2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Dalton Wason is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Frisco, TX who attends Prosper. Large frame with long limbs and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a high energy, side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate. Released from a three-quarters arm slot producing slight cutting action with a fastball that ranged in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Flashed good feel for an 11/5 curveball with late bite when located down in the zone. Slows arm speed slightly with a changeup offering that flashed fade to arm side. Filled the zone with a willingness to pitch backwards and double up with off speed when needed. Also worked out defensively from first base, centering baseball well while funneling from a deeper position. Clean footwork while throwing across and pivoting to second base. Generated good carry across the infield with accuracy topping at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance. Rotational lower half actions to contact with occasional shift when on time. Loose, extended path to contact with a leveraged plane through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field and flashed good jump off the barrel to pull side as well. Good student.
