2015 Sunshine South Showcase
Christian Avery Thomas is a 2015 C/RHP with a 5-11 161 lb. frame from League City, TX who attends Lutheran South Academy. Lively athletic build with some present strength. Very good athlete for a catcher, 6.90 in the sixty, 4.39 home to first. Has nice arm strength from behind the plate, can shorten up release and footwork for better throw times, 2.02 best pop, received the ball well in games and played with energy. Right handed hitter, lays barrel back, upper half rotational swing, long and loose swing and swings hard. Also pitched, sound delivery mechanics and direction, some energy on release, medium length arm action, gets some downhill plane and stays low in the zone. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 84 mph, gets good life down in the zone. Curveball lacked power but had good consistent spin and some depth, could have thrown it more often. Played with lots of energy and hustle. Very good student, signed with Austin College.
