lunges to home. Silva has a later hand separation with developing arm speed. He has a fairly straight fastball with occasional run on it. Silva throws a 1/7 curveball with big break to it. He's a crafty lefty with some deception. At the plate, Silva starts with an open stance and a slight crouch. He has quick hands and some bat speed. He put together good at bats in game and made hard contact on an opposite field single against upper 80's velocity. Defensively Silva charges the ball well in the outfield with developing arm strength up to 71 MPH. Silva projects best as a position player with his hitting tools and grade reflects that. Good student.
