Julio Cortez is a 2018 C/IF with a 6-0 210 lb. frame from Weston, FL who attends American Heritage HS. Thick strong build. Right handed hitter, spread open stance, has a good shift into contact, under control swing he repeats and times well, has strength in his swing, line drive swing plane with a bit of lift out front, can hit to all fields and drive the ball and flashes more pop pull side, hits with confidence and maturity. Shows good arm strength behind the plate, quick release with limited gain and footwork but a clean exchange, can quicken up lower half throwing and blocking but is pretty sound defensively as well. Nice combination of strength and fundamentals. Excellent student.
