Cody Willis is a 2018 1B/LHP with a 6-2 225 lb. frame from Powhatan, VA who attends Powhatan HS. Thick and strong build, linebacker look. Left handed hitter, spread stance with a limited shift into contact, rotational lower half swing with an uphill swing plane, has good present bat speed and ball jumps to the pull side, tends to stay on his back side, handles the barrel well, can improve with more lower/upper half coordination together. Has soft hands and smooth, slick actions at first base, makes very accurate throws from a balanced base, an asset at first base defensively. Also pitched, compact arm action with low 3/4's arm slot that creates angle to the plate, some effort at release. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, mixes in a sweeping curveball and a fading change up often, throws strikes and has some pitchability. Good student.
