Alex Rizzo is a 2017 C/3B with a 5-7 170 lb. frame from Lakewood Ranch, FL who attends Lakewood Ranch HS. Strong, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a compact, mature build with strength well proportioned throughout. Primary catcher, balanced, low set behind the plate with good flexibility, gains good ground and incorporates lower half, quick release out of glove with a clean arm action coming through, accurate throws down to second base with carry. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base in the box and a medium hand set. Swings hard and creates bat speed through the zone, comfort hitting to the middle of the field and shows a feel for the barrel head. Repeats mechanics well and gets extended out front, contact approach with line drives coming off the barrel. Excellent student.
