Moravia Johnson is a 2017 OF/1B with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from North Charleston, SC who attends Porter-Gaud. Medium frame with strong, solid present build and athleticism. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.46 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based stance with high hands and a high back elbow in set. Big leg lift timing mechanism, line drive swing plane with good strength and hand quickness in swing, shifts weight well to front side and gets good jump off the barrel when squared up. Worked out defensively both in the OF and at 1B. Short steps to the ball in the outfield with good balance throughout, full arm action through the back with clean arm stroke, gets on top of throws and throws accurately downhill to target up to 82 MPH. Clean hands at first base with good footwork around the bag, fields cleanly out front and gets off quick release across diamond with accuracy up to 79 MPH. Pitched as well, compact delivery with repeatable mechanics, short rocker step and high leg kick with good balance and drive to the plate with lower half. Throws from high three quarters arm slot with good downhill plane, fastball worked 72-77 MPH with life to the arm side. Showed curveball with 1/7 shape and good depth, pitched mostly with an off of the fastball with solid control of the pitch. Good student.
